Be Me, 20 years old. Psych Major. Rocking the blue hair (and would totally do it again, fyi....)

Get red pilled after the election in 2016 (I didn’t vote.) Lurk on the Donald, start seeing the bullshit the mainstream media censors Get somewhat alienated by very well meaning but brainwashed loved ones. You know, the ones who honestly want the best for humanity and have been brainwashed by the commies. Obtain Trauma. Go to counseling, etc to try to process/bury feelings about this. Stuff them deep down and try to move on.

Be Me in 2020. 24. The world is on fire. Person in my life gets red pilled. Person starts sending me red-pilly stuff. Feelings re-surface. See how badly America looks like it’s falling to globalism and communism

Fuck it. See you fuckers in November.

We don't classify by hair color. You only have to bleed red!

On the Trump Train you can be yourself.

120
GingerFox [S] 120 points ago +124 / -4

I actually consider myself fairly liberal.

I don’t consider myself stupid.

98
thesummerwind 98 points ago +99 / -1

I consider myself moderately conservative.

After the left ejects the commies, we can go back to constructive disagreements resulting in good compromises for the country (ying and yang).

Trump breaks the conservative mold. He deviates from typical conservatism in ways that are reminiscent of Bernie such as in the area of trade. He's also much less of a hawk.

30
Anaconda 30 points ago +34 / -4

He also picks diverse as fuck SCOTUS justices. Gorsuch rewards his libertarian supporters. Kavanaugh rewards his mainstream supporters. Likely ACB pick rewards his religious conservative supporters.

22
GoldenPotatoRequiem 22 points ago +24 / -2

NO NOT ACB THO

10
Anaconda 10 points ago +13 / -3

i agree. i don't like ACB out of the final shortlist but she would still be pretty good.

ACB has a fuckload of a paper trail on abortion and the 2A. lagoa OTOH does not at all even though lagoa is my favorite pick. i like rushing but she has no chance in hell to be picked because she is so young. and ACB is like 4 years younger than lagoa.

you would be foolish to think that ACB would not be red meat to the POTUS' evangelical supporters and social conservatives though. the turnout by them in november would be astronomical. it would add 5-6 million more evangelical voters to the national popular vote easily. they usually sit home unless something crazy happens like RBG being replaced by ACB.

This is how I feel. As a conservative / small-L libertarian, we HAVE to defeat this communist insurgency FIRST. We can debate our differences, liberal, conservative, etc. after we clean up this freaking Marxist mess. The tools to clean it up have been handed to us (I personally believe by God) on a silver platter: Trump.

78
Kaarous 78 points ago +78 / -0

Here's a secret about the modern right wing. Our ultimate desire is to be left alone as much as possible, and we extend that courtesy to people willing to grant it.

Most of us have been pushed into politics in one form or another because of an intrusion from the left into our lives. For me it was having eggs and rocks thrown at me for refusing to participate in some made up college feminist holiday. Most of the people on this forum have a similar story of being bitten by the constantly shifting hydra of political correctness.

tdwinner2020 30 points ago +30 / -0

I'm guessing by "liberal" you mean pro-gay rights, or somewhat pro-choice or something. That's fine, but it's not what "liberal" means today.

I'm also guessing you think conservative means "against gay rights"? But that's not right either.

The real questions are: how big should government be, how high should taxes be, should we continue importing much more than we export, and so on. And, of course, should we adhere to the Constitution (yes, damn it!).

4
CuomoisaMassMurderer 4 points ago +4 / -0

Classical liberalism isn't at all tied to those issues. Those would be much better issues to be dealing with than should we burn everything down though.

-10
BigMikesBlackCock -10 points ago +3 / -13

You can't be conservative and for gay rights ... that's not how it works , go read a bible .Gays shouldn't be allowed around children , shouldn't be allowed to work with children in any matter, shouldn't be allowed to adopt children

3
Muffinman 3 points ago +3 / -0

Conservatives aren't neccesarily Christians anymore.

There is not a secular argument for the government not to recognize gay marriage.

I'd argue that the government should get out of the marriage game all together, but that is a different discussion.

I am sorry for what must have happened to you when you were a child. I'm sure it was horrible, because the emotional scars are so visible in your words and even in your screen name. Instead of painting others with such large paint strokes of what a conservative can and cannot be, maybe that time would be better spent in therapy dealing with your childhood trauma. I hope you find someone you can trust, and relieve yourself of those horrible memories. Peace.

20 years ago, Trumps platform would have been almost identical to the espoused liberal platform. The democrats and republicans used to run on who could do a better job securing the border and keeping us out of war.

I was a Democrat for 6 years once I realized that Bush jr want going to end the wars. I think most of us here are basically liberal when it comes to “live and let live.”

I have two daughters aged 21 and 22, one of whom is caught up in the liberal ideology. I hope by the time she’s your age she’s sussed out exactly what’s what the way you have.

17
Msmcontrolsnarrative 17 points ago +18 / -1

I am also liberal about somethings.

But I realized those things will disappear with the “changes” they are planning.

One thing about communist countries....they have few artists or the culture which goes with it.

Can’t name a famous Russian artist from the era when the USSR was in their prime.

