Closing schools and opening the prisons. Lawsuits and impeachment at a minimum.

It the only way they can justify not having physical ballot locations. "Why it was so bad we had to shut down schools and early release inmates"

The whole thing is so artificial its pathetic. Almost every other nation is over corona and nearing stage 4 conditions and we're flailing around like an infomercial buffoon who can't wipe their ass.

It is being as a political weapon against Trump. They are creating this environment so that they can make people blame Trump for it.

46
Mrsattorney 46 points ago +46 / -0

The tests seem incredibly unreliable too. Two of my husband's doctors said they are not routinely testing patients for Covid-19 because the tests are so unreliable. Juan Soto, arguably the best batter for the Washington Nationals, just sat out the first 5 games of the season due to a false positive test. He tested negative on 2 subsequent tests given 24 hrs apart. Were these tests made in Chyna?

35
570dbp 35 points ago +35 / -0

What is the point of testing if one feels well? My fear of testing is that your information will be entered into a government database. Who knows what they will use this information for? They could force people into isolation wards where people for sure will die.

7
Mrsattorney 7 points ago +8 / -1

It would be useful to know if you have the antibodies (you could help others with plasma therapy and you know you wouldn't be contagious or susceptible after the appropriate amount of time so you could return to work unmasked). Also, we would eventually reach herd immunity if enough people tested positive, but that would require the tests to be accurate, lol. Btw, my husband didn't ask to be tested...he inquired about it to see if they were testing him as part of a routine blood screening.

29
KILLARY4PRISON 29 points ago +29 / -0 (edited)

A friend's coworker of mine was given a take-home test swab. He didn't even want to risk getting a positive result so he dipped the swab in a glass of water. The result fucking came back positive I shit you not. They absolutely are not reliable.

13
Mrsattorney 13 points ago +13 / -0

There's some definite fuckery with the tests, as well as with reporting deaths.

4
HockeyMom4Trump 4 points ago +4 / -0

My brother was just talking about this!

7
zerofoo 7 points ago +7 / -0

PCR testing doesn't tell you if you have an infection. A positive PCR test means there are detectable DNA or RNA fragments present - it doesn't test for whole virus.

Many of the "positive" tests are people who beat the virus without any issues.

9
DobyCrotchtangle 9 points ago +9 / -0

CDC also requires up to 40 (!) cycles to see if any virus is present. After so many cycles, no wonder papayas were testing positive.

4
Mrsattorney 4 points ago +4 / -0

Or people who had common colds.

5
sagebrushfire 5 points ago +5 / -0

The only dr that matters is Fauci. Your husband’s doctors haven’t thrown out first pitches. Their opinion means shit.

6
Mrsattorney 6 points ago +6 / -0

You're absolutely right...I don't think my husband's doctors have posed for the cover of In-Style Magazine either, so that really reduces their credibility, as well.

4
HockeyMom4Trump 4 points ago +4 / -0

Wow. That’s a great way to cheat in sports. Have tests come back positive and star players have to sit out.

Facts and numbers don’t matter because it’s all about politics. We cannot argue using statistics.

6
Based_Trumpster 6 points ago +6 / -0

I think that's the point he was making. The numbers are fabricated to achieve a political agenda.

4
ADAM_SCHITT 4 points ago +4 / -0

Because NJ and NY already had it bad and probably reached herd immunity by now. Once like 20% of the population gets it, it dies out on its own.

2
lank23 2 points ago +2 / -0

In my NY Westchester school district less than 100 people got the Chyna Wuhan flu at the peak. Now with no one in the district sick for over a month they are still going to do some mixed in-person online school...My kids have been telling me for weeks they want to go back to school because they miss it.....go figure kids missing school....it is a very important part of life!

3
CannonballJunior 3 points ago +3 / -0

Great potential for it to backfire on them though. Shit is becoming so increasingly obvious that even a lot of the dumb folks will be able to figure it out.

3
Linespaced 3 points ago +3 / -0

We’ve gone way past that.. even my libshit friends see it’s the Governors doing this.

4
570dbp 4 points ago +4 / -0

I hope so. I always tell people that it’s the governor that makes the decree. So the blame should be placed squarely on those dem governors who use the virus excuse as a political weapon.

