I just want to reiterate the point I made earlier.

Zuckerfuck said they banned the Frontline Doctors video because it makes claims about HCQ that are unproven and it could influence people to take the drug. He then said that the drug MAY have adverse side effects.

So he literally admitted that they took down the Frontline Doctors video because they made unproven claims, and his reasons for taking it down are UNPROVEN.

He doesn't want to be the arbiter of truth, except when he does.

What difference is it when pharmaceutical companies are able to hawk thousands of drugs every year at the public on TV and a physician giving their professional opinion on a potential therapeutic during a worldwide pandemic??? Hopefully Jordan creams him on this....

13
MalbecPicard 13 points ago +13 / -0

Chemotherapy has adverse affects for most people. Why is that allowed on facebook?

8
The_Bloofy_Bullshark 8 points ago +8 / -0

Hell, why are people allowed to sell their scam MLM health garbage on Facebook? That stuff is either unproven or proven to not work at all.

12

great catch i was distracted by all the in and outs and weird skipping

11
BubbaTrumpShrimp 11 points ago +11 / -0

Unproven to whom? Sooo I guess the docs that treat the patients every day, have massive success rates using HCQ doesn't count as "proven"

8
reddeadpill 8 points ago +8 / -0

Which is dumb as hell because it’s not like you can buy it over the counter. A doctor would have to prescribe it to you.

You know, a doctor, a healthcare professional; something zuck clearly is not.

3
sumgen7 3 points ago +3 / -0

In quite a few countries HCQ is available over the counter - but strangley (or not!) not much in the West.

92
McFatty7 92 points ago +92 / -0

Let me guess, Big Tech and the Democrats are coordinating what questions they'll be asked.

Something tells me the Democrats will behave much nicer to their donors, than to AG Barr yesterday.

Lincoln project aren't progressives.

They're a group of butthurt globalist RINOs. Rick Wilson and Mittens and everyone else Trump either threw out of or never let in the administration. I'm sure John Bolton has an open invitation.

If anyone gave a shit what Bill Kristol had to say anymore the Weekly Standard would still be a thing.

There is no better example anywhere on the planet of the term "butthurt" than Bill Kristol and Rick Wilson. I would add Mittens except that he's never been conservative and has always been a liberal shithead.

But Kristol and Wilson got pissed off when Trump wouldn't have anything to do with them and basically told them to fuck off and abandoned every principle they ever claimed to hold. Trump is actually following through with all the things they claimed to want for decades, but because it's Trump doing it they now oppose it.

I love it, honestly. It just shows their true colors for all to see.

I worked for one of the big tech companies as a contractor. My entire building was almost solid Indian H1B's, the Americans were a very small minority. In the meantime, a lot of my tech friends had applied and didn't even get an interview.

There is a place for H1B. However, it should be very carefully vetted, not used as a way to bring in cheap foreign techs. Give jobs to Americans first!

34
2SmoothGQ 34 points ago +34 / -0

I would agree there is normally a place. Right now we need to throw this shit in full reverse though and get Americans hired. Once we know how much extra workforce (if any) that we need then we can look back into H1B. Basically I agree I’m just a little more harsh with how I feel about it.

MidwestNorsk 23 points ago +23 / -0 (edited)

Modern day bricklayers. But the bricks they lay last for what...one or two years? They can't design shit and they can't think their way out of a paper bag if they're a graduate of one of their stem schools that they cheated their ass through and bribed their way to get the diploma.

18
fear_mongrels 18 points ago +18 / -0

Agree h1b should be to bring in Einsteins and Werner von Brauns.

Obviously the Indian h1b doesn't meet that standard.

8
ADAM_SCHITT 8 points ago +8 / -0

13
fear_mongrels 13 points ago +13 / -0

MidwestNorsk 3 points ago +3 / -0

Vee know nutting! Vee see nutting!!!!

1
GlockGoldman 1 point ago +1 / -0

Neither of those guys came over on H1Bs or anything equivalent to that. Einstein was legit recognized as a refugee of Nazi persecution (who could contribute immensely to American scientific advancement). Von Braun was recognized as a legit Nazi (who could contribute to American space knowledge) but we didn’t want the USSR to kill or capture him.

