Honestly I do not know why they took such a gamble with Rogan in the first place. Rogan will not survive on spotify. Rogan had amazing numbers because youtube always autoplayed his videos after every moderate to right leaning video if you wanted to watch him or not. Basically Rogan was propped up by youtube and his numbers were artificially inflated.

208
spaceforce_chaplain 208 points ago +208 / -0

Agreed. I hated being in the shower listening to Akkad Daily, Styxhexenhammer666, The Rageaholic, etc. and then have autoplay direct itself to Joe Rogan. I was never a subscriber, and his shit kept coming up regardless. I don't wanna sound overly harsh on the guy. He's okayish and some of his old interviews with conservatives and non-leftists were cool, but suffice it to say, I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to him.

ever notice how most of his political videos are a voice modulation trick? He starts out light tone and easy going, then gradually revs up in tension, increasing speed and volume of his monologue up to the end. Than cuts out with the same phrase.

I like what the guy has to say, but he is playing off an old trick to get people's blood up and confusing the listener's psyche into wanting more, training a Pavlovian response with stock ending phrase.

I wonder if he is able to pull that off so consistently in one take now.

How convenient

24
jennyfrutex 24 points ago +24 / -0

Same here. I was never a Rogan subscriber, but he's had some interesting guests, including non-political ones. When I started getting fit, I listened to his interviews with Rhonda Patrick to learn about nutrition. He interviewed a young woman who left the Westboro Baptist church, he interviewed Leah Remini about her experiences in Scientology, he even interviewed two of the professors who wrote the grievance study hoax papers (that one was hilarious).

I disagree with Rogan on a lot of things. But I think what I've appreciated about Rogan has been his willingness to talk to everyone, right- or left-leaning. And this sudden purge of his old stuff flies in the face of what a lot of people have always liked about him.

14
ClownTamer 14 points ago +14 / -0

It’s weird that they’re doing it considering Rogan had been rumored by Jones and others to have made the deal so he wouldn’t be censored. Now he’s going to be more censored than ever? Rogan isn’t going to be Rogan. If it’s just Rogan talking to a bunch of leftists all the time and avoiding topics, I’m out.

6
Kolob 6 points ago +6 / -0

If they don't backtrack everyone will stop listening. I love listening to Joe because it is open and uncensored. I even like listening to people I think are full of it to hear other viewpoints.

3
BustedFlush 3 points ago +3 / -0

6
ClownTamer 6 points ago +6 / -0

Not really. He’s had Alex Jones on there, Tim Pool, Shapiro, Crowder, Owens, you name it. All throughout the lockdown he’s mostly made fun of it and is even fleeing CA over it.

3
DocOne 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's not all he's ever done, not by a longshot. He has done that, of course but he has plenty of right wing guests and say what you want about him selling his soul for $100M, his interviews with right wing folks are very good. He lets them talk, asks appropriate questions and he at least appears to genuinely consider what they're saying.

1
CampinAndBam 1 point ago +1 / -0

Rhonda Patrick’s health studies on broccoli sprouts are incredible. Stuff is no joke.

16
MustBeTrump 16 points ago +16 / -0

Exactly the same story from me, either that or Fox news plays and I've gotta start choosing a new video.

People are fucking dumb, they think that it's all a numbers game, they don't consider these kind of variables which I'm certain influence the views and popularity massively. Didn't know that so many people were boycotting but it's good to see.

That's a very interesting theory

28
minibud 28 points ago +28 / -0

And he collected $100m for it.

Think of it as a payoff. He gets to appear as though he's still doing his show but he's effectively been blue-pilled. Old content still stands on Youtube but zero valuable new content. A $100m parachute and he gets to avoid being called "right wing" ever again.

It's basically his slow-walked retirement of JRE.

11
HungNavySeal300Kills 11 points ago +12 / -1

I didn't realize there was an alternative theory...