0
BigMikesBlackCock 0 points ago +2 / -2

I can name several . Maybe it's because you lack in knowledge

1
Msmcontrolsnarrative 1 point ago +1 / -0

Then why didn’t you name one?

Perhaps, it’s because you need to Google it first, since you lack in knowledge. But then again, if you Google it that person wasn’t really that famous were they?

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

Rachmaninoff.

The fact is, the USSR prided itself in their achievements. Olympic gymnasts, world class musicians, composers. Not that any of this was done out of freedom, but for the glory of the party. Very strict training regimen, harshly kicked out for the slightest variation from the routine. Not many flourished like this, but a few came up through the ranks and were WOW.

Hard to find a trumpet player better than Timofei Dokshitzer, for example. Funny name, great player. Amazing at what he specialized in; unparalleled, really.

Olga Korbut. For all the pedo abuse that coach was later besmirched by, the truth of it unknown to me, her perfect 10s were a first afaik.

There are more. Not many.

Liberalism is getting the government out of people’s lives; protecting and nurturing our constitutionally protected inalienable rights; and assuring the people have the opportunity to pursue life, liberty, and happiness (which is where control of unfettered immigration, law and order, and a strong national defense come into play). It is all the things that Trump and conservatives stand for and the communist left (the Democrat Party and their media psyops wing) do not. Conservatives = Liberals. Left = Illiberal Totalitarian Conformists.

Like a US Marshall being kicked off a plane for wearing a mask that has a US flag on it?

How can the US flag possibly be a political statement? Make America Great Again should NOT even be eligible to be a campaign slogan, everybody should want to do that. Yet the other side chants "death to America," probably just to resist DJT on this too.

But I’d rather be on the side with some douchebags who can’t get out of 1950 than the side advocating for violence and threatening liberty.

24
blurryface 24 points ago +24 / -0

What opinions do you feel are backwards?

Just curious (as a formerly "childfree" 10+ years of colored hair female)

39
GingerFox [S] 39 points ago +54 / -15

I see a lot of people have toxic ideas about women (such as women belong as wives and mothers, single and childless women are always miserable, women can’t be trusted with positions of power, women lose their worth as they age, etc. and I simply can’t agree.)

Also, and this is not going to be popular, but:

I’ve had an abortion.

I was 21. My boyfriend and I were dumb college kids who didn’t use protection. I had told him that If I got pregnant, I’d get an abortion. We did. I did (he was, for the record, 100% supportive and grateful.)

I’m on birth control now. I get the arguments for wanting a cutoff date, but I don’t support outlawing abortions entirely. Countries which outlaw abortions don’t see fewer abortions: they see more dead or injured women from unsafe back alley abortions.

Furthermore, let’s look at some examples of how the pro-life argument parallels some things. You cannot be a donor (OG an organ, blood, etc) to somebody if you do not consent. It doesn’t matter if they’re going to die without your surgery: if you don’t consent, nobody can make you donate. We also cannot harvest organs from the dead if they didn’t previously give their consent. I see pro-life arguments as arguing women should have less consent than dead people.

So yeah. I’m pro choice. That’s a biggie.

35
dontUseVinegerAsLube 35 points ago +38 / -3

For me, the biggest problem is that leftists are no longer about "safe and rare" abortions. The "rare" part has been forgotten and is now essentially being used as birth control. A lot of leftists have legit started to fantasize abortions. Things like abortions unto 9 months (NY and Virginia) and the Virginia governor talking about abortion even after birth (infanticide).

Imo, if abortion really needs to stay, it should have a cut off date and that should be when a heart beat can be detected (I think it's 6 weeks). I understand that some would say "life starts at conception" and I get it - that's why even if abortion is to be allowed up to 6 weeks, people need to be taught that "we shall allow abortion but remember that it IS taking a life". I think people have forgotten that.

22
GingerFox [S] 22 points ago +26 / -4

I just had this conversation. I think it should be 12 weeks.

Enough time for the woman to realize she’s pregnant, decide she doesn’t want it, make arrangements, and get the procedure.

After 12 weeks, whatever.

19

Do you think over the counter birth control would have helped you?

Republicans have repeatedly pushed for OTC birth control, but every politician taking money from Planned Parenthood votes against it. This no compromise attitude and their mishandling of patients is why I'm mostly against abortions.

A reasonable debate about abortion? What is this, bizzaro world?

I had Plan B a different time when I was in high school. That did help me. I’m grateful I had access to it.

For the record, my abortion wasn’t done with Planned Parenthood.

For the record, this post isn't directed at you so much as everyone else who may be reading this thread. I went through a change of mind on this subject over the years and wanted to add my own thoughts.

This is a 12 week old. I don't think it's unreasonable that some people consider that to be a person, with the legal protections of one. A common retort to this I see is, "it's not a person because it isn't done developing, and if it were prematurely born outside the womb it wouldn't be viable."

To the first argument, what determines if something has developed fully? Is a dwarf ever fully developed? Is a person under 25 fully developed if their brain is still undergoing changes? What about someone with autism or mental retardation? Are people missing limbs, hearing, sight, or suffering from dementia no longer developed and therefore worth less to society over time? If I kill a senior citizen rather than a healthy adult, should I be sentenced to less time in prison? Really, what I'm trying to say is why is someone's state of being or stage of development even a factor in this one particular case when it's (hopefully) not considered in others?

