Good. I think companies should have the right to require masks, but the government should not force anyone

136
Smubbs 136 points ago +187 / -51

I don't think companies should be able to require I wear something that has a detriment to my health.

Kekception 125 points ago +146 / -21

Meh I understand this but a business has the right to say no shirt no shoes no service. Forcing anything on anyone is bullshit I agree but I don’t have to shop at there business either

RedDuck 130 points ago +143 / -13

Yes every homeowner or business owner has the natural right to set the rules in their own property. I have no objection to them doing so even if I think it's silly.

Terstermernt 50 points ago +52 / -2

I think the problem arises when you can't go anywhere without having said personal freedom infringed upon like many area's of our country are dealing with right now. At what point do we draw the line on restricting how someone can conduct themselves in a way that has no effect on another pursuit of happiness?

(I hope my point comes across coherently. I'm having trouble articulating exactly what I'm trying to say.)

33
AK94 33 points ago +44 / -11

The point is, it's a free country. Free people. Free business. People should be able to do as they please. It's the government you want to keep out of the mix, because their business is ruling by force. Your argument plays straight into the "it infringes upon my rights if so and so won't bake me a gay cake".

That’d be a better thought if our mega corps didn’t essentially merge with the Democrats

7
OK_karen 7 points ago +7 / -0

Or if our society was intelligent enough to understand basic facts and statistics, or if nationwide propaganda wasn't allowed to take place. But yes these businesses are free to keep others from wearing masks and I will stand by that.

But if we're going to uphold constitutional laws we need to uphold and enforce ALL OF THEM.

10
R_e_d_d_a_w_n 10 points ago +10 / -0

No it's not. Businesses are not free in many states. They are under mask orders by executive decree.

Exactly how is that free?

9
chuckachookah 9 points ago +9 / -0

Exactly.

To me, an emergency order by a mayor, county commission, of a governor should not give them unlimited power over your life.

Emergency orders to close roads, bridges, etc for public safety are understandable, but forcing a business to require its patrons to place a device over their face or they and the business will be fined is absurd.

And you see this phrase being used everywhere “if, in fact, the science shows...” and then they fill in the blank with whatever their desire is.

They don’t have the facts. They have innuendo and supposition that is being driven by fear. The Facts we do have is that: people are not dying from this at an “alarming” rate.

And then you add the bullshit that is being played with the numbers, it’s clear that THEY HAVE NO FACTS to support their orders.

1
Terstermernt 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don't agree. The government or any other entity shouldn't be able to compel someone to serve a cake at a ceremony that goes against their will (in that case it was a religious belief) just like the government or any other entity shouldn't be able to compel anyone to wear a mask in public places.

Basically I'm saying you shouldn't be able to compel someone to do something that they don't want to do. I believe they have a name for it. I believe it's called oppression.

The whole premise of the masks is silly anyway. Apparently they are to be worn to protect everyone else from you. Which is ridiculous. It's not rational to assume everyone will protect you from them. You can't control the actions of others and would be nieve to think that you could. Even if fairy tales could come true and somehow everybody gave a damn about everybody else there are still mistakes being made everywhere that could get people sick even with masks on. You simply can't control that. It is however rational to take precautions to protect yourself from everyone else. Whether it be from a virus or a mugging it has always rested on the American people to take measures to protect themselves and the people and things that they care about. Those that leave their safety solely in the hands of other people will eventually find out the hard way that the vast majority of other people care less about your safety than you do.

Consider starting a company that is open to all sorts of people. Those who wear masks and those who don’t. You’ll have a larger customer base if you don’t discriminate.

That is dangerously ignorant. One cannot break the law just "because they're on their own property". (Think murder, or child rape.)

'Meh, my home or business .. my rules.'

It doesn't work that way.

This also goes for the supression or abrogation of Rights. And some of those very much are happiness and commerce.

To put it another way .. what is the qualitative difference between "requiring masks" and "requiring burkas"? -- 'their business, their rules'.

'But, the masks are for the public good.' -- Are they? Every expert not tied up with Soros and Gates Foundation $$$$money say they're medically preposterous, Worse than doing nothing.

Btw the mandatory quantum dot tracking vaccines they'll want, next, will Also be "for the public good'.

If it were simply, honestly, just 'some business or two', that wouldn't be a big deal in a free society, but it's not Organic. It's Marxist Fascism, cooperation between elements of the deep state, foreign enemies, ginormous corporations that have been tied into "Homeland Security" since Bush W.