1
almond_activator 1 point ago +1 / -0

It was not claimed that either of them were admitted under the H1B visa program, (which didn't exist in the 1930s and 1940s).

They were held up as a standard: people sufficiently useful that there is a net benefit to permitting them entry.

12
HuggableBear 12 points ago +12 / -0

I can fix the entire H1-B program with one sentence.:

Any company that sponsors an H1-B visa must pay a fee to the government of $100,000 annually per visa

Voila. Problem solved.

H1-B's should only be allowed for exceptional positions and it should require a fuck-ton of documentation to prove it.

The original idea was to poach the absolute best from around the world.

"Hey, Dr. India-man who is one of the top 5 nuclear scientists in the entire world, how about you come to America and do your work here? We'll fast track your citizenship application and give you some nice benefits if you do."

That's a great idea. Everyone wants to come here, but there are lots of people who are comfortable where they are and would need incentive to leave. If we can incentivize the absolute best people in the world to come be Americans, that's great.

Instead it turned into "Get a shitty IT certificate from the university of Kerplekistan and we'll pay you 50k to do what an American would demand 100k for."

But if every H1-B actually costs a company money instead of saving them money, you would end up only getting the people that are truly needed rather than have it be a source of cheap labor.

4
Dictator_Bob 4 points ago +4 / -0

This is how it used to work. We would poach Soviet-bloc talent by offering a better lifestyle. Now it is the reverse as China is buying our board rooms.

It is time to clean house.

1
almond_activator 1 point ago +1 / -0

Nah. Just require each H1B visa to require an individual act of Congress.

9
Cantshadowbanthemall 9 points ago +9 / -0

make the price for an H1B $60k and then see what happens. That said, I am not against importing PhDs from other countries, especially when US universities have turned their backs on actually preparing people for the workforce.

-5
KAG_Master -5 points ago +2 / -7

Why cant we just let H1Bs become citizens? Is it because then they will demand a fair wage as US citizens? I want a bunch of smart people having smart babies doing smart things. Is that too much to ask?

7
MidwestNorsk 7 points ago +7 / -0

They aren't smart.

8
The_Bloofy_Bullshark 8 points ago +8 / -0

smart

Hahahahahahahahaha oh wait you’re serious...

H1B are generally functional retards. They can do enough to get by but they can’t solve their way out of a paper bag. Their coding sucks, they break things left and right, most of their credentials are falsified or purchased, plus they all generally come from the same area. It’s exploitive as hell. Also, when you develop a tool for Linux use only, mark it as such, put it in the documentation and then get a ton of support tickets to fix said tool since your brilliant H1B workers can’t figure out why it won’t work in a Windows environment - you generally lose patience with them very quickly. I’ve seen teams miss deadlines that should have been easy to hit because their H1B workers were absolute idiots who couldn’t do their jobs. Said tasks are then pushed onto another dev who has to work outside their scope of work to make sure that the project doesn’t get axed.

Also, all of the H1B in my neighborhood get pissed off if you dare to walk your dog on the same side of the street they are walking on. They also can’t drive and fly through the parking lots in their new Tesla or BMW with Please Be Patient - Student Driver magnets slapped on the backs.

Im out. Fucking complete waste of time. Congress is powerless against big tech. Its like listening to Lindsey Graham on Hannity. A bunch of what about this and that and no action. These guys (Cook, Zuckerberg, Puji, and Bezos) are to smart for the committee. They will have to admit that they are working with China and purposely censoring conservative voices, just come right out and say it. They are way to smart for that. It won't happen. Collusion with China and conservative censoring will only be resolved in the courts. 100 days before the election is to late. There isn't enough time to fix it with the slow movement of the congressional body. Its way to late, they should have does this years ago. These tech execs know this. They can politely stall and stall then return to business as usual. We will just have to learn to deal with this.

13
UndercoverSpez 13 points ago +13 / -0

Really. Show up to the hearing, dont give any sound bite that will be played more than a week from now, go back to life as usual.

12
HuggableBear 12 points ago +12 / -0

That's why Trump is doing this via executive action. FCC just got the go ahead from the Commerce Department as of today to review section 230.

These guys are fucked.

