Makes me glad I got my hands on a 9mm. Just in case they get the idea of coming into my neighborhood.

Hold on to all the 9mm you have, I can't seem to find it anywhere these days. Hopefully, you'll never have to use it, but it's good you got one.

Was afraid people here would make fun of the 9 mm for being too small or lightweight or no stopping power or something.

The best gun for self defense is THE ONE YOU HAVE.

I don't know anyone that would be willing to go downrange and catch one to test the theory first hand... 9mm does the job. Hell, even .22 is a serious fucking attitude adjustment.

People like to mock the .22, but ask them if they'd be okay with being shot by one and see how quickly they change their tune.

As my old man would say: "It's better than no gun."

It's nothing that someone should be making fun of you for. Every weapons system has it's pros, and cons. With 9mm, there's quite a lot of pros, hence why the cartridge has been around since the German Empire.

What kind of 9mm firearm did you buy if you don't mind me asking? Is it also your first?

Shalomtoyou 7 points ago +7 / -0

It's our first. I'm uh.... not comfortable talking about the brand and all.

(Funny. I've been pretty open about other stuff on this board, but it's the gun I get embarrassed to talk about.).

Every weapons system has it's pros, and cons.

Much truth in that.

I love my 1911 and it's one of my favorites to shoot, but I carry a Glock 19.

Why?

More chances to miss under duress.

Any idiot who argues "lol gitgud nub" (it'll happen) ignores the fact that every situation in which you could possibly need your sidearm is going to be different. Sleep enough that night? Too much caffeine? Injured while seeking cover?

Besides. It usually comes down to mud-slinging over stopping power when the entire debate could be ended with a rifle. Pistols don't come close. Kyle's situation proves that, especially with the skater. Near-instant incapacitation. But you can't stick it in your pants unless you want to raise some eyebrows walking stiff-legged.

People can say whatever they want, but 6 rounds of 9mm certainly has plenty of stopping power either way!

7
FireannDireach 7 points ago +7 / -0

Eh, that's just gunhead meming, because of gang bangers favoring glocks. 9mm is a lethal round, regardless.

And, if the shit is going down, a .22 is better than nothing. As long as you bought a good brand, and train on using it, don't sweat it.

Ask Trayvon

ENVYNITAZ 7 points ago +7 / -0

pretty funny pede . . . 9 ammo is like gold now

Strike_Eagle784 6 points ago +6 / -0

Lol that, and 5.56. Other cartridges I haven't had issues finding, though I think .22 LR might be starting the process of thinning out.

I bought an sks back in February. Have had no issues with 7.62 ammo. 9mm is almost triple what it was where I'm at

Try ammoseek.com Somebody from here turned me onto it, so I figured I'd pass it on. Shipping seems to be where most of them get you, though. Seems to be standard with UPS.

Ammoseek is wonderful, I got like 200 rounds of Hornady Black 5.56 recently for a good price. Thank you for the recommendation, though!

Try ammoserk dot com, they had a bunch earlier.

Strike_Eagle784 3 points ago +3 / -0

Second this, ammoseek.com is a great website. Thank you for the pointer!

Believe you me, I am.

(Only had luck with steel case so far, but it's better than nothing.)

1
Strike_Eagle784 1 point ago +1 / -0

Try not to use it too often, as not all guns take steel case well. I've found that steel case works well as stockpile ammo, but at least for me (beyond my SKS of course), I don't rely on it for range day activities.

That's what I've been told too, so it'll stay at the ready for in-the-moment stuff.

TD_Covfefe_Crusader 9 points ago +9 / -0

Get yourself a rifle too if you can.

7
booblitchutz 7 points ago +7 / -0

Between now and 11/3 that's gonna be hard to do, unless you have a lot of money.

3
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yep, I have friends that have money and even they are having a tough time. I told them to get one long before this kicked off and they didn't listen.

https://www.gunbroker.com/Rifles/search?Sort=13&PageSize=96

If they got the cash, there's plenty of rifles to be had.

I still have my Trump Bux in savings, so I'm in no danger of not being able to afford something.

2
AgentBJ09 2 points ago +2 / -0

Already considering one. Just need to narrow down my caliber options.

pmurTJdlanoD 7 points ago +7 / -0

Without ammo it’s just a fancy paperweight!

7
0io- 7 points ago +7 / -0

I have a fancy paperweight, if I buy some ammo will it become a 9mm though? I think it's made of glass or something. :P

4
pmurTJdlanoD 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yes! It goes both ways

1
AgentBJ09 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've got some. Mostly steel case with FMJ, though.

4
Block_Helen 4 points ago +4 / -0

Good luck with the ammo!

3
Lunarman55 3 points ago +3 / -0

Good job!!