2
Chiliad5 2 points ago +2 / -0

The governor closes the beaches, closes the schools, closes businesses, orders everyone to wear a mask, etc. How can any California voter think, "Yup, this is on Trump, not Newsom."

16
Chick-fill-eh 16 points ago +16 / -0

Other countries have smartly learned to ignore it. That's all.

14
canadianhere 14 points ago +14 / -0

Canadian here. I fucking wish. Stuff is opening but masks are law. As someone who can't wear a mask, everything might as well be still closed.

6
Chick-fill-eh 6 points ago +7 / -1

The masks are irrelevant. Use now you can hide from facial recognition systems without being suspicious. Cover eyes and nose.

Try a paintball mask... Full coverage, easy breathing.

11
dickwagger 11 points ago +11 / -0

Personally, I just walk around in my hazmat suit just so I'm safe from everything.

(My brother is a leftist-leaning doctor and he has changed about as much as Lord Fauci has on mask-shitology. Finally, after repeated text messages to all of us of the importance of mask I wrote back that why don't we just wear hazmat suits? For fuck sakes we need to be exposed to as much shit as possible so we can build up our immune systems.)

6
canadianhere 6 points ago +6 / -0

The breathing isn't the problem. I have a skin disorder.

1
Pede3 1 point ago +1 / -0

Face shields seem to be accepted as a mask substitute in PA. I just saw a chalkboard ad outside of a store for products to treat mask related acne. I minimally wear the mask just to get in stores, and my skin is worse. I'll be glad when this is over...

2
canadianhere 2 points ago +2 / -0

Our bylaw was written so that face shields are unacceptable. My father wore a face shield and a store made him put on a mask instead.

1

The public school system is in my top 5 of the worst systems we ever enacted in this country.

We learned to rely on it and then it was pulled out from under us like a rug and now both parents and children are left confused and disoriented and without option.

39
Amaroq64 39 points ago +39 / -0

Yeah but parents and children were left confused and disoriented when it was open too.

23
DragonsAndDiamonds 23 points ago +23 / -0

Yup, which is why it is in my top 5 disastrous ideas we implemented in this country. My top three are the Fed, IRS and income taxes. We are not free people.

15
Amaroq64 15 points ago +15 / -0

I would put education and academia as the top two, because people would at least see a problem with the other disastrous ideas if they knew how to think.

8
DragonsAndDiamonds 8 points ago +8 / -0

You have a good point.

7

There is also the whole absolutely reprehensible and preposterous issue of people now demanding their money back for services not performed... /s

Personally I have been trying. Biggest challenge hasn't been math or science, but finding a decent "just the facts, ma'am" history textbook for children. (I want to handle religion myself, but don't want any social justice crap either.)

1
LadyOfLorien 1 point ago +1 / -0

How old are your kids?

2
HiddenDekuScrub 2 points ago +2 / -0

My kid is nine. He's also a textbook case for one of Thomas Sowell's books. So yeah, teaching him math is easy, but his language is behind. This is why I want to find a "textbook" of sorts, with a lesson plan, preferably with workbooks and whatnot, because he seems to be picking things up at greater speed now.

1
LadyOfLorien 1 point ago +1 / -0

You might have luck if you go a combination military history/original texts. Osprey Publishing has really fantastic military history books - some that are in depth examinations of different battles or units, some that are broad walkthroughs of a whole war. You could pair that with some selected readings that you go over together. So, if you were to do the American Revolution, you would focus on the military history side of things; battles, troop movements, logistics, that sort of thing (which also gives a great opportunity for hands-on learners to build rough models and terrain maps), and vary things with books like Johnny Tremaine, biographies of figures like Benjamin Franklin and George Washington, and period texts like George Washington's letter from Valley Forge or the Declaration of Independence.

I've never used them myself, but I've also heard really good things about the Rush Revere series, and my family is switching to a Charlotte Mason curriculum from A Gentle Feast. I haven't gotten an in-depth look at it yet (new curriculum, yay) but I'm happy with what I've seen so far. If you're interested in a less costly alternative, Simply Charlotte Mason has a history series that pairs History, Geography, and Bible study together in one book, so their early modern history book, for example, pairs together American history, world history, and the biblical epistles, and you just work on them different days.