12
Fizbin7 12 points ago +12 / -0

The top 4 techs employ 450 full time lobbyists who together contribute $60 million per year to the politicians supposedly "regulating" them.

Expecting anything to result from such brazen systematic corruption but utter tyranny is idiotic.

All these people belong in prison. On both sides of the table.

4
knightofday 4 points ago +4 / -0

Extremely accurate. I seriously laugh at any of us expecting the corrupt people who make MILLIONS off the company they’re supposed to regulate take any adverse action towards them.

We the people are going to have to take our country back, more likely than not by force. Wish it wasn’t so but everyone can see the quickened march towards tyranny and enslavement if we don’t...

18

Exactly. It's dumb. Someone needs to tell the story of Ignaz Semmelweis, the "elite doctors" of the time laughed at him and put him in a crazy ward because he proved hand washing saved people's lifes but the elite doctor's pride got in the way, just like the left's pride/hate is in the way for Trump being president and he promoted it.

1
FragrantDude 1 point ago +1 / -0

seems pretty hateful

And as such you've identified the entire problem with hate speech laws. The closest you can get to surety about someone's speech is what it looks or seems like. No one can read someone else's mind, so no one knows if something was said with hate or not. I'm sick and tired of the left believing they can read people minds - they're trying to use their brains to think my thoughts but they're so much more hateful than I am that they constantly get it wrong.

2
HuggableBear 2 points ago +2 / -0

H1Bs are not slave labor. We are paying these foreign clowns 20x what they'd make in their home countries just to rob our own people of 20% of their pay.

11
NaCl_Miner 11 points ago +11 / -0

OK, Maybe not slave labor but they are indentured servants. They can keep wages down by making it difficult to jump to other employers. But I agree it's bs. I've seen many have train their replacements. Like immigration, this should only be allowed after specific unemployment numbers are reached.

All immigration needs to be balanced with current labor participation rate and unemployment. Why would people want to serve in the military only to come home and find you've been replaced by an indentured servant? Why bother fighting to protect the elites incredibly safe existence for them and their family only to be shit on by immigrant labor when you try to live the dream? They are destroying our sovereignty and making citizens wards of the state with these practices.

-1
spezisacuckold -1 points ago +2 / -3

How are they “indentured servants”?

2
NaCl_Miner 2 points ago +2 / -0

They have to have an employer as sponsor so it is hard for them to change jobs. As seen below, although possible to move to another employer, it is not frictionless and requires the new employer to petition for H1B. . Unless you are shit-hot at what you do, this locks you in to a specific employer and thus the "indentured" description.

This is from a pro h1b site. I'm not going to put the link because I don't want to give clicks.

"An H1B visa is a temporary, non-immigrant visa that allows the visa holder to work for a specific company within the United States. Because it is the employer who petitions for the visa and the visa is granted in connection with a particular job, many people are unaware that the visa holder may change jobs after being granted an H1B visa. In fact, there is no limit on the number of job changes an H1B visa holder can make, though the worker may hold only one job at a time.

The new employer will have to petition, just as the original employer did. However, when the process is handled properly, the H1B visa holder already working in the United States has several advantages compared with an applicant just beginning the H1B process. An experienced immigration attorney can explain the steps an employer and current H1B visa holder must follow in order for the employee to legally change jobs."

Spez: Also, It's a 2 for 1 job killer, because H1B can easily get accompanying work permit for spouse.

-2
spezisacuckold -2 points ago +2 / -4

So it's not indentured servitude. It may be completely unfair in its current state, but it's not indentured servitude by definition. Words matter.

3
NaCl_Miner 3 points ago +3 / -0

Is it 1800s indentured servitude? No. But if you want to go full pedantic, fine. Who do you think it’s unfair to, them or US? I can’t tell.

You know what that got me? I got laid off and the guy who almost brought a multi-million dollar initiative to a complete halt still has his job

He probably still microwaves tilapia in the microwave at 10 AM

1
Cantshadowbanthemall 1 point ago +2 / -1

terms of the visa make it nearly impossible to work elsewhere and they make say 70k where a citizen makes 170k

-2
spezisacuckold -2 points ago +1 / -3

...

So it's not indentured servitude.

