I think that is typically the case, however a lot of the follow-ups are being buried under the demand of initial claims. In NC, they are asking employer's to certify whether the individual was laid-off or had hours reduced due to covid-19 and that's that. They are not asking for work search history or anything. Just file weekly saying if you made any money or not, and then cash your fat govco check.

Yeah, I would be informing all my previous employees that they no longer have jobs to look forward to if that is going to be their attitudes.

In NC, employer's unemployment accounts are not being charged for benefits paid to employees with reduced hours or layoff due to coronavirus. Also, businesses do not pay out unemployment claims. Businesses are charged a premium, because it's technically insurance. If you have claims charged against your account, there is a chance your premiums paid to the state will go up for future premiums. Here we seem to have an issue where the initial claim is verified with the employer, but due to overwhelming demand on the system, no follow-ups are being made at this time.

Spirit cookers cut into the middle finger of left hand. But I immediately thought the same thing. Could very well be proof of a blood oath on the hand they knew she would have to show to be sworn in.

The date on the first picture is April 8th, 2003. The majority of the other buildings were completed or started by November 20th, 2004. The exception being the massive white building on the left. That building was started and completed sometime between December 11th, 2006 and January 24th, 2010. Source: Google Earth Pro Historical Imagery.

Spez: The reports about buildings being upgraded and new construction are true, but that picture is incredibly misleading.

Y'all need to read The Virtue of Selfishness before you run around ignorantly conflating collectivism with knowledgeable people understanding that the world doesn't revolve around them. If you know what it takes to make your life happen then you are much more likely to act in a way that supports everyone's opportunity to grow.

Lack of consequences and a complete lack of any guiding principles is what is dangerous for society. You are saying a bunch of idiots banded together to shit on everything is individualism? One idiot can't do much on their own.

15
MYHM 15 points ago

These people do not understand that it is not individualism that causes our problems, but a complete lack of consequences for our actions. A collective agreement by idiots to band together in hopes of saving themselves from themselves. Instead we get a nanny state.

That's a rich thing to say for someone who's been spamming the thread about magical sky creatures.

Right, but how many products show their packaging in amazon product pages. There are country of origin laws requiring that labeling on the physical products. What OP is asking for, and what I asked my Senator for, is for similar laws or voluntary cooperation by amazon to list country of origin on all product pages so we can quickly search, sort, and make informed buying decisions without having to look elsewhere.

Don't forget to report for child abuse.

And told us there was no human-to-human transmission and no need to close borders cause it wouldn't help.

This is critically important to be aware of. Modly has acted like a tool for sure, but even one carrier is too important of an asset for anyone to just broadcast it's readiness level to anyone, friend or foe. Operational security must be maintained.

I already emailed my Senator asking for just that. If it has to be labeled coming in, it should be labeled on the web where we cant physically inspect the product.

https://www.cebm.net/covid-19/global-covid-19-case-fatality-rates/

This is from Oxford, they reference this article here:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/120443722/coronavirus-is-covid19-really-the-cause-of-all-the-fatalities-in-italy

and this bulletin from an Italian epidemiology center (source in Italian):

https://www.epicentro.iss.it/coronavirus/bollettino/Report-COVID-2019_17_marzo-v2.pdf

full section on Italy for the lazy:

"Italy: In Italy, there are several reasons why the CFR is higher. The age structure of the Italian population (2nd oldest in the world); highest rates of antibiotic resistance deaths in Europe (Italy tops the EU for antibiotic-resistance deaths, with nearly 1/3rd of the deaths in the EU). Smoking also seems to be a factor associated with poor survival – in Italy, 24% smoke, 28% men. In the UK, for instance, 15% are current smokers.

Coronavirus: Is Covid-19 the cause of all the fatalities in Italy? Sarah Newy reports Italy’s death rate might also be higher because of how fatalities are recorded. In Italy, all those who die in hospitals with Coronavirus are included in the death counts.

In this article, Professor Walter Ricciardi, Scientific Adviser to, Italy’s Minister of Health, reports, “On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88% patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity – many had two or three.”

Recording the numbers of those who die with Coronavirus will inflate the CFR as opposed to those that died from Coronavirus, which will deflate the CFR.

Report from the Italian National Institute of Health: analysed 355 fatalities and found only three patients (0.8%) had no prior medical conditions. See Table 1 in the paper; (99% who died had one pre-existing health condition): 49% had three or more health conditions; 26% had two other ‘pathologies’, and 25% had one.

The most common problems in the 355 who died were: 76% high blood pressure; 36% diabetes, and 33% ischemic heart disease.

The average age of deceased and COVID-19 positive patients was 79.5 years (median 80.5, range 31-103). The median age of those that died was >15 years higher than patients who contracted the infection (median age: died 81 years – infected 63 years).

Case-fatality rate estimates by age and sex. Data comes from cases diagnosed by regional reference laboratories (N = 73,780). Source

Produced by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) the data is collected through a dedicated web platform and includes all the cases of COVID-19 diagnosed by the regional reference laboratories. The data are updated daily by Region although some information may take a few days to come through."

I definitely think China has been lying about everything since this started but if Verizon and other carriers here did not promise to not cut off service for non-payment we would probably be losing a large number of subscribers too with all the unemployment. Lots of people in China have been out of a Job for months at this point due to the Chinese response. It will be interesting to see how many of those subscribers stay lost over the next few months.
