I’d argue that America isn’t an empire in the traditional sense though. The USA has been keystone for stability in the world for the last 70 years. Unfortunately, the societies that that benefited the most are now using the wealth they acquired because of it against us.

I’m optimistic. We may be in for some more turmoil, in the near future, but we will come out stronger on the other side.

Sure it would affect our economy. China steals billions of dollars worth of intellectual property from the USA each year. Ending that, we would come out ahead.

At the same time, there are more than economic reasons to de-couple with China, mainly the survival of our republic.