2
Cantshadowbanthemall 2 points ago +2 / -0

come to a foreign country with an advanced degree (which needs paying for) to work for a company who is toxic but unable to look for alternative employment because of the term of the visa and make less than half the "rate" for such work all the while having the visa held over your head as a threat (part of the toxic work environment) and being forced to leave your new home to not be able to come back for years.

Yes, indentured.

PatrioticMemeLord 6 points ago +6 / -0 (edited)

We're living in a Matriarchal society which is the irony of modern feminism. What they don't understand is this was done to us for a reason. This was done to weaken the West as a whole. I won't elaborate entirely, but we are currently at a point of Gynocentrism where the West likely will never be able to bounce back without something big happening. It started in 1848, and reached a tipping point 100 years later and we've been decaying ever since the 1960s.

https://kekpe.pe/i/5f21d29c45b0b.png

Things will get MUCH worse before they ever get any better unless Trump has a plan to fight against this asshattery.

The sick thing is that the vast majority of people don't even notice. Even in an online community like this one. The West is decaying at an ever increasing rate. Luckily East Europe and Russia is still based and anti-immigration(mostly) and they are classic patriarchal societies with traditional European values. The East may overtake the West after the West's flame burns out due to the damp tampon that is modern feminism and "civil rights" destroying white men and the nuclear family. Everything that made us strong is being torn away, and everything that makes us weak is being brought to the forefront.

Glad to hear it and I don't want anyone to think I have anything against Women. I'm just of the opinion they were happier the way things were before. There's a very good reason why most Women were against Women's suffrage for nearly a century and it took decades of brainwashing to convince them to push for something that wasn't actually in their best interests.

Corporations now get two workers for the price of one, as they pay men and women the same but the base salaries are lower as a household now has two workers instead of one. Women are now in the workforce en-mass and many are miserable on antidepressants while being spoon fed bullshit about why that is. They're being told to put off having children or to not have children at all. They've destroyed the West it's horrible what they've done, and I'm not talking about Women here.

https://media.consumeproduct.win/post/QbL4ijj8.jpeg

They didn't know any better just like modern Antifa & BLM activists.

The whole generation is womanized; the masculine tone is passing out of the world; it’s a feminine, a nervous, hysterical, chattering, canting age, an age of hollow phrases and false delicacy and exaggerated solicitude's and coddled sensibilities, which, if we don’t soon look out, will usher in the reign of mediocrity, of the feeblest and flattest and the most pretentious that has ever been.

-Henry James

3
HuggableBear 3 points ago +4 / -1

I adore women. They make everything in this world wonderful. They are the ones that keep our children from becoming cold-hearted, the ones who keep our homes from being utilitarian caves, and the ones that remind us to be compassionate.

And they should never, ever, ever, under any circumstances be handed the reins to political power, for the very reasons outlined above.

Leading a country requires logical, cold-hearted decision making. It requires making decisions based not on compassion but on outcomes. Women aren't programmed that way, except when they are sociopaths. And I don't want someone running a country that has to be a sociopath in order to do a good job.

Women are our support structure and safety net, without whom civilization itself would be impossible. But you don't let people who make decisions based on emotion lead a nation when those emotions can affect half a billion people or more.

With all the “reclaiming my time” the past 2 days.

Once reelected Trump should “reclaim my time” for the Dems wasting 4 years with fake Russia and farce impeachment and all the other wasteful time they caused him.

Just claim it back and say term now ends in 2028 based on time reclamation.

Would love for a Pub to ask Dems “can Trump reclaim his time you wasted”.

hshdhhd 8 points ago +8 / -0

wee told you that was coming. from from the beginning when Twitter and Facebook and social media started cracking down on people like Alex Jones Bill told you was going to escalate further. It was never going to be against conspiracy theories. It was going to be eventually used to silence real news stories that are harmful to the Democrat Party. And eventually even outlaw conservatives all together on social media. we told you that was happening. we warned you.

what Republicans and Republican voters are so in the pockets of corporations that they would never DREAM of placing a restriction on a corporation even when it's in the best interests of America

rotarians got their death grip on the Republican party and transformed it into the corporate party. No longer representing the interests of the average American and only representing the interests of rich people and corporationss

so of course when Facebook starts doing things even that harm their own supporters you won't see Republicans standing against it because Facebook is a corporation and Republicans are the party of corporations. their only interest is making Facebook happy not you..

