Agree and disagree with your various points, and they are all valid interpretations. And yeah, KMT has big issues.

I just wanted to say that I think DDP's "free Taiwan" is a CIA/globalist ruse to keep the region unstable. It seems like a good idea, but like Democrat policies, the actual result will be the opposite of the stated goal. My take on it, at least.

Yes, actually. I am using cigarettes -- more precisely tobacco smoking -- as an example of infringing personal freedom.

It's definitely debate worthy, but see how you quickly jumped to the absolute belief of how dangerous they are as justification for laws forbidding people from using them?

Now think about how "obviously dangerous" COVID is as justification for mandates preventing people from going outside.

And to set the record straight, cigarettes are awful because of the additives they put in them. There have been zero studies looking at the effects of pure tobacco use.

Good pipe tobacco is fairly pure though. And the one Surgeon General study that looked at pipe smokers only found that they lived slightly longer than non-smokers. Crazy huh?

I deep dove into smoking research years ago. Opposing evidence is now nearly impossible to find online. Let me just sum it up by saying that the scientific evidence for second smoke damage is not anywhere as clear cut as they make it up out to be.

And when people say "it's obvious" or "of course it does", that is neither an argument or evidence. It's a statement of assumption that proves itself.

For example, it's been proven that Marijuana smoke actually suppresses tumors. That runs contrary to the idea that exposure to any smoke just automatically causes damage.

Huh...and that makes 100% sense.

Love your enemies, I guess. I'm still struggling with that one.

Ha. That's always a struggle I guess. :)

Tangent, this was 100% politics interfering with our lives and anyone that says "I dont care about politics, it doesnt effect me." Needs to wake up.

This is exactly what has pissed me off and frightened me most about this insanity. Before this, you could mostly keep politics separated from your day to day life, but now they're fucking around with how each of us fundamentally lives.

I'm not well-versed in this topic but the problem hinged around Net Neutrality causing IPs to be classified as utilities. This creates a huge regulatory hurdle for new competition, effectively granting the IP giants a monopoly in the market. It also removes them from FTC oversight, so their business practices cannot be scrutinized.

Very good point. Messed up life leads to more messed up life unfortunately.

Yeah, I agree the biggest leftists policies are coming from Congress, but I was thinking of stuff like the recent elimination of "shark attacks" in Army PT and the change in the Navy Seal creed.

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably get into building once the kit shortages let up. I was just at a couple of retail gun stores today, and the whole buying process they've set up pissed me off. They're regulating the browsing process like TSA theater at the airport.

Omg. I missed that one!

Also omg. It's been 7 months of this insanity.

You, my friend, are a fountain of enlightenment for me today. I knew some California slumlords who were pissed when the new real estate tax laws rolled around. I think something about it was keeping them from flipping low quality properties which contributes to driving housing costs to insane levels. Insane housing costs kill the middle class in the affected area.

"Antisemitic" is a manufactured trigger word. It causes the conditioned subject to automatically believe that it is inherently wrong to ever say anything negative about the Jews as a group or Judaism as a religion.

But think of this. Is there a specific word for when someone harshly criticizes Christians? Or Chinese? Haven't these group also been persecuted and suffered horrific genocides themselves?

Why can Jews freely criticize Christians, but the moment anyone criticizes them we hear that magic word again. "Antisemitism, antisemitism, antisemitism".

But- but- Jesus was a pacifist communist!

No. No, He quite obviously was not.

Wow, that wiki page is bullshit lame.

Here's the deal. To "86" something is to cancel, belay, eliminate, delete, or kill it. It was a relatively common slang term, at least in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s when I would hear it in the media and real life.

It's got a blue collar, no-nonsense, even military color to it, and yes, some think that it may have originated in the restaurant industry.

Similar terms that you also don't hear much of anymore are "nix" and "put a kibosh on".
