It doesn't make too much sense either considering planes are literally able to fly themselves nowadays with autopilots being more and more "dynamic". The entire airline industry is shrinking not because less people are using planes, but because more and more things are becoming automated requiring less "manpower" to run it.

Bad news, the people who write the contracts are the ones who push for this bullshit. The company I work for is less than 50% white, we have a based Korean-American owner and a lot of Korean/Filipino/Hispanic people employed. However, not enough black people. So at this point if you are black and you are even remotely possibly qualified you are getting head of the line for interviews.

Story time folks. I moved Washington state about 25 years ago. One of my first friends turned out to be a Boeing engineer who was getting ready to retire. He seemed kind of young to retire, mid 40’s, so I kind of assumed there was more to it. Anyways at one point during his party he told me that if I was smart I wouldn’t step foot on any plane built within the next 20 years. I kind of took it as him being a little bitter about being forced out. Well wouldn’t you know it 20 or so years later and Boeing planes are literally falling out of the skies. Wish I could remember the name of the engineer just so I could remind him of our conversation we had so many years ago.

Twenty year corporate drone here. This story doesn't really matter.

Companies' HR departments sell this nonsense as "We all learn more with diversity", which is partially true. I've worked with six diversity hires and I learned a shit ton from the experience, mostly about how to do their job and my job at the same time, in the same time frame. In short, they're morons. And while you don't know how they got to this place, and you have to spend way more time than necessary just getting simple things (like showing up on time) to stick, the real frustrating thing is that once they're there they are almost impossible to get rid of. Regardless of how defiantly incompetent they are.

And understand, I've worked with plenty of blacks, women, Indians, Russians, actual Africans, Hispanics, virtually every color and creed under the spectrum. Any of whom just came in and did their job, just like I did. And I liked working with them, had no reason not to. Except the Russian guy that constantly burned popcorn in the microwave. It was just like, dude, it has a button that says "Popcorn" on it.

I'm talking about "diversity" hires. You know them when you see them, that smartass indifferent attitude stands out like a shithouse in the fog,

None of these Boeing hires will be doing anything except showing up late to meetings and repeating stuff someone else said five minutes ago while talking in circles long after anyone stopped listening. They're not engineers, they're not important, they will most likely be leading obnoxious diversity initiatives that the essential employees either ignore, or joke about after having to go to them.

Corporate. It's own animal, and every one of them does this.

Most of this "diversity" business is just a scam. I came from a very leftist area. School district had huge diversity initiatives. Turns out they were basically hiring tokens and taking huge grants from the feds and state. Boeing probably is doing the same thing.