5
christianknight 5 points ago +5 / -0

21
PatPede1 21 points ago +21 / -0

https://www.rollingstone.com/pro/news/who-really-owns-spotify-955388/

There must be a play that basically doesn't care what happens to the content, they will be mining data or something else. Also, Rogan always brands himself as a moderate to progressive. He chose Austin basically because he just started fearing how many people were in Southern CA, and CA is about to tax the shit out of anyone near his new net worth. His whole relocation is more than covered by tax savings. He doesn't realize that if the City of Austin had it's way, or if he maintains his moderate to progressive bullshit, Austin will be exactly like LA.

8
PROCIsAsshoe 8 points ago +8 / -0

He's also stated support for Sanders in the past. Classic "taxes for thee not for me" BS.

9

42
SwampSlayer39 42 points ago +42 / -0

Exactly. His podcasts were already on the decline in terms of interest. The decision was made by a bunch of autistic statisticians that didn’t take any real projective thought into account. I lost interest in Rogan, who I used to like, not for anything political, but because the podcast has completely run its course and now it’s insanely repetitive.

27
crazyfingers619 27 points ago +27 / -0 (edited)

He probably fingered Susan Wojcicki a couple times and she adjusted the entire platform to inflate his #'s.

Rogan always seemed artificially leftist, I wouldn't be surprised if he had strong connections with silicon valley alongside his hollywood presence. He's in "the club". Purple haired weirdos aren't the movers and shakers, it's the people who know how to manipulate them. I wouldn't be surprised if Joe isn't in line or already in the deep state but he's moving to Texas and getting his retirement money because the writing is on the wall.

With all his connections and social skills Joe would be one of the first to be given the golden parachute before the turning of the tides, he's a political vagrant who will lick whoever's asshole is in power for social currency like most everyone else on the left.

/tinfoilhat I know, but i calls 'em like i sees em.

I have plans with a friend to do LSD and when we are kinda coming down, smoke some weed (I don't smoke anymore so it will definitely kick start something extra) and watch the JRE of "Alex Jones returns". I hope it will still be on YouTube in a couple weeks or so when we decide to do it. I haven't done LSD much but goddamn it is fucking fun with the right people, and comfy setting. Last time I did it with two friends when the peak was over we just watched silly YouTube videos and one of them put this on and I LOST IT. I couldn't stop laughing.

LSD is not like you think. It is a gift from God to show mankind the error of his ways.

-1
Carlos_Danger1 -1 points ago +3 / -4

Thats honestly what junkies say. I have taken lsd multiple times to help me 'learn' or whatever people pretend its for.

It is all a lie to justify seeing cool shit and seeing it melt. Seriously, i stared at a random syphon filter ad and listened to a single afi song on repeat for like 30 minutes one trip.

If you want to get high go ahead, you're just lying if you think you'll obtain enlightenment through drug usage.

6
steven3960 6 points ago +6 / -0

LSD helped me turn my life around. It helped me realize that many of my habits were detrimental to myself and others. These are long lasting realizations which remain with me while sober. You are entitled to your opinion, but whatever it is it does not change the fact that LSD helped me change my life for the better. Try to have a more open mind, you might learn something.

-2
TJHWP -2 points ago +1 / -3

All LSD was ever proven to do was affect your retina creating visual disturbances.Migraines will do the same thing and LSD was created to reproduce the migraine effect. It has no psychotropic effects at all. That is to say, your brain isn’t affected by LSD just your eyes. So life changing philosophical epiphanies were kind of your own script in these events. But urban myths are important too, so rave away.

5
christianknight 5 points ago +5 / -0

Lmao

4
Snipthetipandsip 4 points ago +10 / -6

Make sure you have some milk handy. There's an edge to LSD nothing but milk seems to take off. Not sure if it's because we all have calcium deficiency and that we feel it more while tripping or if the calcium actually does something to weaken the trip. However, it works. If you're in your head to much, feeling it to heavy, or took to much... Milk does the trick!

Alex shilled this so hard on his show, talking about how Joe was gonna go to war and big things are in the works.

