The breaton-woods agreement was for the United States to be the guarantor of the worlds trade routes utilizing the US Navy following WW2, as well as the market of last resort. This allowed the rest of the developed world to trade thier broken and ruined countries back into affluence... in exchange for thier support in the cold war against the Soviet Union. This quid pro quo was the natural order of all foreign policy until the Berlin wall fell.
For some reason we kept that order in place for the next 30 years with no benefit to our country whatsoever. Now instead of asking about quid quo pro we should be asking que bono? Because if it isn't us then they should no longer have a spot at the table.

The only witness who actually spoke with the president said that President Trump said he wanted nothing but the new president to do what he said he would do in Ukraine. Which was to drain their swamp. The media does not care what international relations are really like between governments because that would ruin their chances to get orange man. The whole thing is a sham, a fake or a witch hunt like GEOTUS likes to say.
I agree with you that every diplomatic effort is a this for that. Life in general is too if two or more people are involved. Hell, my marriage is a quid pro quo. The media is just genuinely dishonest.
I understand your point completely, our President went out of his way to avoid any sort of situation which would be cast in a bad light.
It just really frustrates me that quid pro quo is even an issue to begin with. Didn't the last man to hold the office ship pallets of cash in the dead of night to a terrorist regime? What was that if not quid pro quo... disgusting...
