Everything they are doing is so that they have a media defense against Barr. They KNOW what he's going to find, they KNOW how serious it is. They need a line they can give to CNN which will be: "Trump is retaliating for impeachment, Trump is abusing his power, Trump is a dictator, Trump is a fascist."
The rule of law means nothing to them, and I fear what they will try to incite once they start going to jail for real crimes they have committed.