It's a War, the stakes are Life on Planet Earth, and our side is saying "Cattle cars?, well .. it's their railroad".

Spez: Ugh, seriously?? 🤦‍♂️ I don't want this to get lost off-page, so let's see if I can abuse 'Fixed Typo' the way HocusLocus is abusing Facts and Logic ..

Unless Walmart (et alia) are using the compulsory wearing of medically useless masks as part of their efforts to "create art consistent with their religious convictions" there is nothing similar in the comparison to GayCake. Phillips prevailed because the exercise was one of creativeness, the plantiffs were trying to force him (via labor) to create art for them in a style opposing his convictions. Unless people wanting to shop at Walmart without a mask are somehow converting 'Walmart's labors' into a de facto slavery, or it's against Walmart's "religion" that people show their faces (which might be closer to the truth, peace be upon them), then the "GayCake" argument is so specious as to begger credulity that it was proffered by anyone outside of ShariaBlue. Or CAIR.

In fact, on the matter, ACLU lawyers, for the Gay Plantiffs, Lauded the Supreme Court decision in that it drew the narrowest possible line for unique elements of the case .. while specifically leaving larger discrimination rulings intact.

ACLU: "The court reversed the Masterpiece Cakeshop decision based on concerns unique to the case but reaffirmed its longstanding rule that states can prevent the harms of discrimination in the marketplace".

So .. not only is shopping barefaced not "making Walmart bake Gay Cakes" 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ , but the very case you reference was, across the breadth of the ruling, a reassertion that States can prevent discrimination on other grounds.

As it is the very Duty of proper governments to do .. (ie - protect the Rights of its citizenry.)

HocusLocus 19 points ago +28 / -9 (edited)

Ah, so you're saying the business owner should have have no right to refuse service to you because you're not wearing a mask. And they should be compelled to "bake a rainbow cake" if you ask for one too?

This is hilarious! The level of goofy-think one experiences in conservative forums sometimes matches anything you find out in Wokeworld.

I get your general point, that it's not healthy for society and should not be encouraged but you don't have to bring in (murder, child rape, vaccines) to make your point. You even seem to bring Nazi cattle cars into it, that's not healthy either, like you're whipped up into some "well how 'bout THIS??" foaming frenzy. Chill!

Kemp is saying, keep cops out of it by having no mask laws on the books. But if a business owner asks you to leave and you don't leave, that is trespassing and they can call the cops. That law will always be on the books so long as we're in America.

10
Walrus_Tooth 10 points ago +12 / -2

No, he saying the government shouldn’t be able to enforce its will via its partners in the private sector to undermine the constitution, which is where we are right now.

Combine with this with how Democrats have made their political will synonymous with BS ‘protected’ classes, and we have a one sided system where one side gets shit on in society, the other fucked, all at the protection and will of the government.

2
HocusLocus 2 points ago +9 / -7 (edited)

"via its partners in the private sector "

So what does that mean? It's just conspiracy talk, like you load a squirt gun with "partners in the private sector" juice and squirt it on business owners who post directives (such as no mask no service) from their own personal choice and right you do not agree with or like. Accuse them of colluding with a corrupt government, that'll get them quaking in their boots!

I see some good coming of this. Walmart for example has just drawn a line in the sand against 'barefaces' nationwide. Wake up America! The simple fact that this is a decision made in a little air-conditioned board room in Bentonville Arkansas -- should make people wonder if the seat of government is not D.C. but Bentonville!

Maybe people will finally get off their asses to support the smaller or more distant-from-them remnant of businesses that are hanging on by a thread. The reality is, you're driving around looking for a business that does not put out a no mask no service sign. Sucks, doesn't it? Yeah but everyone's a Constitutional Lawyer now! We're gonna try to fix this without leaving our basements by …. Wait for it, this is funny… getting the Government involved!

2
0xAA55 2 points ago +4 / -2

The private sector can't force anything.

Only the government reserves the right to murder you if you violate their arbitrary rules.

We're sorry but eyebrows are known to harbor Demodex - You'll have to shave your eyebrows if you want to shop at WokeMart.

Please place your hands under the UV light. If you haven't washed them properly, you will be banned from CrustCo until you receive a certificate of hand washing training.

When you are open to the public for business, you are open to the public. A lot of compromises to "private property" come with a business license. A private business is not a health agency. Unless the business is legally authorized to give medical advice, they should not be doing so by requiring masks. It is no different that requiring someone to be a licensed electrician before they can operate as one. You want to sell hot food to go? You are probably going to need a food handling license. You want to tell people they have to wear masks? You need a medical license for that.