To the second argument, I've never seen a baby that was able to pop out of its mum's womb fully developed and start taking care of itself... Newborns are entirely dependent on their parents to feed, change, wash, and protect them so that they can continue developing. This is what I found so disturbing about the Ralph Northam audio referring to a non-viable fetus outside the mother's body. Literally all babies could be classified as non-viable if it just means that they need to develop further before they can reach "autopilot" mode outside of the uterus. And what if they get old and become non-viable again due to health issues that require intervention (say, by a machine)?

Finally, there's the consistency issue... if a pregnant woman is stabbed and her fetus dies, was that a murder? Was the mother-to-be not robbed of a son or daughter?

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +3 / -1

That's a very practical point. 6 weeks, many people simply wouldn't notice, or even think they might be pregnant. Double that and don't notice? Hmmm ...

12 weeks would be FAR more restrictive than usual practice. These are the conversations the Nation should have on the topic.

I'm personally against abortion, but realize I live in a country with 330M other people who don't see it the same way.

I'd agree to a 12 week compromise as well, on the condition that we fund research into more BC that is more effective and long-lasting.

Viability outside the womb is likely the only cutoff that leftists may agree to. The average is 26 weeks for viability outside of the womb. However, the earliest premature birth was actually 21 weeks.

As medicine improves, we are likely to see that number go down.

21 weeks is still pretty damn far along and 6 weeks would never get through congress because a not so small number of women are not even aware that they are pregnant until ~6 weeks.

6 week cutoff IMO (and I'm no fan of abortion at all), would never get passed. 12 weeks would likely be the earliest achievable cutoff allowed.

"Liberals" will never consider a reasoning which originates from religious values, or doctrine. Medically, they are still WAY THE FUCK over the line by even thinking 9 months is okay (E.g. the fucking psychotic governor of Virginia), but as of now, we may be able to get to 21 or 20 week cutoff.

Interestingly, there is a lot of research (which is coming along quickly) regarding artificial wombs. Before we know it, women will likely be to get have an "extraction" instead of an abortion. Where the fetus can be moved into an artificial womb.

As our medicine improves, so does the possible of making abortions a thing of the past. That technology becoming fully developed, and widely available, is the only real chance of effectively putting an end to abortion.

Is an astronaut not viable without a space suit?

1
Insanejub 1 point ago +1 / -0

Of course not.

Though a bit of a non sequitur, I do understand your point. This doesn’t need to devolve into a discussion of purity tests though.

My point is this; in terms of realistic expectations, this is what we can expect to get from legislation, per our current routes of affecting change.

Take roe v wade for instance. If we are able to overturn roe v wade, abortions won’t become illegal in the US. Decisions of legality just get going passed down to the state level.

Im talking about this in terms of practicality and what we can reliably expect. If we want to see change, we can’t be willfully ignorant of this fact.

Tbh I’ll say I don’t think Plan B should illegal. Also, though I’ve gone back and forth on this a lot, I don’t think 1st term abortions should be illegal either.

Currently, I loathe how abortions are seen as birth control now on the left. And it’s clearly being fetishized by the more extreme progressives too.

If we hope to change any of this shit though, the argument against abortions has to start from a stance that is articulated outside of religious context.

Liberals will never accept any argument or viewpoint we make if it based around Christianity or religious texts, in general. It means fuck all nothing to them.

Abortions past the age of viability IMO, and from a medical standpoint, is an ignorant and immoral thing to support. You are effectively killing a baby but calling it an abortion because the baby is inside, instead of outside the womb.

There are other arguments for earlier restrictions, but they are not nearly as strong.

Sorry for the long winded essay-length response but hopefully it clears up what I mean. My point obviously is not to change anyone’s mind that abortion is okay at any stage. It’s to show that there is a pretty damn good chance that we can prevent late-term and potentially mid-term abortions in the US. Idk, that’s just a way I think we could convince people to a more pro-life view.

Having sex means you consent to getting pregnant. We all know that's what happens...If not then we need to do a better job educating our youth on what sex is for.

I do understand how its a contested subject. I just think the idea that having sex has consequences should be taught. And that women shouldn't have to realize that AFTER they are pregnant. There's a reason they say no sex before marriage. And I've had an abortion. But if I could id change my decision. I dont know what lessons I would have learned as a single teen mother and I never will. But any path I would have taken would lead me to success. And the idea that a perfect innocent child would have ruined that is just nonsense.

Just curious. When does the child get consent? Because this whole debate really revolves around when life starts.

The "conservative" idea that women are naturally suited to childbearing and rearing is misconstrued. We are....not every single woman is the same but we are all much better wombs than any man and it is in our nature. I think the left is much more misogynistic saying that women who raise children and don't work out of the home have no value and no purpose. I would never say a woman who chooses to work and have children is less than.

Plus I've never understood why working for a male CEO is desirable but working for a husband who works equally as hard for you is shunned. Working outside the home isn't a reward. Its a trick.

I hope you stick around long enough to learn we don't hate or dislike you or your opinions just because we strongly disagree. We have real reasons for our opinions that are logical and compassionate.