we warned you what would happen. It wouldn't just be Alex Jones. It got to the point where they became the ministry of Truth. The name of the whistleblower wasn't even allowed to be mentioned. It wasn't illegal to talk about him. His name was public information and it was a very relevant new story. The old social media crackdown 2 sensor it..

it hurt the Democrat Party for that new story to get out and so they clamped down on it. YouTube cracking down on information about Obama's spying Scandal. Facebook literally been in groups that were trying to organize peaceful protests against the lockdowns. attempting to engage in their first amendment right to protest Facebook bans those groups but they allowed groups that were organizing riots for black lives matte

he warned you that would happen. we warned you they would eventually silence entire news stories that were damaging to the Democrats. but you didn't listen. You didn't want to listen. Because accepting that truth would accept be accepting that corporations are not deityss..

and it is actually wrong to worship them as kings..

accepting that truth would be accepting the fact that restrictions would need to be placed on these corporations in order to prevent them from doing such terrible things and silencing free speech and manipulating elections and harming America. And that's unacceptable. uu can't have that if you want to be a party solely dedicated to puttingg corporations before people

that's what Republicans are. put in corporations before people. corporations are people in people are second-class citizenss according to the Republican Party. unless you have money then you're a kingg

and so they didn't want to listen. They didn't want to place restrictions on Facebook and force them to allow free speech because that would violate their number one philosophy thatt corporations are King..

they fight for corporate interest instead of citizen interestss

the Republican Party had a long ag abandoned the American people in favor of big money donorss

and so they ignored the warnings. They still ignore the warnings. They want to do anyting. Twitter has money. Facebook is a corporation. corporations r the Republican constituents. not youu

it's still not too late. They can turn around. placing restrictions on Facebook and other social media. passing laws and regulations that social media networks with more than 20 million monthly users have to allow all free speech as long as it's legal. he'll be very easy to pass. They wouldn't be much argument against it other than your usual corrupt arguments about how corporations are more important than peoplee

Facebook is the new USPS. it's the new postal service. The new telecoms. The new way that the majority of the world communicates with each other. As such it should not be allowed to restrict what people can say. It would be perfectly acceptable to pass laws that they can't restrict what people can say. That would be good. but you won't see a republican doing it..

they prefer to live in darkness. close their eyes cover their ears pretend it's not happening because they work for corporations and not youu

FYI: as a former Google employee, no doubt in my mind at all that if you showed up for work in a MAGA hat there, you'd be fired within half an hour. You'd also likely be physically assaulted by your coworkers. Likely the same with FB (a good friend of mine still works there). Moreover, if Albert Einstein showed up in a Trump shirt to their job interviews, he'd have no chance of passing it. Some of Google execs openly wept on stage during company meeting when Trump was elected and swore he will never be elected again. This is the official position of the company, and any deviation from this position will absolutely not be tolerated.

I hope this is like the H1B visa bullshit hearings about a decade ago when HP's CEO talked about the shortage of American tech workers the same week their company laid off several hundred American engineers. There is no STEM worker shortage. There is a cheap STEM worker shortage, in the eyes of the Silicon Valley robber barons.

Compliance as well. Foreign workers tend to be much more compliant with questionable requests.

Let me submit that the reason there isn’t the accountability we desire is because Congress is massively out of their league on this one. When you refer to the “net” or the “web” you pretty much guarantee you forward chain emails to your grandkids. There’s no possible way they can understand the nuance of e-commerce and big tech.

I agree with facebook but what social media platform does apple own that is engaged in censorship of political idealogies they disagree with?

I know twitter, facebook, and reddit are heavily censored in favor of liberal viewpoints, but I can't think off the top of my head what apple is in charge of social media wise.

Apple really only deals in computers/phones and their own app/media store. So long as they aren't blatantly engaging in anticompetitive shenanigans, they should be left alone.

I don't particularly like Apple. But I feel their sphere of influence is limited to being a supplier of snooty machines.

1
papaMAGA 1 point ago +2 / -1

Google yes. Amazon is less than 50% of the e-commerce market. They have significant competitors (ever heard of Walmart, Target, Ebay, Etsy, etc.?). Amazon has problems but I don't think lack of competition is that.