This is not the bake the cake argument. It is not remotely close. If the customer came in and told the shop owner they had to wear a mask, it would be the same.

5
HocusLocus 5 points ago +9 / -4

If the customer came in and told the shop owner they had to wear a mask, it would be the same.

Wrong. If the customer told the business owner they had to wear a mask, that owner could remind the customer they had the right to leave.

I seem to have missed the nationalization of Walmart in the news. Did that sneak in with the Net Neutrality decision?

Let's review trespassing law. If a business posts a sign at the door that says, "Only people wearing cow costumes are welcome" and said business owner calls the cops on someone not wearing one it goes like this,

  1. was directive posted clearly at entry? [yes]
  2. was customer asked to leave [yes]
  3. did customer leave? [no]

Customer is trespassing. It would get weird only if the cops were not wearing cow costumes and were expected to come inside. Thankfully that seldom happens. We love our Moolice.

I don't think there is a parallel. Forcing you to do something hazardous to your health has nothing to do with forcing someone to create art that offends them. I don't think you should be able to ban people from shopping at your store, for being black, being white, or being homosexual. I also don't think you should be able to force someone to create art, such as a gay marriage cake, a picture of Muhammad, or a swastika.

3
Leatherwood 3 points ago +3 / -0

Who would have imagined that we would be discussing the right of a business to turn away customers? We're not just talking one or two customers either. Isn't this just the opposite of what a business in a capitalist society typically does?

Walmart is obviously comfortable that people value shopping there over their personal freedoms. I hope that Walmart is proven wrong. Just the fact that they are based in Arkansas tells us that they are likely corrupt both politically and morally. This latest move, which is happening after the death rate from CV has been reduced to the point that we are no longer in a pandemic, proves the fact.

HocusLocus -2 points ago +3 / -5 (edited)

Conservatives are swearing off the Drudge Report but I check it regularly because it is a fast loading page that reveals the third grade intelligence and emotional level to which the MSM has descended.

The news is FULL of one metric (cases) wedge graphs now. A general lack of critical thinking skills is coming home to roost. These graphs (ludicrously) show only one thing 'new cases' as if it's the only piece of information anyone would ever want to see. And it's presented as a wedge graph, a lazy piece of shit graph which shows cumulative totals increasing forever. The Hockey Stick scam all over again. Since the cumulative numbers are large any change of rates -- angle of slope -- is invisibly small at the resolution it is drawn. It is the slope of a Volcano Of Doom.

These graphs are being pushed by clever people who know full well that showing relative change over time, or superimposing the declining daily hospitalization and death count would interfere with the state of gibbering terror they are trying to trigger.

We are perilously close to the point where everyone needs to choose a tribe and also relocate geographically, away from mass hysteria and madness.

A business Requiring a mask is nowhere near comparable to allowing murder or rape on their property. Bad analogy.

Unless you can point to a law that forbids masks, and the business requires them anyway, then this analogy doesn’t work.

And to be clear, the governors order doesn’t forbid masks. It just says localities can’t require them.

Agree. The same right to property he is refuting because of the "law trumps property" position he asserts would have protected the hypothetical murder victim (his own life is his property) which the right to property guy would certainly observe. The whole thing is backwards. Laws are instituted to protect rights, not violate them or create them out of thin air. It's not some federal law that is most violated by murder, the law is not what makes it wrong, and it was wrong before it was codified.

2

But slavery and tyranny are ok if it's done by corporations?

So any unconstitutional edicr from the government is ok if it's private business doing the enforcement?

thirty3point3 1 point ago +1 / -0

You walking into someone else’s building under your own free will is not slavery. The key thing here is that you are walking into a building that belongs to someone else. In public? Then yeah, I’ll get pissed about it with you. Forcing another citizen to agree with you and serve you by your standards, then we disagree.

1
Fitblue 1 point ago +3 / -2

A business can say you can’t enter the store if you don’t wear a green shirt. They can make rules as long as it does not run afoul of the constitution

8
iminurbas3 8 points ago +8 / -0

I think what's in contention here is whether or not masks are detrimental for your health.

Could a business require you to get a cattle brand to shop? Walk over hot coals to get in the store? My thought is it's probably legal to ask these things of customers but customers could turn around and sue the business into oblivion for their injuries.

I think that's how this will end as well. Class action suits from people (especially employees) saying their health was negatively affected in some way by wearing masks.

9
Necrovoter 9 points ago +9 / -0

Local businesses are not health experts. You wouldn't let Costco force you to get an injection of B-12 vitamins before you shopped there would you?