And a lot of us used to think just like you...until we didn't.

My take is that abortion, early on, should be legal, but that we should do something very clever to make abortion much less common: match abortion and adoption demand. This is easy to do: setup a fixed pile of cash to be used to induce abortion clinics to match customers with an adoption agency. Because the pile of cash would be fixed and slightly less than what is needed to match all adoption demand every year, this would not cause women to get pregnant on purpose to earn money. Also, the clinics would be the ones who'd have to negotiate with the pregnant women and adoption agencies. The critical fact here is that abortion and adoption demand in the U.S. are very similar!

You sound like you want to push your moral beliefs on others. Why do you care what others do with their lives and that future child? If you want to remove the public option you create a reality which will have more health issues due to illegal abortions. This is fact. You know banning abortions creates a society in which illegal abortions are prevalent. You also force your moral belief system on another free human. What makes you the imperial enforcer of whatever moral belief system you adhere to? You should understand humans are sexual by nature and if you choose to suppress your impulses because of your moral belief system that is fine. If you want to oppress others lifestyles. I.e. sexually active, promiscuous, now you're a moral fanatic oppressing others in a free society, having a negative effect on people's freedoms and situations. Finally, raising a child is extremely difficult and if someone decides for whatever reason that they do not want to face the consequences of their promiscuity then so be it. Safe 3 to 4 month professionally assisted abortions should be available to people. It may be amoral in your view. But your feelings on abortion is not looked down upon as badly by enough people in enough places. If your beliefs had the support it needed it would have the ability to change the law.

Don't force your moral code and belief system on others.

Maybe but the point is, the child doesn't get a say and abortions are almost entirely due the the fact that it would be inconvenient for the would be parents.

That said, if it was up to me I'd cap it at 1st trimester and call it a day. Unfortunately, I don't think that genie is going back in the bottle and it's not the hill I'm gonna die on.

This would be a great argument if we didn't have perfectly capable couples waiting to adopt. Particularly white babies, infants who are healthy, there's a real scarcity. This situation might reverse, if abortion were seriously slowed down. Until then? Adopted babies live a lot better than aborted babies.

I see a lot of people have toxic ideas about women (such as women belong as wives and mothers, single and childless women are always miserable, women can’t be trusted with positions of power, women lose their worth as they age, etc. and I simply can’t agree.)

You see a lot of people, or a few people and a lot of strawmaning leftists claiming that's our ideology. It's not really, the core ideology is individual liberty and freedom. When you have that, it's actually okay for people to have different beliefs about other things, because they can't force their beliefs on you. Unlike the backward leftist ideology.

So yeah. I’m pro choice. That’s a biggie.

Pro life people get a bad rap because they've been effectively smeared as religious nutters and hypocrites. All reasonable arguments against abortion have been silenced, and replaced with a few flimsy or religious based ones, and moreover all pro life people are stereotyped as having all these other beliefs which they claim are not pro-life (e.g., they don't care about babies after they are born).

All lies and slander. The most pathetic one is the typical leftist argument that if you don't agree with them to the letter on exactly what they want to do or the exact amount of money they want to give people, then you hate people -- you hate poor people, babies, sick people, etc.

It's totally arbitrary. A leftist could propose giving 10% of your tax to welfare and they call themselves saints for being so generous with other peoples' money, but if a conservative says 8% is more reasonable, they're the devil. Why is 10% the "right" number? Why not 15%? Surely the leftist who advocates 10% is the devil compared to the super-leftist who wants 15%? And then the ultra-leftist wants 20! Where does it end, and why is the left's opinion of the month always the de facto "correct" thinking?

Anyway back to abortion. I'm atheist but I can see how the abortion issue has been twisted. There is nothing religious about considering a human life to begin at conception. It's actually a very good scientific basis -- the cells have been given their genetic material and begin their process of autonomous replication until the end of the person's life. A baby passing out of the woman's body, or some arbitrary number of weeks after which current medical science has a reasonable chance of keeping the baby alive, are far more arbitrary and unscientific measures.

And if you think that a state and its laws' most fundamental function is to protect the right of people to live, and to protect the people who can not protect themselves, then it's not at all hypocritical to believe abortion is very problematic. Maybe you can tolerate it in some situations, but it's not some celebration like the left treats it. You have to be under no illusion that you are choosing to end the life of another human who quite likely would have lived long enough to be born and learn to walk and talk and open birthday presents and go to school and get married and have their own children, if you had not made that choice. It's a tough burden to accept, but it's even tougher for the other person involved.

And if you believe that, then of course it's not just about women's choice. The left have smeared pro life people as having no motivation beyond "hating women" and wanting to punish sluts for having sex out of wedlock because of some alleged religious fundamentalism. These are yet more horrible, nasty lies and slander. Again, if you think a living human fetus is a person, then you now have two people's interests to weigh up, the mother's and the baby's. So in that case, pro-choice people are actually anti-choice when it comes to the baby's choice, aren't they? Just saying the baby isn't human and it's a clump of cells like a tumor is just a weak, pathetic cop-out, in my opinion. It's certainly a living thing, and it is distinct from the life of the mother (proof: it's possible for a woman to die while pregnant yet her baby be delivered alive or vice versa).