There are so few people you cant take with a grain of salt anymore.

Fact of the matter is that Joe has always been a drugged out lib with flashes of greatness coursing through his poisoned brain.

Alex has been cucked ever since the Sandy Hook lawyers came after him... hell I probably would be too, it's scary what they did to him.

10
JudicialDredd 10 points ago +10 / -0

Exactly. Ive been listening to Jones for years. He's been wrong alot. But he also covers as much news in a 4 hour broadcast as our front page does in that same time. He's an absolute news monster when he runs through stacks. T

The man would take a bullet for trump and anyone who shills that he's some mossad triple agent or just a larp, is a fucking idiot. We've dealt with anti jones'ers since back on reddit. They say the same moronic shit everytime.

3
ThePowerOfPrayer 3 points ago +3 / -0

Meh, Jones was livestreaming a Russian invasion on New Year's Eve 1999 that never actually happened.

William Cooper called out Jones for that and basically labeled him controlled opposition.

Meanwhile, Cooper predicted 9-11 on June 28, 2001 after watching a CNN broadcast.

https://youtu.be/lLHVQUTrgvM

-5
sir_rockness -5 points ago +7 / -12

Did you listen to Alex before this year? Yeah he got cucked.

Might have been his own personal problems that caused it idk, but the guy is not the same as he used to be since the litigation against him regarding Sandy Hook.

Maybe he is just getting old. I don't really know how you could maintain that energy level for 6 months, let alone all the years he's been doing it anyway.

1
Carlos_Danger1 1 point ago +1 / -0

I had not listened to him for years and recently came back.

He's definitely more mellow. I hope hes sober now. But i also think part of it is that, hes been proven right. Now is not the time to get yourself worked up in a rage to warn people that civil war is coming .... It's already here.

Something he said was that now is not the time to worry because God has given him all the skills and everything that he could need for the upcoming civil war. That he was grateful for all the past battles that hr thought were a curse, but now sees as his learning

8
iamherefortheluls 8 points ago +8 / -0

Joe Rogan Podcast - Alex Jones returns.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5yh2HcIlkU

He explains his side of the story.

Tl,DR - media did a consistent smear job of him, claiming that he was directing people to harass mass shooting victims. He did not do that, but they kept using cheating tactics such as pretending to engage him in a civil conversation to get any quote they could twist into yet another false article.

He took a while to wise up to it and realized that media is not to be trusted under any circumstances. His one admission is that he now realizes that in talking about such matters, people with large following have to account for the fact that there is a tiny minority of people who really are crazy and may react with complete lack of good judgement. The end.

1
lilbuffkitty 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thank you sir I will get around to watching this at some point

44
SwampSlayer39 44 points ago +47 / -3

Nice move, Joe.

Alex Jones was actually dumb enough to be conned into being convinced that Joe was just saving up his 50 favorite episodes to remain on YouTube and not Spotify. Either that or Alex was smart enough to oust how STUPID Joe Rogan’s excuse was while giving him a chance to right his wrong.

6
geebeext 6 points ago +15 / -9

Or Alex is owned by the same pedis y

15
XirWokeMasterCuck 15 points ago +15 / -0

This controlled opposition concept of Alex seems ridiculous to me. We will literally turn everything into a controlled op conspiracy. You know people said r/The_donald was controlled op. Then they said .win was a controlled op. Maybe everything on every side is controlled op and there isnt even a battle.

6

4
iamherefortheluls 4 points ago +4 / -0

This one guy seems to be fighting the good fight, but lets take a closer look. He had 20 years and did not yet personally overthrow the Establishment and litter Washington with the corpses of traitors. Clearly controlled opposition.

4
Darkest 4 points ago +4 / -0

I always thought Trump himself was a controlled op, to have a figurehead president to blame while DC trashes the country. Media would control the narrative on whatever issues they wanted people mad at and DC would run just like Obama. Made sense since they literally made him win the rnc primaries.