We have an FDA. We have a CDC. We have state health agencies. Cities and businesses are not only unqualified to make health decisions, they should be banned from making unreasonable health decisions. If they don't like American freedom, get the flying FFFFFFF out of the United States and stop taking American dollars.

Someone else will be glad to take their business. Shoes and shirts are not health requirements. Antimicrobial shoes and copper wear shirts only would be.

5
iminurbas3 5 points ago +5 / -0

Honestly this whole situation is a personal injury lawyer's wet dream. Gigantic corporations forcing their employees and customers to wear masks which obviously restrict breathing in some way... Now all someone has to do is prove it causes some kind of underlying damage (on the off chance it doesn't, some study somewhere will say it does).

I really don't think this ends without class action suits. I think any business enforcing these policies is asking for it.

Absolutley, and worse. The Pro-Mask Shilling over Based Georgia's No Masks EO is off the charts. Did everyone just suddenly, out of the blue, 'decide' to start wearing masks? No, they did not. It's not 'free will'. It's not the 'summer fashion trend'. They're the Victims of a Pernicious Scam. Globalist ideologues, Enemies of not just America but All Free Society, are using Fake News and Fear as Terrorism, .. and using this Completely Scienceless Mask-Theatre as Normalization of the public into Submission and Slavery. 2. Masks create a moist bacteria party right over your mouth and nose. It’s a great way to get zits and other annoying ailments.

I’ve always believed that makes sense. Some people are really disgusting. I don’t want their pus and back hair pubes and shit falling in my food.

2
Isolated_Patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's the opposite. If you go into a store barefoot and step on broken glass, the business is liable for putting you at risk, and blood contamination is a danger to everyone else. So actual health codes require businesses to enforce the wearing of shoes. I'm not sure on the specifics of shirts, but pretty sure it falls in the same health codes somehow.

Unless they want to add masks to the health code, and make businesses actually liable for lawsuit if anyone gets sick at any time from "improper masking" they just don't have the same legal authority to demand people wear masks.

I do agree that they should be allowed to refuse service to anyone they want, but it's not quite the same thing as being legally able to force people to wear masks. Refuse service to enough people and they can boycott or protest outside the doors of the store. They don't get to hide behind some health code ruling that doesn't exist.

Let's give a quick example. You open your new Motorcycle Madness Warehouse. You put in these big aircraft hangar doors, and a couple old fashioned doors. The fire department comes in a week after you open and tells you to take down the big doors, add in 8 emergency exits and gives you 72 hours to have a plan to get it done within 30 days or they will shut you down.

You have a restricted pocket of air in the mask which will have a slightly higher concentration of CO2 compared to the surrounding environment. This absolutely reduces the gas exchange rate in the lungs, causing acidosis, and the feeling of asphyxia. For most it won't be a big deal, but I think you're confusing medical opinion with biophysics.

Edit:

Just to drive this home, this is a consequence of the effect of partial pressure on gas diffusion. I guess thermodynamics isn't a prerequisite for medical school anymore?

-2

7
snafu 7 points ago +7 / -0

Anecdote != evidence, but also notice that I didn't say it would happen, just that it most assuredly can happen. Depending on the level of activity, how well the mask is keeping the "bubble" enclosed (an effective mask == well restricted bubble), and the individual's tolerance to slightly hypoxic conditions, two people can be in the same situation and experience different effects. The feeling of asphyxiation is actually not due to low levels of oxygen in the blood, rather it's due to increased blood acidity as CO2 exists as bicarbonate (an acid) in the blood until it's exchanged via the lungs.

Business don't have a right to say anything, there are just some practices that exist and have not been repelled yet.

2
nutup_orshutup 2 points ago +2 / -0

Except if you are a Christian bakery who doesn’t want to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple.

No offense to our gay pedes, it’s about private business being allowed to operate as they wish. They could refuse me for being a white supremist asshole and I would support that.

2
Isolated_Patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

A business doesn't actually have that right though. A business is actually required to say that for health code reasons. A business cannot require you to use an inhaler, or force you to wear an insulin patch, or deny you the right to either.

The only way a business could enforce their own masking order would be to make masking part of the health code.

They can post it as a request, and they can deny service because I believe in the right to deny service, but that would be opening them up for discrimination if someone has an actual medical exemption.

1
SnakeEyes 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah, they allow people to come in with dogs all the time. Can’t ask them if it’s a trained service dog or an emotional support animal.