And you don't harvest organs without consent because 1) potentially extending or improving someone's life is not at all the same as choosing to take a life, and 2) more than one thing can be important, and the integrity of the human person is such a strong and old concept in law that it's very difficult to even interfere with their dead body. So you can imagine why people who agree with that protection to a person would also want a living baby to be protected as well. Not necessarily any hypocrisy there.

For what it's worth I don't think you're a bad person, and I'm not entirely pro-life (I realize that does make me inconsistent and hypocritical in some beliefs). I do think the left are bad for bullying slandering lying and disenfranchising and deplatforming the pro-life people, shutting down debate, refusing to compromise, and for lying and misinforming people about abortion issues and about the life of the fetus.

EDIT: I'm not telling you this to change your mind, I'm telling you this because there are millions of genuine, sincere conservatives for whom abortion looks like a holocaust because they see millions of people being slaughtered, butchered, experimented on, harvested of their organs and cells, and will never get a memorial in Poland or be mourned by history books or be remembered by their children and grandchildren. They're not out to get you, they don't hate women, they aren't backwards, they're upset about the issue and don't know what to do.

7
NvCrone 7 points ago +8 / -1

"Countries which outlaw abortions don’t see fewer abortions: they see more dead or injured women from unsafe back alley abortions."

Because PP/media doesn't let you hear about dead or injured women in their clinics. Just like nobody was willing to monitor, inspect, investigate, prosecute or even report on Kermit Gosnell and the women he killed, not to mention the living babies. And the states that try to put safeguards in place are always accused of trying to end abortion.

We are no longer in an era where contraception is unavailable, awkward, limited and unreliable. With freedom comes responsibility, even sexual freedom.

Welcome to The Donald. We are thrilled to have you join us in this endeavor. We will not always agree on everything, and that is as it should be,

There's also a BIG confusing overlap between people who are basically just engaging in locker room talk, and the ones actually espousing racism. What I've seen on this site is that tons of people will upvote a racial joke, but anybody trying to actually argue for racism gets downvoted and argued with. People here are super politically incorrect, but when push comes to shove there is little genuine racism. It fluctuates though. Waves come and go as people try to introduce various ideas into the conversation and then people argue about it.

From my point of view, I don't like late term abortions. There's a point where it gets bad. I don't know what that point is, but there's definitely a point there. I'm all for women getting good at things and earning their way up to positions of power. I have seen them do it. It's far from impossible. I don't like them being put into positions of power when they don't deserve it, and only because they're women. Earn it, or that 'position of power' is meaningless.

about women (such as women belong as wives and mothers, single and childless women are always miserable,

I don’t think anyone thinks women belong as wives and mothers. Although I think people often misinterpret the arguments surrounding that to mean that, but I don’t think people actually think that.

The argument is men and women are different and there are biological tendencies, and most—not all—men and women would be happier if they accepted traditional/natural gender roles. That’s the argument. It doesn’t mean anything more or less.

Of course it doesn’t apply to everyone. Both men and women have interest in many things or things outside the “norm” and it’s not black and white or consistent on every issue or topic. Plenty of women (And men) both today and in history, have found happiness and purpose outside of the “norm”

But on the whole, most people would simply be happier in traditional gender roles (but sadly modern feminism is toxic and making people who would be happier in traditional gender roles think they wouldn’t and is contributing to many people’s unhappiness)

-1
GingerFox [S] -1 points ago +2 / -3

I respect and appreciate your opinion and story. Thank you for sharing. I'm going to add my own opinion just for some discussion.

I was redpilled in late Obama years, then voted Trump 2016. Personally, I was never passionate one way or another about the abortion argument in 2016. And really up until recently I want either. I am not a religious man, and I have no children of my own.

That being said, after I started learning about how abortion propoganda is directed into black and latino neighborhoods and some of the recent movement to declare access to abortions a human rights (and should therefore be tax payer funded) I am personally very much against the abortion stance on the left, but not 100% in on the stance to the right.

I think having them available in certain situations (rape, incest, health of the mother) is absolutely critical. And in early term situations like yours I'm honestly on the fence. I think there are honest reasons and situations where having a child is going to be a really bad move for mother and the future of the child, but who the hell is going to be the judge on those situations?? I don't have a good answer for that, or other big questions about conception vs life.

Even the economic standpoint of the cost of a "free" (taxpayer) abortion VS raising a kid on welfare and social programs is an interesting one that leaves me smack dab on the fence again. It's a facinating debate I have very little opinion on.

Not sure where I'm going with this other than to say I find your story interesting, and to maybe start a productive conversation on one of a few sites online that allows some free discussion on issues that go against the grain of the site. Thanks for voting Trump my based ginger fren.

Abortion makes me sad, but I realize it's gonna happen. I guess I'd be considered pro-life to a degree, but it's not even on my top 10 list of issues I'd like to be dealt with. I know each and every one of us surrounds ourselves with different friends, co-workers, family, and we are all in different areas, but among my friends and co-workers, I have yet to talk to a single supporter of the President that has ever spoken about abortion - males and females. Obviously some people have much stronger opinions on it, but for me, it is not even in my top 10 just as you said.