But then we didn't start a new war, ended old ones, and made our country better.

Promises kept

1

It is common knowledge in many professional intelligence circles that Alex works for : Stratfor.
Stratfor is an American geopolitical intelligence platform and publisher founded in 1996 in Austin, Texas, by George Friedman.

If true I would suspect he is controlled opposition. I have not seen any definitive proof of Alex working for Stratfor and I can't see how that company would benefit from Alex making a movie like ENDGAME gloabl enslavement.

if he's controlled opposition why would the deep state expose itself like that in the first place

31
Grumio 31 points ago +31 / -0

Everyone I know including myself listens to maybe 1 out of every 8 episodes. However the podcast apps all automatically download every episode. Spotify is about to learn he isn’t as popular as they thought he was if they track what’s actually listened to.

16
loopypoopy 16 points ago +16 / -0

Yeah, I listen to 1 a month. When he has a good guest on he's great because he doesn't do the same boring questions you get on other interview shows. But the vast majority of people he brings on I couldn't care enough to even play in the background.

6
lifeisahologram 6 points ago +6 / -0

I agree. He seldom has a truly great guest. Maybe he has a handful of okay guests worth listening to sometimes for background noise if youre cleaning. But the majority are useless people with stupid and useless things to say. A surprising amount of “orange man bad...i dont know why, but like orange man bad” guests

0
CanHush 0 points ago +0 / -0

That's even better for Spotify. They want to bring people to their service, so if most are like you Rogan will bring people in excess of his average listeners.

8
DeltaTango 8 points ago +8 / -0

Yeah, I'm subscribed, but I rarely listen to his show. It's usually some boring MMA or Hollywood fool I've never heard of. Ironically, the only ones I listen to are mostly the ones they've removed. Which is probably why they removed them.

1
ObjectiveReality 1 point ago +1 / -0

People please, Spotify didn't buy Rogan to turn a profit, they did it to take him off the board. He we be wildly less successful, less accessible, and will see his audience shrink dramatically.

AND THAT'S THE POINT

These companies are just pieces to sacrifice to further the owner's (collective) ends. You think companies exist to make money, but in their minds money is just one of several ends.

Rogan to c9, takes cash

Spotify takes Rogan

Chapter 9 takes Spotify

but Rogan is off the board

It doesn't matter how bad a financial deal it was, It doesn't matter how many users Spotify loses. What matters is that Rogan loses the audience of casual listeners of convenience that he had on YT learning shit they weren't supposed to.

Why did they remove conservative episodes ?

30
Walther [S] 30 points ago +30 / -0

IDK they are not uploading episodes with Alex Jones, Milo, Gavin McInnes, Mikaela Peterson and others.. Turned Joe Rogan into a liar when he said 'It would be the exact same show'. Hey Joe, it's obviously not the exact same show if you're being censored.

10
patriotX 10 points ago +11 / -1

And he’s obviously rich and doesn’t give a fuck. Next.

4
Light_HIV_Effect 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yep, just about to mention that he said "it would be the exact same show, all the episodes would transfer over it would just be on a different platform."

Alex Jones, like him or not, was one of the better guests on there in recent memory, plus Eddie Bravo trolling him was hilarious

4
fickelbra 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yup. Hearing this news made me have a different view altogether of him. He’s just letting it happen.

I downloaded those episodes because I expect them to suddenly get pulled from YouTube.

4
Macatho 4 points ago +4 / -0

Expecting a carpetbagger like Joe Rogan to have principles? oof

The guy is just another stoned out commie lib who puts on a front because he's affiliated with UFC and wants to keep Dana's crowd from running him out of there.

3
Crockett 3 points ago +3 / -0

they are not uploading episodes with Alex Jones, Milo, Gavin McInnes, Mikaela Peterson and others..

This is the first I've heard of that and it's absolutely fucking insane.