2
Joesf23 2 points ago +2 / -0 (edited)

Devils advicate. Businesses can't force muslims to take off the towel, cant force black customers to tuck in their shirts, cant deny gay things to gay people. So, if someone says "I have a medical or religious reason" to not wear one, does the store still have the right to kick them out? Or do civil liberties and rights only apply to non whites who are gay and anti-christian?. I make this argument on FB and it usually gets me thrown out of a group or tossed in FB jail.

2
Kekception 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agree. This is a fantastic argument and is pure logic but I get that liberals will dismiss it. Great analogy. I will use this

-13
Rauru -13 points ago +5 / -18

mask shouldnt be obligatory, but lets not act like porcelain dolls about wearing one either -.-, kinda seems like the left when they get offended by everything, just do w.e you want and dont give excuses. dont give them any way to try and "debate" you

-12
Kekception -12 points ago +5 / -17

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Being a bunch of bitches over fucking masks is the least of our worries. I’d worry more about voter fraud and bullshit like that over. How dare you make me wear a mask. Lol. Wear an offensive obnoxious mask. Make it trigger them. I have the chyna Trump limps mask.

5
SentryS 5 points ago +5 / -0

Are you both daft?

Wear the hijab then. It's just a scarf. Put one on your mother right fucking now!

1
Kekception 1 point ago +1 / -0

Wow, did you just assume I could wear a hijab? I’m a mother fucking helicopter with no doors.

2
OrenthalJamesObama 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah this is a major distraction. We have a fucking election for all the marbles in four months. If Biden wins, wearing masks will be the least of our worries.

15
GodsHonestTruth 15 points ago +23 / -8

I disagree with mask requirements from a business. It's going too far. It completely enables the mob and legitimate reasons to not wear one do exist. The end result is discrimination.

2
trumpforce 2 points ago +18 / -16

Still my house my rules. It's restrictive, I understand but by denying the property owners that right we become just as bad as the Libtards

19
GodsHonestTruth 19 points ago +20 / -1

I suppose I really just don't care about being principled in the face of evil anymore. But I understand your argument completely.

2
WillyP702 2 points ago +3 / -1

You make a good point. I agree with both you. I think property rights are very important but at the sametime I can't act as if the far left is nothing more than the other side of our political system when in reality these people are Anti American terrorists. It's kind of like saying Christianity and Isalmatic terrorists have to play by the same rules because both believe in a religion. One is a terrorists group and the other is a normal religion.

1
GodsHonestTruth 1 point ago +1 / -0

That’s my issue. The left has broken the social contract so why are we sitting here worrying about setting precedents? This is war.

0
Limitfound58 0 points ago +1 / -1

We provide rules on property all the time. Codes, Regulations, and Laws apply on private property. Do you think property owners get to murder with impunity?

6
Shigaru 6 points ago +9 / -3

Nah. Let them have stupid rules. Don't give them your business.

3
mechdork 3 points ago +3 / -0

Trust me. 80+% of people hate wearing masks and only wear them begrudgingly because businesses have a sign out front saying they are required. The signs even make sure to add "due to state and local requirements" so the consumers know it's "not their fault".

The second those requirements are lifted most businesses are going to take those signs down and the few who don't will take them down the second they realize their business is down 80% because no one wants to wear a mask.

1
Swolehas 1 point ago +1 / -0

I mean, the business could be a nursing home and clearly they need to be wearing masks there. Allowing businesses to make the call allows for targeted action, which is what we need in COVID policy. Mike's construction company full of 20-40 year old physically active males probably doesn't need masks, and would lower performance as well

-4
youhateamerica -4 points ago +9 / -13

They don't require you to wear one. They require it if you want to be in their store. Its a subtle but important difference.

Mask use in my area was near universal anyway. The neat thing was that people left me alone when I wasn’t wearing a mask.

5

That's good. No reason to worry about someone else as long as you're protecting yourself

4
DocOne 4 points ago +4 / -0

I haven't been bothered or even noticed a weird look for not wearing one and most people here are wearing them.

2
NobodyLikesSplatter 2 points ago +2 / -0

I got the glares but no confrontations.