3
Leatherwood 3 points ago +6 / -3

It is a huge ethical question worthy of thought, when you have time to get to it. From my perspective, they should have to explain exactly what they are going to do with the fetus and then get permission from the woman. Anything other than that is completely unethical.

Did you know that women are at their happiest when they are fulfilling their naturally given role as mothers and wives? Are you aware that a man is equally as happy when he is providing for his family? That is a man's role. Men and women should not be competing against each other over the same roles, instead when they form a team their whole is worth more than the sum of their parts.

The statistics do bear that out, yes. You are young, so you can be happy being both single and childless, but as you get closer to 30, you will see how that changes. Your brain chemicals will change and thus so will your desires. Remember this comment in 5 years :p.

women can’t be trusted with positions of power

This comes from the fact that women are more tolerant and emotional. Look at our society now, with all of this 'tolerance' and 'inclusiveness', where the hell has it gotten us? Nowhere good. Tolerant societies eventually fall to the invasion of stronger intolerant societies.

women lose their worth as they age

This is true only for women who rely on their beauty and provide nothing else. Good women do not lose their worth as they age. Sure, their looks may wane, but is inevitable for everyone, and instead they make up for it by being a solid partner to their husband, a great mother to their children, and maintaining the home so that her husband and children can succeed. If the husband succeeds, the wife and children do as well. It's all a symbiotic system.

I recommend that you listen to the book Hard Times Create Strong Men, it's a great read and it will also help you better understand what you should be looking for in a potential husband and life partner.

Good on you for having an open mind.

I don’t agree with you on many of these points. I’ve met lots of women who never married or had children and went on to have fulfilling lives anyway. Not everybody has to live the same way.

I don’t care about building a path for a man and my nonexistent children to succeed. I want to build my own path to success.

I find men who hold these ideals are subconsciously afraid of strong women or women who think for themselves.

I see where you’re coming from as far as the woman thing but I don’t think most people on this forum think woman should stay home with the children or lose their worth, but rather woman should be free to choose whether they want to stay at home without being put down by society. I grew up in a single home household and my mom was always always working. So my siblings and I pretty much raised ourselves. So I always said if I meet someone “she is welcome to stay home and form a strong relationship with the kids and be there for their soccer games and be there at their recitals” because I never had that. If she wants to work, fine, but I’m going to work less and spend more time with the kids then and be there for them.

And as far as the abortions, I think it’s mostly unfair for the woman. A couple has a kid and gets an abortion. They break up. The guy never has to worry about it again. And the woman is stuck with the trauma forever. I’ve seen some girls after an abortion and they just aren’t the same. Like numb to the world.

3
GingerFox [S] 3 points ago +4 / -1

I can’t speak for all women but I personally don’t have trauma from it. More like relief.

1
wcfields 1 point ago +1 / -0

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

Abortion isn't going to become illegal. The only reason it even gets discussed is to divide and conquer. The stated value of the left, "legal, safe and rare" is not at all any condition the US has ever seen. It's a good value, greatly improved over the status quo.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

Btw not so many people here have these toxic ideas. You see their posts on that topic a lot. It bugs me too.

I haven't figured out a good way to roundly vanquish them, lol So I mainly just ignore that. I think it's a social pendulum thing, over correcting

0
GingerFox [S] 0 points ago +3 / -3

I think people who have those ideals are afraid of strong women.

-1
anishr -1 points ago +4 / -5

Women belong as wives and mothers. Childless women are always miserable too. These are not “conservative” ideas. Humanity has known these two simple truths of life for eons. Why are you challenging this? You literally mentioned earlier how you suffered trauma, had to undergo counseling, etc.

Why is being a wife/mother bad??!! It’s one of the most honorable jobs on planet earth. Take pride in it. It’s never too late to abandon your blue hair colored days.

The only thing backward here is you rejecting millennia of evolution.

1
GingerFox [S] 1 point ago +3 / -2

Yeah, no....I’ve known plenty of people who never married or had children and went on to have an awesome life anyway. I’m saving up to get sterilized.

Just because I went through counseling doesn’t mean it’s related to my choice to not have children.

Women are more likely to regret having children than being childfree. And I like my free time and money belonging to me. Once a child is in the picture it’s not about you anymore.

I find men who try to argue women on these things are subconsciously afraid of strong women or women who decide to live their lives and not give a fuck about what those men say.

0
anishr 0 points ago +1 / -1

Smh here we go about strong women.

“Just because I went through counseling doesn’t mean it’s related to my choice to not have children.”

Why not? Have you thought about it? There are thousands of philosophers over multiple millennia who disagree with you. There are several religious figures across various countries again over multiple millennia who disagree with you. Have you ever once gathered the humility to ponder over how they might actually be saying something truthful? Or do you believe you already have this figured out?

0
Satire 0 points ago +2 / -2

women lose their worth as they age,

Some points take more time to explain than others, but this one? This is...so basic.

Surely you don't reject that women lose worth as they age? Surely you are not so detached from reality as to think that your value at age 21 is the same as your value at age 41?

I realize it has some sting. We all get old. Don't try to deny reality though, that will cause you a lot of heartache in life.