I think that's part of it, but I do believe exactly what our fellow pede is saying.

If they keep importing people who don't have American beliefs, then those people, coupled with the liberals already on staff, necessarily create policies that are not made with American ideals in mind.

In this way, it doesn't even have to be evil in the strictest sense of the term. You have a bunch of people who come from countries that don't have freedom of speech as we understand it, and don't understand why everyone can't just be polite (in the lefty sense).

That's the biggest danger of H1Bs, imo.

I worked in Silicon Valley — it’s about both.

You pay them shit AND they work 80 hours a week even though they’re non exempt and your company — and their agency’s — rules both say on paper they must be paid for all hours worked. One in particular was abused for on call support 24/7/365 for about 7 years. Fucked up thing was , as an employee , if I took such a call I could make a few hundred dollars ... but as a contractor he didn’t get shit if he took the call.

I’d say which company other than, I got that dude hired on full time on my way out and I don’t want to out myself for the following:

I tried to help some of our contractors (including him) on the DL by snitching and verifying their claims.. and all my former employer did was fire their agency and pick a new agency , telling the contractors if they still wanted jobs they had to switch agencies. New agency were the most corrupt, slimy, indifferent sacks of shit I’ve ever dealt with. Why? An Indian owned / run company will treat Indians even worse than Americans will. All but two or three of the guys quit within 2 years.

and yeah yeah yeah, no stereotypes please ... they were talented as fuck and worked their asses off all day every day.

1
FuckIndianH1-Bs 1 point ago +1 / -0

and yeah yeah yeah, no stereotypes please

It's a weak argument and you know it. Just because you worked with a couple ones with good work ethic does not mean fucking shit in the discourse of Americans VS H-1Bs. America First

Sounds like you benefited from the entire situation and you feel compelled to make a appeal to emotion about Indian H-1Bs. Must be nice being older with enough job security to put forth such a ludicrous conclusion.

Keep throwing younger Americans under the bus you tonedeaf moron.

  1. I’m 32 and currently unemployed, so you can straight up fucking curve me with your jealous anger about my “nice” “secure” “older” life you don’t know shit about me.

  2. I didn’t benefit from shit, I also worked 12-16 hours a day with 30 days between my days off because IT in general is a sweatshop industry. The only difference is I could get a couple hundred dollars for a shift differential on a weekend.

  3. I was a team leader with hiring authority who sat on the other side of the interview table and was implored to make shitty hiring decisions for the worst candidates because they had less experience or were on a visa and could be paid less. Many of the candidates were NIGHTMARES I spent half my day coddling or training for months on end just so they could list our fucking company name on their resume and get a better job 6 months later. One of the fuckers copied my resume word for word and claimed all of MY experience and accomplishments as her own, only to get a better paying job than me at eBay 90 days in. Obviously these people can just die in a fucking fire for all I care.

  4. As for technical talent, the ones I did go to bat for and attempt to get them paid for all their hours............... they’re smarter and better humans than you will ever be. God fucking forbid anyone be paid for the hours they work, I guess you don’t think they deserve that despite “labor laws” , because of their brown skin and Muh America First. Not only are you an idiot you are a racist fucking idiot. Your username is literally “fuckindianh1bs.”

  5. Maybe I’m a nice dude with empathy and a conscience. Maybe slavery and employer abuse angers me. Says a lot about you, that such a thing would never cross your mind and you go straight to this.

You........ are straight up trash, piss off

4
Tallsie 4 points ago +4 / -0

This works with my theory as well. If a person is afraid of being fired, telling them to create a system to monitor/ban/censor conservative viewpoints would be much easier. You naturally won’t have a whistleblower pop up, as everyone is just going to do exactly what they are told. These people also are not Americans and have no skin in the game when it comes to building systems at destroy our morals and values.

1

This whole hearing in a nutshell:

CEO's: "If you don't like what we're doing, create new laws to address it (but we know this congress is soo divisive, you'll never pass anything"

Democrat statements/questions: "We're blackmailing you with things like stealing content. If you don't shill for us and help us silence conservatives, we will go after you on this until you do what we want"

4
BlacksburgKAGA 4 points ago +4 / -0

See this is what I find interesting.

