The holiday is very real, and has existed forever. It’s not an American Jew invention.

Traditionally Hanukkah was a minor Jewish holiday (unlike Christmas which is major for Christians). Jewish parents and groups trying to assimilate artificially elevated the holiday and added gifts, making it seem more important than it really is, so their kids wouldn’t feel so left out.

I always figured the Lefts hatred of Christianity was due to the Left’s strong support of abortion and LGB marriage, with Christianity being logical opposition.

Also, there are Leftists who hate Christianity irrationally for other reasons, too, like holding an irrational, historical grudge against the Church for an action it did hundreds of years ago. That’s Retarded