15
WhiskeyAndCoffee 15 points ago +16 / -1

Exactly, if someone wants to wear a mask that is entirely their choice

5
Illinoyed 5 points ago +6 / -1

I think everyone be responsible for their own risk especially now. Emergency orders from the government I get, but the checks and balances are being ignored, mainly the limit of days legally for emergency orders. The shoes and shirt policy I believe is also from the government. My understanding is that stems from the health department. I’m not sure, how outside of health and public decency laws, a business can enforce dress. I’ve heard of jacket and tie requirements for restaurants but assumed social pressure was the agent of enforcement. Saw a recent video of black woman getting kicked out of restaurant for her boy dressed too casually. I don’t know how you can reserve the right to deny service in this day and age with lawsuits over gay cakes and cell phone videos everywhere. I do know if you operate as a private club you can control membership and entrance, like a golf course or VFW. Not sure if the same rules apply to Sams and Costco. I’m not a lawyer!

6
NobodyLikesSplatter 6 points ago +6 / -0

Agreed. If you are elderly or infirm, stay the fuck inside in you want. Your choice. The rest of us should be allowed to assume the risk and live our lives normally.

5
Dialectic 5 points ago +5 / -0

Businesses have the right blah blah blah. Factories that have temps well over 100 degrees and manual labor jobs should not be able to force employees who generally make shit wages wear face diapers so they can’t breathe.

OSHA has o2 level requirements but they just turn a blind eye to that because muh pandemic.

Then conservatives (and I’m one) are all like muh private business can do what it wants.

It’s pissing me off to no end because nobody gives a fuck about factory workers

5
Leatherwood 5 points ago +6 / -1

Replying here at the top since the thread was about thanking Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia for being a patriot and standing up for the citizens of Georgia. His actions during this pandemic have solidified my support for him. He is a GREAT Governor. If we had Stacey, who still believes that SHE is the gov of GA, we would be looking at a situation similar to Minneapolis or Seattle. Thank God for Governor Brian Kemp.

4
DaLaohu 4 points ago +4 / -0

I absolutely love how he handled the riots here. Sure, we had them. But after every break out he would send in the guard and arrest people. So, the riots never last for days and weeks here in Atlanta.

4
Tokens_Worth 4 points ago +4 / -0

Correct. Lets me know where NOT to shop!

2
VetforTrump 2 points ago +2 / -0

Except the government is forcing the business to require it or pull the licenses. That has to stop yesterday.

1
Reev_Jax 1 point ago +1 / -0

I live in Georgia and most people don’t wear masks here anyways. the only time I’ve been required to wear one has been at doctors and dentists offices, Oh and great clips which I walked out of and will never return.

1
DaLaohu 1 point ago +1 / -0

You must not live in Atlanta.

1
Reev_Jax 1 point ago +1 / -0

Pretty close to Atlanta but just outside the nonsense zone :)

-1
Slickrick941 -1 points ago +1 / -2

I agree with you. In a free country companies can do as they please as far as in store policies, and the consumer can choose to shop elsewhere. Your vote with your wallet does just as much as your vote at the polls

-18
HillaryAteMyBaby -18 points ago +3 / -21

I agree. But the government tells us to do a lot of things we shouldn't have to do. Like pay income tax.

Yall so pissed and up in arms the government tells us to wear masks for our own health but no one here gives a flying fuck that we pay illegal income tax to do stupid shit like prop up foreign governments or funnel money to Israel

Fuck Newsom man. If PG&E cuts the goddamn power this summer and Newsom locks every at home, he better be prepared to get dragged into the street. I talk shit about him all the time at work and everyone I talk to thinks he’s a bitch so I hope he gets recalled. I’d mark that day down as a personal holiday to celebrate annually.

48
thisisatestof2 48 points ago +48 / -0

CA: Look at us! We are so progressive. We're the 5th largest economy!

Also CA: Sorry, it's windy. Gotta shut off the power in August or 20k acres and thousands of houses go up in smoke.

38
50blessings 38 points ago +38 / -0

Holy shit this stuff pisses me off so much. Like we’re supposed to be one of the largest economies and home to one of the largest centers of technological innovation; yet, when it gets a little fucking windy, we gotta turn the power off. Lick my sack California. Oh we’re gonna waste a bajillion dollars on a bullet train to nowhere instead of fucking updating our power grid since it’s vulnerable to a stiff breeze. Also while we’re at it, stop fucking asking me for more money to fix the goddamn potholes. If anyone believes that money is gonna go there, they deserve to have an asphalt dildo shoved up their ass.

17
shortermemory 17 points ago +17 / -0

I lived in 3rd world countries. Rolling brownouts were common. I lost so much food when the power would cut. Reason I moved home. Now it appears CA is indeed, a 3rd world country.

15

8
86commies1776 8 points ago +8 / -0

It can happen. But we don’t have any leaders that have the balls to do what it takes to make it so.

