I just want to say that I worked as a regional director for one of the most prestigious polling companies in the country back in 2013, and we absolutely fake our data.

We have a database of people who have responded to our calls in the past, and their previous answers. If someone with a high answer rate doesn't respond to our current poll, we will fill them in as if they did answer based on their previous answers. But here's where it gets juicy. You'll notice in most polls, the democrats tend to be polled the most. Why is this? Because we take people with hispanic last names, and claim they answered our poll and mark them as democrats because typically hispanic people tend to vote for the left.

Basically, the system is flawed, very flawed. Most our polling contracts pay you based upon how many people you polled, and many come with quotas. Now that people are ditching landlines for cell phones, it has become harder and harder to meet those quotas. So we just fake them.

Also, depending on who our client was decided how we would skew our results. If our client wants to show leftist ideas are popular, we give them what they want to see - because they'll keep coming back to us.

sportsbettingtruth 40 points ago +40 / -0

I too have done polling as part of what I do for a living and you are 100% correct

This needs to be its own post. Don't doxx yourself, but get this info out.

Trumpman1 12 points ago +12 / -0

And just like that ^ the last few questions I had about fake polls were answered.

BathouseBarry 11 points ago +12 / -1

Yeah, and phone laws make the auto dialing even less effective than before as you can only dial landlines... and the only people answering landlines anymore are 55+ (65+ really), so they miss out on so much data.

Gotta call cellphones if you want real results, and that requires a live survey read on the phone, which means someone getting paid in a call center. Cost is like 15-20x more, and most people don't want to or have the budget to pay it.. Plus, everyone is so defensive of their cellphones. An unwanted call is an offense to most. Makes the call center's job even harder on their group's morale. Good luck, pollsters. It only gets harder.

visorak 4 points ago +4 / -0

On one hand this is encouraging because it seems like people are getting more defensive of their personal information and want more privacy...

BUT THEN they go and blow all that on social media. One would think that those online polls have better data than any phone-based one.

AgamemnonContingency 2 points ago +2 / -0

I would guess worse. Based on rough numbers, it's a 1-10-90 rule on the internet. 1% will actively participate, everyday comments, upvote, etc. 10% will participate at all, occcasional comments, upvotes, sign up. 90% will never participate, most of those without ever even signing up. Usually that 1% tends to make up something like 80% of content. The only people that will answer online are likely to be the hyper involved, so every poll would be massively skewed from poll to poll to the point of uselessness.

Side note for if you ever took an online poll, the first thing they tend to do is give you a smaller survey. Just like above where they mention they want to sort to give the answers the company that purchased the survey wants, that's what those do. Answer those "wrong" and you'll never even see the survey let alone answer it.

Quietam_Unum 1 point ago +1 / -0

An unwanted call is an offense to most.

It is recipient pays call - lots of us don't like to have to pay to be spammed.

Gmama2 9 points ago +9 / -0

You need to get with Veritas and get another polling job.

Pede 18 points ago +18 / -0

We have your name and phone number. Shall we put you down for Biden or to get doxed?

Nellie_the_Beaut 2 points ago +2 / -0

Says here you have two kids at Roscoe P. Coaltrain Elementary School. Shall we send a van to pick them up from school today or will you be voting for Biden/Harris? Put you down for Biden? Excellent.

July_1776 21 points ago +22 / -1

i'd just very, very veryyy sarcastically say "Absolutely, I'm definitively voting for Biden 100% won't miss it, promise"

They probably would never catch on.

JohnnyRico69 17 points ago +17 / -0

Honestly, even if the pollster said, "We're calling to take a completely anonymous poll of who you'll be voting for in the upcoming presidential election." I still think most people would either hang up or just do what the guy in the picture did, "Biden, definitely Biden."

randomopinion 16 points ago +16 / -0

they called me and i said 100 % biden ,orange man bad

Husky 9 points ago +9 / -0

Husky 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, I did that as soon as the primaries were held. Still concerning

chartmerchant 8 points ago +8 / -0

I can't decide if the play is "Biden definitely." or "I'd like to vote for Biden, but I think he's too problematic, so I think I'm voting for Kanye."

brassmule 75 points ago +76 / -1

Not gonna lie: I was super excited when I got a random call on my phone - literally no one ever calls me, blessedly - and it was a pollster.

I promise I 100% told them the truth - Trump is terrible, Biden will save us, I love Kamala the strong Indianblack woman, etc.

It was great.

Fuck your polls, Trump 2020 baby!

yang_wenli_89 12 points ago +12 / -0

They also ask a bunch of leading questions before asking the person who they will vote for, and oversample democrats, when they really want to use polls as this push-effect bandwagon-appeal psyop.