Isn’t that what they should do? Shouldn’t any company, while acting in accordance with law, further their agenda and increase their revenue? Isn’t that the point?

2
HeavyVetting 2 points ago +2 / -0

The question is whether they're following the law, and whether we need new laws to prevent the new legal but harmful stuff they've been doing.

2
BlacksburgKAGA 2 points ago +2 / -0

1000% agree — they’re finding loopholes in the law and I disagree with what they’re doing but until those are closed I can’t fault them.

I hate to be a pessimist, but I just don't see how this will make these private companies change anything. They'll "promise" to treat all content fairly but they'll continue suppressing conservative views. Just like they always have done.

And both sides are going to be gunning for talking points to get played in the media since this is an open hearing.

3
OconusLurex 3 points ago +3 / -0

The hearing isn't even really about censorship, despite what the headline here says; it's being held by the house judiciary's antitrust subcommittee, and is intended to question them about their dominance over the industry.

I'm sure the Republicans will bring up censorship, but that is not what this hearing is actually about.

2
CantStumpTheTrump 2 points ago +2 / -0

What's crazy to me is about this whole thing is the big tech companies are siding with the dems even though they've said all day they want to break them up. The repbulicans are just saying they don't want censorship. These companies would rather die than be fair to their users.

16

Anyone else hearing it sound like BOTH sides are going after these guys? Not a good sign for the big tech heads.

3
sickofaltspin 3 points ago +3 / -0

Controlled opposition

7
nomac 7 points ago +7 / -0

Both sides want power. Big tech threatens that power.

4
RocketSurgeon22 4 points ago +4 / -0

Big Tech is the shadow Government. It's a privatized NSA created by deep state to prevent threats like Trump and the MAGA movement. The problem is that China has now taken control.

6
IcculusBased9 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yep. The right hates censorship, the Left hates billionaires

None of these companies has engendered, or ever will engender, another company to grow to their level. Facebook eats competitors, Google stifles them via data manipulation, Amazon uses a multi-faceted approach through media, food supply and market share to dominate the spaces they operate in, and Apple uses slave labor to accumulate massive wealth. Pure and unadulterated capitalism, with American labor and ethics, however, would allow for competitors. Each needs to be dismantled to allow for capitalism to do its job.

6
Bax101 6 points ago +6 / -0

Well that is because China being Google, Amazon and Facebooks friends are going to obviously be corrupt as fuck. They're not going to obey their owns rules of conduct let alone any laws.

If it's that easy, I'm running for Congress to be in the next one of these and ask these companies about their anti-male bias myself.

16
get_that_bozo 16 points ago +16 / -0

All had pre-programmed responses. No direct answers. Just spin how good they think their companies are. They are ALL in the pockets of China! They have all gone political. They need to be "liable!" or de-platformed!!

2
Siteless_Vagrant 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hopefully that is what will come from this hearing, and it seems like it might, some criminal referrals, and most likely some legislation. Big Tech is about to experience the same shit rail, oil, and tele comms all had to face in our history.

The bright side is that The left has pushed so far left that they have abandoned the majority of their base. 2020 is the band-aid we had to rip off so we could start to swing back to something normal.

They are out there shooting themselves in the foot (sometimes literally it seems) and they look like a total freak show. It sucks to live through, but it's going to be what we need to make things better.

We just have to stay strong and get through.

You are not alone. You'll always find like-minded and supportive people here to chat with and shitpost with. And a lot of us are going through much the same as what you describe.

Can you get outside for just a little while? Take a walk through the neighborhood, in a park if there is one. Get a little exercise and some fresh air and sunlight. Thirty minutes of that can make a real difference when you get back inside and you'll feel better equipped to deal with it once again.

I don't even want Big Tech to stop censoring Conservatives. I just want them to admit they're doing it because they simply don't like us and that it goes against their narrative. That would be more of a victory that anything.

While I have your attention and we all have time to kill, here is what Google execs say to their employees when they think they have behind closed doors. Side note: how stupid are the hats Google makes new employees wear?

I think you are missing a point though. They need to stop censoring anybody given the legal protections they were allowed back in the 90's. Or they need to protections stripped away. That's the bottom line.