7
thisisatestof2 7 points ago +7 / -0

I recall a interview from the last time they shut of power for a major city and half they residents were like "It's a good thing and needed to save us from a wild fire" while every small restaurant and convenience store probably lost all their perishable stock and only they larger chain grocery stores in the area had the capitol to either rent tractor trailer sized 500kw or larger diesel generators to keep their refrigeration running or bring in probably 4-6 eeeeevil diesel burning 53' reefer trailers to to save the inventory but loose thousand in revenue.

Not one of them said, this is unacceptable for us to have such an antiquated and dangerous power grid.

8
shortermemory 8 points ago +8 / -0

When it breaks they can ask for fed money to fix it, pocket it, and never fix it. Rinse and repeat.

It’s not about places burning. It’s about control. The electricity being turned off last year didn’t stop fires. In fact, the area that were shut off still had fires. Democrats just hate Americans and target the most conservative areas to shut off.

California had record rain this year and is going through one of the most mild summers (so far June and July have been no where near as hot as usual), but that faggot Newscum and his fellow traitors will still try and say it’s a drought and jack up every bill/tax.

First lockdown, then masks, then "now that they said protests were ok you cant lock it down again" to which they waved their dicks in our faces and did it again. And what? Fuckin sheep put their masks back on and locked themselves back inside.

Nobody is doing shit, it sure as fuck won't start in the liberal hellhole that is CA.

5

6
86commies1776 6 points ago +6 / -0

Millions of illegals replaced the American population. They have been using this playbook all across the US. Check out the demographic changes in the US from 1965 to today. Then, check out the correlation between how many third world shithole parasites invaded to how the state ‘votes’.

Thanks to the 1965 immigration Act, this country will never be the same. And thanks to Reagan, CA was lost within an couple of elections of amnesty passing.

And it’s already happening all over the county. Lots of purple where there was once red and lots of blue where there was once purple.

masks allow sex offenders, perverts, abusers and others to slink and stalk woman and children. how are victims of abuse supposed to feel safe? with everyone hiding behind masks?

How are victims of domestic violence supposed to feel safe?

Everyone forced to hide behind masks? I was badly beaten and raped by my ex boyfriend, he beat and assaulted my kids. I have restraining orders.

Now people like that are free to stalk and taunt their victims?

All these mask orders are doing is allowing people like that to continue the abuse and enabling others to comment crimes.

This nonsense was only supposed to last two weeks. While people are trying to push "orders" on old and sometimes false information while forcing others to live in fear.

At this point the masks are just protecting child molesters, rapists and other abusers.

The best part is all the boomers are A-OK with the mask order because its convenient for them even though they always had the option to stay home.

There isn't even a recall statute for Alabama either, so memaw Ivey is here to stay. I couldn't protest yesterday because I spent all afternoon after work looking into the order and calling police departments asking about enforcement.

But I'm gonna protest today by God. I can't live in this clown world. Id rather die.

I wish De Santis would do the same here in Florida. It's ridiculous. I have been thinking about buying a Gorilla mask and wearing that everywhere. At least it would be more fun than wearing a face diaper.

5
ripturntle 5 points ago +5 / -0

He is under immense pressure from many sides; its early March all over again. I am convinced all of this is being done to scare him into shutting down the State so RNC can't happen. I think Nanshe told Newscum to shut down CA and get the ball rolling.

yes. the only thing is, this probably doesnt invalidate, say Walmart forcing you to wear one to come in, or any business imposing their own policy, and you'll still have Karen's making a scene trying to shame everyone

I'm so disappointed in him.

Just so you all know, CDC guideline on community exposure says masks won’t prevent exposure.

“Note: This is irrespective of whether the person with COVID-19 or the contact was wearing a cloth face covering or whether the contact was wearing respiratory personal protective equipment (PPE)”

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/public-health-recommendations.html

Just look up CDC website and type in community exposure. Basically CDC guideline says if you are exposed to a person who is sick with Covid 19 or tested positive, you and the person wearing the mask won’t protect you from exposure and you have to be quarantined for 14 days. It’s causing chaos at my work place.

2
CaptainChrisPBacon 2 points ago +2 / -0

Everyone should wear a cloth face cover in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

CDC says you do need to wear a facemask. But it does not say it should be mandatory just suggested.

-1
Kaori-chan1 -1 points ago +1 / -2

I’ll be happy to wear a mask if CDC guideline says it’ll prevent community exposure and no quarantine necessary. They can not have it both ways. I’m wondering if there is any journalists out there asking this question to government officials who demand mask and penalize you for not wearing it.