But just look at the left's behavior lately and ask yourself "does this look like how they would act if Trump were really way down in the polls", such as The New York Slimes calling for international intervention to stop Trump.

obviousalt 28 points ago +28 / -0

They're still missing a huge part of the polling error - spiteful responses.

notcalledbilloflefts 5 points ago +5 / -0

Tim Pool did an excellent segment today on Timcast about a new study by Cloud Research. They reframed their polling questions and specifically geared them to ask if they were comfortable telling the truth to pollsters. For the people who answered no, they asked why, and came up with six general reasons. One of the six reasons was pure spite. Also, all six general reasons were answers only a Trump supporter would give.

And for what it’s worth, approximately 5% of democrats do not tell the truth, compared to 11% of republicans and 10% of moderates.

That’s a WHOLE lot of lying to pollsters, which would explain why poll averages have Biden up approximately 9 points nationally, yet it’s looking more and more likely that we’ll see a Trump landslide.

CannonballJunior 1 point ago +1 / -0 (edited)

yet it’s looking more and more likely that we’ll see a Trump landslide.

A landslide? I'd love to believe this! Why do you think there will be a Trump landslide?

uvontheterrible 3 points ago +3 / -0

And the fact that only about 1% of people contacted actually respond.

patslimmy1 24 points ago +24 / -0

"I'll be voting for Trump."

"Ok sir I'll mark that down as Biden. Thank you for participating."

Keln 20 points ago +20 / -0

The vast majority of pollsters are young, college aged kids or people "between jobs" who need money. Most of them could care less what you say, they are just there to collect a paycheck.

There are two problems though. The first is that there has been a 4 year public-shaming of anyone who admits to supporting Trump. So a lot of people like to say "undecided" when they actually are pro-Trump all the way. The other is that pollsters generally get through far more on landline phones than cell phones, and that skews polls towards much older people who tend to vote however they always have, regardless of current events.

On top of this, most polls are anywhere from D+5 to D+12, so respondents are already going to pick the Democrat.

Basically, polling is garbage. It probably always was to a certain extent, but it is really meaningless now. 2016 absolutely highlighted this fact. Even Rasmussen, who tries to be as fair as possible, got it wrong with +2 for Hillary on its final poll.

The only poll I remember getting it right was the LA Times/USC poll. They have since "corrected" their methods to show Biden ahead. Not a single poll this year will be correct. Which is unfortunate. The LA Times poll was doing something right in 2016.

Cledus 9 points ago +9 / -0

It’s my understanding the USC guy asked people who they were going to vote for, which was a distraction. After the respondents gave their answer (which he believed wouldn’t be reliable) he would ask a follow up question. “Who do you think your friends and family are voting for?” And the response was overwhelmingly Trump.

SanFranShitty 3 points ago +3 / -0

Pollsters and surveyors are also idiots. I got a call 6 months ago asking for opinions about the Covid lockdown. The caller said it would take 5 minutes. It took 40 minutes.

The person asking me questions seemed mentally slow. They seemed timid and confused about what they were asking me. By the end of the poll I wanted to hit someone from the sheer frustration of it. Never again will I participate in a poll or survey. Major time suck!

lefty295 4 points ago +4 / -0

Hey, I'm still alive though! I thought the dems had to at least wait until you died.

Excelsior 24 points ago +24 / -0 (edited)

Polls are the Left’s last desperate measure to inflict as much damage as possible before the election. The American people are beyond exhausted from this bullshit, and I hope every pollster who has Biden up by 16 points nationally or whatever is eating out of trash cans a month from now

Shitposter69 22 points ago +23 / -1

I don't get how they have a number for amount of people telling the truth. "yes I'm telling the truth"

notcalledbilloflefts 4 points ago +4 / -0

Check out my comment above or watch Timcast’s segment today on lying to pollsters it was really interesting and informative

Shitposter69 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah I did. I feel like he didn't take into account that people would lie about lying. I hope he's right about the disparity though.

notcalledbilloflefts 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah that’s a good point I thought of as well.

Shitposter69 1 point ago +2 / -1

"Of course I told the truth about voting for Biden!"

If they asked me, 100% would say Biden and that I didn't lie. Fuck them.