Your argument for abortion is ridiculous. No one is impregnating you without your consent, if they are, that is called rape, and no one supports it.

You got pregnant of your own free will. You consented to the sex with a man. You were not ignorant of the consequences, either. You knew what sex produces.

Now you want to argue that your right to "consent" is being taken away if you don't get to kill a baby? Absolutely fucking insane. What about the CHILD's right to consent? Do you suppose it might be nice to get the developing human child's consent before it is killed for your own selfish benefit and convenience?

If you follow the path of reason and logic you might possibly be headed down, I warn you, sooner or later you will have to face the truth that you have killed your first child. This comment you have just written will shame you deeply.

Or, you will continue to lie yourself and make up some bullshit to rationalize your decision.

3
GingerFox [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

Women only lose their worth if they believe they do. I don’t need to lie to myself; I’ve met women of all ages who rock their bodies, their homes, their careers, and their hobbies.

I’ve also met women who crap their lives away because they shat out a child.

I know what I want out of life and don’t give two fucks as to boomers who want to keep free spirited women down because they get upset at the thought of women who live their lives based on the paths they forge, not some silly archaic views.

Pregnancy should not be a punishment. I’d have another abortion:

Not all of us are republicans or staunch conservatives, im a lifelong libertarian from liberal stronghold Cambridge MA... Trump was my first vote ever for one of the two uniparties. That's one thing about Trump supporters, some are Republicans, some are conservatives, some are Libertarians or even Democrats now while progressives/leftists dems are usually much more homogeneous. Many like me don't give a crap if you're gay or not, ironically one of my big selling points for voting Trump was lowering taxes reducing government and no more Wars. It's amazing that in 2016 you had to vote for the GOP to want less Wars or foreign interventions.

To be honest I know a lot of people here that feel the same way l do and live by Simple Rules. Be who you want to be and do what you want to do as long as it doesn't infringe on other people's rights, doesn't hurt people that don't want to be hurt, doesn't involve kids, I don't have to pay for it and you stay the hell off my lawn.

After birth... once the child can speak give it the choice if it wants to be aborted. -S

Life begins at conception, fact.

-6
GoldenPotatoRequiem -6 points ago +2 / -8

Aborting a baby less than roughly 7 weeks old is not much different than cutting down a tree. Yes, both are alive, but they lack real thought, motivation, or anything for that matter.

This is why I feel so different for something such as second/third trimester. The baby can kick, think, and make certain actions on its own will. It is definitely its own legitimate being.

1
Getfuckedcommietrash 1 point ago +1 / -0

Not fact.

4
GingerFox [S] 4 points ago +6 / -2

I’d say 12 weeks. So just the second trimester.

I got mine at 5 weeks.

2
GoldenPotatoRequiem 2 points ago +4 / -2

Oh, so right up to the second trimester? That’s fair, but I’d say seven weeks.

People like to say a beating heart rule, which would be about five weeks, but a fly has a beating heart, too. That doesn’t mean I’m not gonna try (and probably fail) to clap it out of the air.

The human mind is quite obviously the most advanced out of all other creatures on the planet. It starts developing at roughly seven weeks in the womb, so an abortion should be done within a week.

Sometimes it can be absolutely necessary, so yes, abortion up to the second trimester should be legal, but ideally seven weeks is what I would say.

What ideologies do you see around here that are ass backwards?

I see some, too. The funny thing is, so many people do as well - BUT - what I've noticed is that people respect them because they are not being forced on to others.

This is what blows mind about this community. People have different views (in some cases they are extremely different) but they are respected and not shit on. Other communities isn't not the same.

This community gets the concept of free speech, exchange and respect of different ideas, and supporting each other simply because we are American.

Anyways, just wondered.

some douchebags who can’t get out of 1950

Hello?...that period--post WW2 from 1948 to 1956--was the time of the 'Beat Generation'. An underground, anti-conformist youth movement that started in New York. Some great literature, art and dark smokey nightclub music (jazz) that allowed you to chill and think. Y would've loved it. Everything clean (i.e no AIDS) and FREE to be y'self or 'experiment'.

[Btw, I wasn't there but I've read the books]

I’m talking about the ones who tout that women must get married and have children.

0
CuomoisaMassMurderer 0 points ago +1 / -1

You may have seen the SNL spoofs on DJT wanting to make the US 1950's again. What's-her-names comnletely over the top portrayal of Jeff Sessions, as an opossum. Pretty funny! I wonder if this has shaped your remark here?

What you're talking about was really prevalent in the 60's, those women daring to break that stereotype were really pioneers. Which is really strange because WWII saw women needing to be very independent.

Once in a while SNL gets it right in terms of "the pulse of the Nation." Like right after the 2016 election when Michael Che said 32 genders is why the Democrats lost the election. It was only humorous in that really awkward way because there was so much truth to it.

Don’t get me started.

I’m a white woman. I’m both privileged and a victim according to the left.

In all seriousness, there’s sexism toward both men and women in America: there’s also racism in all directions. That should not be a controversial statement.

13
chuckachookah 13 points ago +13 / -0

there’s also racism in all directions. That should not be a controversial statement.

Right, people are c*nts.

