How long you think this whole chaos will go on? June, July, August? A whole 10 or 12 months? 2 or 3 years? If we're still close to the beginning, that means this'll be a civil war between terrorists and the police, and not just a nationwide spate of rioting and looting. All the rioting and chaos in that list lasted anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks.

Excellent post. One small grammatical correction: "nothing close to peaceful." Where you from, if I may ask?

I saw a meme asking: "What if teargas is the cure for the coronavirus?" Meanwhile, the NY Daily News right now:

End it: NYC protests have exposed a truth Cuomo and de Blasio have missed; the lockdown is over

http://archive.is/5Db2f

I've been following the bar graphs here; HOPEFULLY the won't start going back up:

See the first few comments under this post from the Los Angeles subreddit - one of them says that Minnesota will definitely be voting red in this election, and that they won't even need any convincing from any campaign commercials, because the residents of their 2 biggest cities now live surrounded by rubble, like the aftermath of a 24-hour artillery attack, and are will spend the next 5 months driving past burnt-out and broken RUINS every day. Here', I'll just paste that exact comment:

Unfortunately I don’t think Minnesotans will need videos to scare them. The rubble of Minneapolis will probably do that all by itself, considering that the Twin Cities are the largest democratic bastion in the state. Good chance that MN will flip red now.

And that's why Trump needs to devise some set of plans to get people back to work even faster than the current 3-phase plan for each state and region within each state. There are now over 40 MILLION people who lost their job since February (CBS News: http://archive.is/jGPlM), and things gotta get back on track faster, because this is all so unnecessary. The swine flu TORE through country from April 2009 to April 2010 a CDC-estimated 60.8 million cases in the U.S.--and that was in the first year of Obama's presidency, when HE was supported by scumbag to do all sorts of shit to keep the economy, the job market, and the stock market back on track after the 2008 crisis. I see more looting in places were the shutdown continues--an empty shopping mall or shopping center or any store at night, with absolutely no one around? How many of those are there? This was inevitable to many, many people, and that's why there was a record-high number of gun and ammunition sale at the end of March.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates there were 60.8 million cases, 274,000 hospitalizations, and 12,469 deaths in the United States due to the virus.[117]

Feb 2016: Donald Trump responds to BLM protesters by saying "ALL LIVES MATTER!" (Link skips to4:35) - And the crowd was already chanting it TWICE before he says it! - This was before the Primary even started!

WaPo/AP:

“A lot of people feel that [the term BLM] is inherently racist,” the presumptive Republican nominee told the Associated Press on Monday. “It’s a very divisive term, because all lives matter. It’s a very, very divisive term.”

There was also a TV interview (I can't find it) where he said that some governor was "acting like a baby" because Trump said "Black Lives Matter, White Lives Matter, ALL Lives Matter." He repeats each statement in the interview, following each one by saying "which is true."

Although it's impossible to conduct this type of study, I would bet that not a single looter or rioter, of any race or in any state, will be at the polls on Election Day, voting for Joe Biden (or WHOEVER is the nominee). A few might go to write in "Bernie Sanders," but that's it.

Every day in their press conferences, Cuomo and De Blasio each give no hint of wanting to end this thing. Other governors and mayors have timelined plans for phased reopenings, but it's the opposite here, just lots of "We need to wait."

Hence: WaPo 5/26: "Frustrated and struggling, New Yorkers contemplate abandoning the city they love"

“The ’rona sat every New Yorker down and legit asked that question everyone knows from tired job interviews: Where do you see yourself in five years?” said Sandy José Nuñez, 31, a bartender hoping to pivot toward opening a jujitsu gym. “You have plenty of time now to step up to a solid answer.”

http://archive.is/Fz4Yh

And NYT 5/18: "Where New Yorkers Moved to Escape Coronavirus"

http://archive.is/j4KQf

See the first tweet here - as it says: In neighborhoods of the top 1% in income in NY, more than 1/3 of residents left town. In the neighborhoods of the bottom 80%, only 7 percent left. The city will become like Detroit or Baltimore if this shutdown really extends for ANOTHER 2, 3, or 4 months. If there's not a clear reopening of everything by mid-August, the city will plummet in so many ways, economically, socially, culturally. Tons of foreign people will be moving to other cities, for sure. I don't see stimulus payments and umployment benefits being extended to December, as some Democrat House members are proposing. August is the dividing line.