2
TyrantsAreCucks 2 points ago +2 / -0

IDK they are not uploading episodes with Alex Jones

What's super odd is Alex Jones giving him the benefit of the doubt and making a statement defending him the other day, saying it was just going to take extra processing time from spotify and that there were some conversion errors for the platform or something.

Sounded like total horse shit obviously. I always look at Alex with a skeptical eye because I think he's controlled opposition, but you've gotta wonder how he would benefit from lying about why he's being censored on Spotify. It's all so odd.

2
ippwndu 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's weird because I listen to Dan Bongino on Spotify. They don't censor his episodes.

15
WizKidJohnQ 15 points ago +15 / -0

Joe's cool. I know because he constantly reminds me how he's fiscally conservative yet socially Liberal. He"s practically one of us. In fact, he has moved to Texas and will proceed to tell Texan's how ignorant they are and how to solve things starting with Fairness. /s

RoGAIN would never admit it, but he as a LOT of Conservatives who listen to his Podcast, Rogans biggest problem is hes an Hardcore Atheist and detests Christians, so he plays along with that crowd, insulting his Right leaning bases intelligence!

UNtil he accepts this , this Spotify deal will probably end up being broken by Spotify, because they dont want the headaches they also dont want the Right having ANY kind of voice on their platform!

8
DontDoxMeBro 8 points ago +8 / -0 (edited)

I use Spotify but don't want to support a platform that censors people based on their political leanings.

What's a good alternative?

E- Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going the old school method. I listen to the same music all the time anyway.

7

I’m probably going to the second option again after 5 years of Spotify premium

1
ippwndu 1 point ago +1 / -0

Last time I compared (granted, it was years ago), Amazon didn't have near the catalog that Spotify does.

2
Macatho 2 points ago +2 / -0

Amazon's catalog is really lacking. Probably because they actually put effort in only listing things they have permission/licensing to.

Spotify puts whatever it wants in it's library and waits for whoever owns the content to pursue legal action and deal with the ramifications then.

4
Walther [S] 4 points ago +5 / -1

I believe YouTube to be a superior experience, however it's the same shitty situation

2
iamherefortheluls 2 points ago +2 / -0

idk. I seriously believe personalities like Tim Pool, Sargon and Styx are making the bigger difference in current US election than MSNBC, CNN, NYT or Fox.

And they are doing it through YouTube. And Youtube keeps allowing them to do so.

I have long been on the 'Google is asshoe' bandwagon - but them not banning these influencers is really hard to fit into my narrative. I thought for a while they might be 'controlled opposition' but there is a reason Trump is tweeting out Tim Pools tweet.

1
PartTimeHick 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's not lack of effort on YouTube's part, but they reluctantly go along.

Judging by the recent drama with nonpolitical youtubers with a video of some cartoon characters beating up a russian guy and animal abusers, YouTube's whole algorithm and regulation system might just be fucking retarded in the first place.

3
SellTheSun 3 points ago +3 / -0

malooch 8 points ago +8 / -0

AJ come out and said the episodes aren’t being censored there’s just a lag in uploading everything and a lot of the conservative ones are going to end up in joes top 100 or some shit. Anyone else hear this? If Alex and Jordan and ben and the rest aren’t on spotify I’m done with joe. Never gave a shit about him, cared about his guests more and the interviews. I’m fine listening to Tim pool and styx and shit like that instead. Joe went the way of Howard, I hope I’m wrong

7
DestroyerofCobwebs 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yes I heard that, not sure what to believe anymore. As days go by that explanation makes less and less sense. It's been over a week now, the lag excuse is starting to sound pretty ridiculous.

1
TyrantsAreCucks 1 point ago +1 / -0

Especially with no statement from Joe. This wouldn't be the first time Alex has made statements for Joe Rogan and then Joe says something entirely different a few days later or even just never speaks about it.