But it shouldn't be a cudgel that one race gets to open beat the others with, all while claiming justification.

GingerFox [S] 15 points ago +15 / -0

We’ll never live in a post racial society if people keep being racist.

GingerFox [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

2
chuckachookah 2 points ago +2 / -0

It really just takes people that are different to sit down for more than a few minutes, over a cup of coffee/beer, and everyone will learn the following about one another:

  • Their life has probably sucked in certain ways, just like yours has too
  • Their life has probably had some awesome shit happen, just like yours has too
  • Their life has had ups and downs, just like yours has too
  • They are probably excited and scared about what the future might hold, just like you too

And, then most people from differing backgrounds with vastly different ideas and even various different hair colors ;) realize --we're born, we live, and we die; how we conduct ourselves is what makes our lives matter.

The only thing is --people have to be ok to have a conversation, not provide a lecture or shoutdown others through a megaphone.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

Never have I lived in a society where anyone could openly say anything along the lines of "black lives don't matter," and I was born in 1964. Many many of us here truly lived in the "post racial society" you say never existed. You were what, 12, when Obama took Office? He made everything exponentially worse. Plannedriots are largely his doing, and that has pushed race relations back 50 years or more.

Before 9/11 it was largely different yet again. The 70's varied regionally, while the 80's and 90's mostly nobody cared what your skin color was. As counter-intuitive as it may be, Archie Bunker had a lot to do with this. People stuck in racism saw how ridiculous it was. Those that couldn't shed it learned they'd better keep it under wraps, if that was the best they could do.

You came along at a terrible time wrt this. And not a speck of it is natural, it's all pushed as divide and conquer strategy; part of the effort you do see to destroy the US. It takes 0 talent to prey upon the worst of human nature and get Americans to hate their fellow Americans. Yet they have done exactly this, along every axis of polarization imaginable.

I know you said you’re more of a liberal person, and somewhat on that note, Trump has had many liberal stances from the beginning, such as right to gay marriage, staying out of foreign wars, etc. So much so that at the republican debates, some were questioning if he was even republican. Hell, Ted Cruz said on stage that Trump would appoint liberal judges to the Supreme Court.

Trump's done more for the democratic voter than the last three democratic admins combined (five if we count each term). He also has a grudge to bear of John F. Kennedy and Kennedy Jr (John John). I think he knows they killed them. Possibly so Hillary could have her turn at the senate.

He's a better democrat than the current crop by far, and he's very good to conservatives too.

I've never seen anything like it and I've seen a lot. Speaking of, it is great to see you here. :)

I used to be an Obama supporter. How did I wind up here?

Trump is furthering causes I care about. Literally all of them:

Environment - nuclear Prison reform Fighting human trafficking

And many causes I didn't know I cared about

He's been fabulous on human trafficking. Makes my heart happy.

I've been a bohemian psychedelic counter-culture hippie freak since the early nineties. Trump winning in 2016 was one of the most ecstatic experiences I've ever had in my life.

I’m right there with you, though I’m probably a bit younger.

Most people that meet me think I must be a raging liberal. I’m agnostic, have long hair, pierced ears, big glasses, tattoos, do pshycs (but hate weed, and still %100 for decriminalization), listen to psychedelic blues/folk, etc. But I’ve never voted so hard for someone as I did for Trump in 2016 and it surprises so many people when I tell them.

I get a real kick out of telling people who assume I must think just like them because of how I look and what I’m into. The most fun I ever had was Tinder dates and watching girls brains melt when I told them I was on the Trump train (Caused a few total meltdowns in public. It was glorious.)

We’re everywhere, right under the commies noses and they have no idea.

I always wonder why Blue hair?

Very old people get blue hair naturally.

Also, Blue Blood is a term used for nobility in the past.. because they had silver utensils and too much exposure turns one blue.

I wonder if one of those have todo with it.

Blue for Democrat color?

shrugs I was 17. It seemed cool. Had blue for most of my late teens.

Also, I love a good electric blue.

Sometimes a girl just wants blue hair. It’s not a political statement. It’s hair.

Well, not being judgmental, I’m just curious why blue?

Why not pink? Or Green?

Or some other color?

Many of the alt-culture? Go for blue.

Wondering why blue

"I like blue. Still like blue."

That's alright. You're new to the Trump Train, but that was an easy meme to make. You'll be speaking our language in no time!

Old people don't get blue hair naturally. Old people get a blue rinse done to take the yellow dinge out of grey or white hair. If it's done right it makes a gorgeous platinum blonde color. Source: am an older lady with natural silver tresses.

And for OP: Be me. 1978. 16 years old punk rocker. Cut off all my hair so other punks don't think I'm a weekend poseur. Also because I'm afraid of ambush haircuts. Yes that was a thing. Leave a long rat tail in the back. Dye it red, white, and blue and wear it in a braid. Very patriotic. Confuses many people and makes me crazy happy.

Welcome to the fun train. <3

Giant tropical centipedes share their territory with tarantulas. Despite its impressive length, it is a nimble navigator and spends much of its life patrolling the grounds for food. Centipedes are among Earth’s oldest terrestrial animals. These primeval creatures have existed for about four hundred million years; and some can be highly VENOMOUS.

Like the tarantula...