24
unicornpoop 24 points ago +24 / -0

And there we have it. Teachers and administrators still raking in the same cash without having to educate the students. Here's a "free" ipad that you already have, parent. Have fun figuring out how to teach a kindergartner how to read and write while still holding down a job!

19
NeverDemAgain 19 points ago +19 / -0

I did it. my kid is going into kinder and reads DRA lvl 8-10 (early to mid first grade).

only took about 20 minutes of work with her per day. cant believe the amount of time kids spend in schools for such meager results. now when schools open she will spend days learning about the letter 'a'. hooray

6
Notablitheringidiot 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yep, school should be about 3 hours long, at least until late high school.

5
Tryhardneckbeard 5 points ago +5 / -0

Not your fault but I'd like to warn that your child is walking into the inescapable pitfall of losing interest in learning plus ego issues because of their "advanced" learning and the slow progress that the schools will crawl at. With that said good on you and good luck keeping them engaged :)

4
NeverDemAgain 4 points ago +4 / -0

honestly. whats the point? i feel bad for my kid. i just hope her boredom doesnt turn into acting out.

if anything good comes out of this. maybe the entire system of public education will be re-imagined. its akin to cattle farming in its present state.

1
zuccherina 1 point ago +1 / -0

Look into your state's requirements. In my state kindergarten isn't required so technically we could wait to put our kid in at the first grade level.

Also not all public schools are created equal. We live in a very conservative area where the parents call it the cheapest Christian school around. My son is blossoming as a reader and he just turned 6 this summer.

3
AsahiNoHikari 3 points ago +3 / -0

Paying them to not educate the students might be a net benefit.

31

They should demand Vouchers so they can choose the school, rather than be the subject and hostage of the teachers Union.

10
Leonrhodes1993 10 points ago +10 / -0

This idea is amazing it would really make schools actually compete in healthy way that would benefit the kids massively

10
Tryhardneckbeard 10 points ago +10 / -0

We've been advocating this for decades and they've tossed the kitchen sink at shooting this down because then they'd be forced to produce the evil RESULTS that are being demanded.

Yeah, I live in MoCo. The government here has their heads so far up each other's asses they know what everyone had for dinner. It was hard for me to read the last couple paragraphs where Christine Ruiz was talking about the impacts on her special needs kids. I wondered about her so a quick search pulled up another article that happened to be about her. She is a real person doing amazing things - and looks to be a real hispanic - I had wondered if she may have married a hispanic person. Anyway this seems very interesting and I hope they win as otherwise governors hold unusual power to screw up people's lives under the guise of "public health".

I'm in Orange County and literally EVERY parent I associate with here is pissed off, including my wife and I. I've talked to a couple of parents who are drinking the scared kool aid and honestly, they are pretty leftwardly so they're just following marching orders. They're just as scared now as people were in February and every last one of them is out of work and on Trump bucks. Literally, every one of the people i know who are for continued lock down are out of work and on EDD + $600/week Trump money. Orange County Board of Supervisors voted to allow individual school districts to open for fall, they even created an optional online virtual academy with full curriculum for parents to have a choice for their kids. Literally the next day Newsom forced the entire state to close for fall. People are LIVID. This is the enough to flip any state, including CA red. However, there are just way toooooooooo many retards in CA. None of my independent coworkers or friends are voting blue anymore, people are fired the fuck up here due to covid, Newsom, political correctness, cancel culture and the response to protesting/rioting. Just too many people on the government tit here and indoctrinated to flip red. People have to be willing to look at themselves in the mirror and ask, "Are we the baddies?". Independents do it easily, but lifer democrats aren't that easy. I would imagine older democrats sure, they remember when being a moderate was normal. Younger millennial democrats are simply indoctrinated at this point.

4
Captain-D 4 points ago +4 / -0

This is exactly what happened in Oregon last week. My district had hybrid plans In place with the optional fully online academy and then Kate Brown shut it all down.