2

I went to Helen, GA last weekend for the first time just to get away. Helen is a "Little Bavaria" themed town, the entire town is officially themed. It is the closest thing you'll find in America at least, but is not fooling anyone from Germany that they are home, put it that way.

I loved it. The food was unbelievably good, great beers, they have a mountain river you can tube down. Sure it was a bit touristy but that's okay for a couple days.

It was such a breath of fresh air to be away from the commie muzzle mandate.

Met a bunch of guys from a motorcycle club that were all Vietnam vets. The kind of guys that when I thanked them for their service they thanked me back like I was the one that did something. Every one shook hands with me, like a man, without batting an eye or hesitating. Almost brought a friggin tear to my eye.

Georgia doesn't require muzzles, which was great because you can pick out the families of NPCs wearing cloth masks outside in the sun easier that way, and deride their ridiculous behavior.

No mask mandate but they do recommend hand sanitizer upon entering any store. I don't know if they made this a rule that sanitizer is to be available for customers but all the stores I went in to had big jugs of sanitizer at the entrance.

To me, this makes far more sense, and has the potential to actually make a difference when it comes to contamination, compared to a mask mandate, with dubious evidence of efficacy.

I had zero problem following such a recommendation and didn't see anyone else with one either.

Georgia was doing it right, IMO. But don't forget Kemp fucked up defying GEOTUS by not appointing Doug Collins like he asked him to and instead put the elite deep stater Kelly Loeffler in the position. She is married to Wall Street.

So I am not sure this is enough to redeem him, unless GEOTUS says he forgives him, Kemp is still dead to me.

I can tell you one good indicator for the US, business was a-boomin. I went to the Hanzel & Gretel candy factory and spoke to one of the managers about how their sales have been, and he shook his head and said he's never seen anything like it. They are sold out of almost everything and can't get product on the shelf fast enough. They have two locations in the one little town and can't crank out enough candy and fudge to meet demand.

The ice cream shop across the street was sold out of half their inventory and was shucking and jiving trying to get people in and out of the place.

Overall great weekend to be an American, just like the last.

1
sustainable_saltmine 1 point ago +2 / -1

I'll take the hand sanitizer ANY DAY over a mask.

2
bagabond 2 points ago +2 / -0

1
BetsyFreedom85 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ditto. Tater Tot drives me insane. Got bitched at by a counter girl at a restaurant today for not having a mask on. The mandate in my county is for shopping and public gatherings only as far as I can see—but other businesses are caving to pressure

1
TexasTeaMAGA 1 point ago +1 / -0

ABBOTT ARE YOU LISTENING!!??

1
first_amendment 1 point ago +1 / -0

That is very out of character in federalist republican land. Typically a the federalist would want the cities and counties to make the laws, even if they are contrary to the state and federal constitution. Many of these "former" southern democrats, especially in the 11th circus, are still trying to win the civil war.

This was purely a display of political might to trigger the left.

I'm not a fan of mandatory mask laws either. But if you have a fear of corona, just stay home.

The masks also impair your ability to ventilate, which is to blow out CO2. Its not just O2 in, it's gas exchange. It also traps all the micro debris ejected with each word uttered, and each breath, kept right in front of your nose and mouth. Not meant to stop virus spread, just a ploy to control.

1
Knytris 1 point ago +2 / -1

Good, there is little to no evidence masks stop virus, actually. The porosity of the typical 'mask' being used is far larger than the size of a virion. As well, more people than not report difficultly breathing when wearing a mask. Hope Florida follows this brave and correct example!

And both of them said it was nothing. I know no one from work. No one online. No one in the neighborhood. No my wife's work. Nobody I can name by name. Yet, fuck it! WEAR A GOD DAMN MASK!

I'm from Atlanta and I assume they will whine about this a bit in town but it's appropriate and Constitutional.

Now, at the same time, we should do our civic duty and wear masks and social distance and generally be aware of this pandemic. There are too many unknowns at this time and I want to protect myself, my family, and especially older people, who make up a big percentage of my family. I'm in a fairly at-risk group myself. Not into lasting organ damage, especially to the heart.

I say all that because I see way way too much certain, hubristic talk about this being nothing and that these precautions are for nothing. History is full of fools rushing in, and as much as I love this community, we have a fuck ton of fools ( and probably trolls) in our midst. I'm vacationing in a quite rural area at the moment and it's impressive how much even the hillbilly sector of the populace is basically 100% masked up out here, and not reluctantly. Many are rocking their own homespun masks and are playing the game overall.