YourBasedRBelongToUs 20 points ago +20 / -0

If you want to have the maximum effect, tell pollsters that you are a republican who voting for Biden. Pollsters use weighing techniques based on previous party turnout, so telling them you are a democrat who is voting for Biden will have practically no effect on the poll.

deleted 6 points ago +6 / -0
Donarudo_Taranpu 2 points ago +2 / -0

I been doing the opposite, what does that do? (I'm a hardcore progressive liberal Democrat voting for Trump)

Ham_Sandwich77 18 points ago +19 / -1

That's no joke. While democrats are burning cities down and literally executing Trump supporters the streets, some stranger who knows where you live cold-calls you on your home phone and asks who you'll be voting for?

That's obviously not going to produce accurate results for the pollster. Not when people have to fear real-world repercussions if they answer honestly.

GeoG85 9 points ago +9 / -0

Yea, the Silent Majority won Trump in 2016.

And all the DemonRats did for 3 years+ was fertilize the ever living shit out of the Silent Majority. "The people that didn't speak up won Trump? That's not good! Better make sure MORE people DON'T speak up!"

Cue the Despicable Me Meme.

Gmama2 6 points ago +6 / -0

100% this. We say we don't answer polls.

Then again, think about how it is when you are in a social situation, lefties ALWAYS have to make some anti-Trump, anti-Christian or anti-democrat comment. They always want to flap their gums about how stunning and brave they are for going along with the media and Hollywood.

Washcloth 14 points ago +14 / -0

I’ve never even been contacted by a pollster

AbrahamLincoln 11 points ago +11 / -0

This is because the pollsters aren't contacting anyone.

BadManOrange 4 points ago +4 / -0

Same, but then again I get so many calls that are blocked by spam filters and pollsters may be part of that.

I've had my ass kicked and heart broken by these Liberals before. 2008 and 2012. Obama/Biden stickers, flags, yard signs everywhere.

I watched as Obama smoked Mitt in two-out-of-three debates. I watched as Biden (literally) laughed and scoffed Paul Ryan off the debate floor.

I know what an ass kicking looks like. More so, I know what an ass kicking FEELS like.

I never felt it once in 2016 and I have yet to feel it once in 2020.

Listen, I don't know what's up with these polls. All I can say is that I think they are wrong.

Polls don't mean a thing. Voter enthusiasm means a lot. Ask Hillary how the polls worked out for her. The level of enthusiasm and support for President Trump is unprecedented in the modern time. Nothing is like this probably since JFK. From coast to coast, there were people turning out to see Trump and hold rallies.

The only thing that the media and the left are counting on is cheating. This is why they want mail-in ballots and have all the time to harvest ballots after November 3. They know there is no way in hell Biden could beat Trump in a fair election. This election is anything but fair. Trump has only the people and he fights against China, MSM, globalists, Big Tech, Big Pharma, MIC, ..., and the lowly dems.

FrankWisner 6 points ago +6 / -0

The political/propaganda operatives lending credence to fraud polls are the same operatives who worked overtime to encourage violence against their opposition.

Polling is a great psych weapon when people are afraid to publicly announce non-conformist political persuasions to a complete stranger over the phone.

Grats for destroying yet another entire industry, Commies.

PGM92 6 points ago +6 / -0

The most common argument I get is that the polls were not necessarily wrong last time, but the on-air personalities misinterpreted the data and made bold claims about the outcome of the election. I don't know if the same thing is happening now, or they have just gave up on legitimate polling and are trying to demoralize us. Don't really understand the strategy . All this does is make me anxious , but it does not change whether or not I will vote.

DonttrustChina 5 points ago +5 / -0

Trumpman1 5 points ago +5 / -0

Me; Biden, definitely Biden.

There are SO many more people responding this way today. In 2016, I think they just hung up on the pollsters and went uncounted. This time around, they're answering the calls like this just to make the polls even more wrong that they were in 2016. The polls look a lot like they did in 2016, but I believe so many more of the "Biden votes" are actually T votes. Someone on here predicted 340 Electoral Votes this time. I think they're pretty damn close.

Megalodon 5 points ago +6 / -1

Tfw you are helping the DNC justify their electoral rigging in the name of owning the Libs.

deleted 5 points ago +5 / -0
LurkNoMore 2 points ago +2 / -0

I do. I doubt it would be very hard to find 1,000-2,000 people who are lonely folks with land lines who give you the same answers every time. All you need to do to have a poll say what you want is call those same people. It's why most people on here have either never been polled or only polled once. If you answer pro-trump, they'll put your number on a do not call list.

America1776 5 points ago +5 / -0

How is it if the undecideds are 11-14% of voters, which means both sides bases (86-89%) are locked in and not in play, yet there are wild swings in Biden vs Trump, both in polling organization to polling organization and from week to week.

It can't be ALL the undecideds suddenly rushing to one side or the other.