Fuck Joe Rogan. All the anti-establishment people he now doesn't associate with are the people who made his career. He doesn't deserve to be remembered anymore. He could have been a great part of history, but now he's a whitewashed, establishment-ring-kissing subservient loser. He'll go the same way as Howard Stern. Instead of being remembered as a special person, he will fade in to obscurity as just some pathetic waste of a life fake media personality.

7
gillonba 7 points ago +7 / -0

Didn't Joe promise that his content would not be affected? That didn't age well.

3
Light_HIV_Effect 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah he did, I'm sure this is just some administrative oversight that only effects conservative or right wing interviews.

6
123breadman 6 points ago +6 / -0

Joe Rogan is a democrat.

6
Bluntman 6 points ago +6 / -0

Seems like stupid move to remove episodes like people wouldn't be outraged when it's clearly a political bias

6
TheLighthouseBlues 6 points ago +6 / -0

This really does break my heart. I've listened to him for so long. I've definitely disagreed with him about many things, but I always thought he was one of the good guys.

The Jack Dorsey podcast was the first time I thought something was off, but then he had him back on with Tim Pool. But then on Tim Pool's last podcast, Joe was abnormally critical and confrontational with him. He was trying really hard to disguise it and seem normal, but it was as if he was trying as hard as possible not to say "you're full of shit."

And now this? What a fucking disappointment.

5
Chuck_Nutmeat 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'll just delete Joe from my podcast app and not listen anymore. I only ever listened if I saw a name I was interested in. same thing happened with last podcast on the left. Listenership drops off a cliff, propped up by the sweet sweet Spotify money.

1
jive-ass-turkey 1 point ago +1 / -0

So did !.

I have started listening to Jordan Peterson's Biblical lecture series and am completely hooked.

If you enjoyed his interviews on Rogan and/or have any interest in the Biblical stories it is fascinating.

I also like Mike Rowe's "The Way I Heard It" which is a 10 min per episode podcast in the mold of the old Paul Harvey "The Rest of the Story". But I could listen to Mike Rowe read the phone book.

4
RustySpokes 4 points ago +4 / -0

The line being given is "corrupted files." Which doesn't make much sense in 2020 when they could just be ripped from iTunes. The originals are likely gigantic files spanned across several hard drives, so maybe? Rogan is one of the only decent people in Hollywood, I'll be pretty sad if he knowingly fucked conservatives like that.

Article:

"Alex Jones issued a statement saying he spoke to Rogan, who said Spotify is not censoring him and explained that there were migration issues with corrupted files. Jones also claimed more content will be migrated over, but after the podcast moves exclusively to Spotify on Dec. 31, 100 of Rogan’s favorite episodes will remain on YouTube, where Rogan believes they’ll probably get more views"

https://roguerocket.com/2020/09/02/joe-rogan-denies-rumors/

3
jive-ass-turkey 3 points ago +3 / -0

Corrupted files? Do they realize this is not a great answer considering this is a company seeking to launch a competitor to YouTube? At least from a technical perspective?

Do they expect us to believe they were running their only copy of the podcasts off a RAID 5 array in their closet?

The left always overestimates their intelligence and underestimates that of their opponents. It is the same dance every time.

Does Spotify and/or Joe realize that in this political environment they don't posses the credibility to make such claims without providing a shred of evidence?

I swear these people think it is still 2014 and it is business as usual. I bet they never even considered communicating the actual issue they are facing. They probably are deciding between a list of lies ranked by how believable they think they are.

What Spotify doesn't get is they are concentrating on "getting away with it" when the damage has already been done.

They had an opportunity to use this issue to be transparent and set themselves apart from YouTube. They needed to fix the problem quickly and communicate proactive because they are launching a new service.

Any moves they make now will be under the microscope and perceived as setting the likely precedent for how they will run their new platform in the future.

I am not a soothsayer, shaman, or work in media. The significance of this roll-out should have come as a surprise to no one.

If they would have been proactive and transparent, two things of which YT has never been accused, Spotify could have turned this whole fiasco into arguably a win for the platform, considering the attention people were paying.