Give the parents back their tax money. Public school is a disgrace anyway. Call it what it is: babysitting. Government-funded daycare. Let the parents keep the money and teach the kids on their own.

8
Hillandbill 8 points ago +8 / -0

It's amazing when they don't listen to science, but their own leftist science. The only solution is school choice, give the money to the parents, let them choose the school, whether it be online or local. Then you'll see these militant left wing teachers and administrators change their tune.

8
KorbenDallas 8 points ago +8 / -0

Alternative take: kids are safer now as they're not in Marxist indoc camps.

Sorry CA parents, but you need to figure out other avenues of education.

7

7
Mad_Hattie 7 points ago +7 / -0

3
Captain-D 3 points ago +3 / -0

So they can give iPads and free lunches to the underserved every day and continue to pay teachers their full salaries for 2 hours of online work a day.

7
GrimmJack 7 points ago +7 / -0

If Gavin allows us to pack into Super Wal-mart and line up nose to tail to the back of the store because only two cashiers are open he can let Schools open up. I think he is scared of the State Unions and violent Anti-USA people living in the State. The Anti-USA are pet parents and hate children.

schools should never be opened again if they continue to promote hatred of white people. And I believe it is fair to say they promote hatred of white people when it's right in their curriculum for teachers to stand up in front of the class and tell all the kids that the white ones are cheaters (privileged) and that they are secretly evil (racist)

Good. My daughter was supposed to start first grade on Wednesday but this shit is keeping her from it. She switched schools in February and in March they shut down in person classes for the semester so she didn’t have a chance to make new friends at the new school. The school district was going to do two days in school and three learning st home...until Gov. Gruesome decided he should power trip and put ridiculous restrictions in when schools may reopen.

My daughter is six and has been crying about wanting to die because she’s so lonely. I have sent her to camp over the summer but there’s nothing I can send her to now. We can’t go to church because he shut them down too. I tried to enrol her in a religious school because they were going to do five full days but they are extremely waitlisted (100+ parents ahead of me) and they’re not allowed to have in person classes anymore either.

Her birthday is in October and she’s upset because she didn’t think she’ll have anyone to invite since she can’t do anything. I mean every fucking day she’s begging to go to school and make friends. This is horrible as a parent to be powerless in the face of tyranny like this.

Dude, I was homeschooled for the last 3 years. Both my parents worked, so I did school myself, but I was in homeschool groups. Kids that were hs their whole lives could barely read. None went to college. One went into the military and did something with that. I currently have family members that home school for religious reasons. The older ones could not make it into college. The younger ones can barely read and are socially retarded.

  1. Kids need a group outside of their own home to put peer pressure on them to do the work. 2. Most adults do not have the disposition to be teachers. I found this to be true when school shut down in march and I tried to hs my kids for the last few months. It's really hard to make older ones do the work - they just aren't motivated. Have you been up at 1am checking quiz scores just to see that your kid lazed through it and now has to redo the day? Probably not. 3. Kids can't sit home all day and develop socially. They will not emotionally or psychologically develop properly. We are pack animals, we are made to go out from the cave and "hunt" things. Learn things, discover things. Then come home and share what we've learned.

Finally, public school can be a fantastic option for a child that had been conditioned to learn from a young age and then put through high performing programs and sent to specific high performing schools. Put them in preschool at 3. They can read by kindergarten, and immediately enter the "gifted" programs in the public school system. I moved to a specific school district so my kids could start at a top ranked elementary in the county. After that first year they test into the honors program, you can get a transfer to any other honors schools in the county without moving. Then you just work like hell to make sure they can test the 80-90 percentile required for the top middle and high schools. The honors class public school education at top schools, at least in my area, is substantially better than even the most expensive private school since you literally have every student in the class at a minimum of 85 percentile in math and reading. Public school does NOT suck if parents plan accordingly and take the initiative.

2
RegularAmerican 2 points ago +2 / -0

This will end badly for democrats.

I've been hearing forever that education is the most important thing when it comes to raising successful children, and the teachers unions couldn't care less when there's a tiny but manageable risk to teacher health. Meanwhile nurses, cops, firefighters, and all the other essential workers are getting shit down and not complaining. It's disgusting.