Especially considering the frustration with YouTube's nebulous, AKA non-existent, "policies" and heavy handed censorship.

This comes off to me like Spotify does not fundamentally understand the American consumer.

The platform was teed up to explode with pent up right wing content, and last I checked their money spends the same. They blew a huge opportunity and will pay dearly for the privilege, like Bloomberg-dearly.

Good news is the opportunity is still there. I never had very high hopes that we'd get saved by Spotify anyway. Pretty obvious with the kind of money they were paying Joe he was going to agree to anything. Not even judging him, I'd probably do the same if you showed me a check with that much in my name. I am not so arrogant to think I am any better. It is still too bad, and won't give him what he thinks it will in the long run, IMO. I am serious when I say the last thing Joe needed was more money.

2
RustySpokes 2 points ago +2 / -0

Many good thoughts and points. I think it's possible that they realized what a force for change Rogan has been and they bought him off to censor him. Joe did say that he still had full creative control, assuming that's true I think this could be considered a breach of contract. I like Joe as a person, I really hope he doesn't let his fans down.

I tried to listen to his podcast once. It was him interviewing Steven Crowder. Joe Rogan cried like a little bitch the whole episode about weed even after Crowder had already moved on to other subjects.

Most annoying podcast ever and I dont get the cult following at all.

I need to watch that episode again. I watched it before I made the decision that marijuana was a detriment to my mental health and quit entirely. I've seen it help people with legitimate nerve disorders and stuff like that. Overall I think it caused me more problems than what I perceived it was helping.

Elon Musk interview was interesting

1
bobobob 1 point ago +1 / -0

His shows are very hit and miss. The best ones are when he gets an interesting guest on (like Elon Musk, Bret/Eric Weinstein, Mike Baker, etc) and gets them to do most of the talking. The worst ones are when he tries to have a retarded debate with his guest or keeps interrupting the conversation.

3
Zenweaponry 3 points ago +3 / -0

And here I was hoping that the move was so that he could have more freedom to choose guests of all kinds and have conversations outside of what Youtube allowed. Instead, as always, it was about the money.

3

Frosty 10 points ago +17 / -7

That's not an actual connection. Correlation is not causation. Censorship was announced by who exactly? People noticed it days ago. Markets don't give a shit about censorship, see: Amazon, Twitter, NYT, Google, Facebook, etc.

12
secretbern 12 points ago +13 / -1

This. Tech stocks got slaughtered yesterday. I’m angry about the censorship, but it’s not going to affect Spotify financially at all.

3
Thiswillbeintheexam 3 points ago +3 / -0

Tech stocks are getting shaky because they're getting into all sorts of drama leading into November for the US, but also because a lot of the stimulus payments internationally are starting to run out as the covid lockdowns drag on.

There's a great big wave of global financial pain coming and everyone watching the market can feel it.

2
Master_Wyatt_Gurp 2 points ago +2 / -0

I dont see it like that. Its just that the NASDAQ is at record highs. Have to have profit taking days sometimes.

1
Thiswillbeintheexam 1 point ago +1 / -0

I wouldn't be looking into the NASDAQ too much. Lots of people here are dubious about Covid, but the fact of the matter is that a lot of business have been sent to the wall because of it.

  1. In Feb, lots of money was pulled from investment portfolios due to fear of an impending crash.
  2. Covid response has sent a lot of businesses to the wall. So the real-world economy is in bits. Unemployment numbers globally are extraordinary.
  3. Government stimulus packages kicked in and deferred the economic impact.
  4. People got tired of holding their breath and reinvested - and they went back into medical and technology - two fields likely to do well in a working-from-home extended medical lockdown scenario.
  5. Metals demand is also very high, especially gold and silver. That's another sure indicator of investors seeking safe havens.
  6. Stimulus packages are running out - government debt levels are becoming unsustainable globally.
  7. The MSM would love to tank the NASDAQ and they will over-report any tremor.

The whole thing screams instability. Enter at your own risk.
