I can.

Don the Revelator has brought ALL of their true selves out from the shadows.

This is his ultimately going to be his legacy, by the way.

Well, 2016 Trump started something that entirely changed my mind. I turned from a somewhat silent, ignorant and pessimistic quasi-leftist, who thrashed Christianity, into a Libertarian with Conservative ties, respecting Christianity - who now religiously opposes Socialism, Marxism and neo-Marxism.

I accepted the "lesser of the two evils" narrative... but boy after weeks of relentless smears against Trump I was really waiting for Hillary's turn to get roasted. But it never came. Instead it was always about how bad, stupid or evil he was. So the most revealing thing was the media coverage of all of that.

When Trump won, I was surprised - but I was joyful to see Hillary and the deep state lose their candidate, and get an unpredictable madman into office. Someone who is supposed to shatter the system.

And oh boy, Trump did very well in his job. Bush and Obama fade away in importance compared to him - Trump started a cultural revolution (aside from the economical wonders), and when enough time passes, we'll be able to see all of this in a greater historical context. He might very well be the beginning of large changes - because what he exposed will not easily be forgotten. Normal, many politically disinterested people are aware of the insanity of the left by now.

And the virus bullshit furthers the truth about leftists - that they are and always were the largest authoritarians.

Trump simply made the left insane. He broke them. They might never recover from this.

Mine happened in 1980. The media trashed Reagan at the Republican convention. I couldn't wait to see the Democrats get theirs the following month. Never happened. I saw firsthand how biased the media was.

PurestEvil 1 point ago +1 / -0

I haven't existed back then. But it's interesting... once we see the mask slipping, once we see the truth about the media and the establishment, we start to question everything we know about the past. We start to wonder: "Wait a minute, has it always been like that, and did I just get aware of it now?"

And it looks like, the answer is yes. It may be more vicious today, because we have a president who fights back actively. But the process existed for ages.

Also McCarthy was right all along, and the media covered their Marxists allies in high positions even back then. There is no reason to believe it ever stopped.

They actually were neutral towards the Nazis after the Soviets signed a non-aggression pact with them. The media has always sided with evil quite naturally. They just used to not be as shrill as they are now.

Reagan brought about the fall of the Berlin wall. Instead of trying to appease and coexist with the communist he said something along the lines of... How about this: We win, they lose! And that's what happened. This brought about great prosperity and freedom and a sense that the model of the Western world was one for the rest of the world to follow. The west assumed that, eventually all countries would become democratic and have the same values. In some places (like Hong Kong, Taiwan) that sort of happened. But we were arrogant and wrong to think that everyone would simply follow suite. That China as long as we let them develop, they would also become a free country. We were wrong, the CCP never intended to follow the Westren model, and fair enough, that's up to them. But all the while they have abused our appeasement and the greed of the corporate elite to fuel their own authoritarian, dictatorial oppressive regime. Trump saw this happen, and he stood up to it. People laughed at him at first, and the elites and the corporates and the swamp tried to stop him (because it crossed their personal gain). But people are getting it now. And we won't take it anymore.

The second biggest enemy to the CCP is big tech. They are in cahoot's with the communists because they are profiting of their Big FireWall, and they want to provide an profit from the technology that the CCP need to oppress their own people (and eventually the rest of the world).

Nice response. Thank you. We have always covered for the Red Chinese. From the murder of John Birch. to not allowing our marines to shoot at them in Korea, to hiding the Cultural Revolution. They have always walked all over us.

who thrashed Christianity

Why? Genuinely interested in an insight into the leftist mind here. I am basically a classical liberal and I have always seen genuine Christians as, if not allies then at least worthy decent people.

Bashing Christianity seems to be the main hobby of the left. How did you deal with the cognitive dissonance that came from not bashing Islam and Judaism also?

PurestEvil 2 points ago +2 / -0

The basic idea was this: It is not reasonable to assume God exists, therefore everything Christianity is founded upon is wrong. I was also in the mindset that most bad things happen due to irrationality, and that religion was a major source of that. Also one of my brothers got caught into a cult and spews weird nonsense, even though he is quite intelligent (that lay on hands thing and "seeing auras" to the extreme).

As a half Hungarian however I was never very fond of Islam, actually I considered it the worst of all, so I was consistent in that regard. And neither did I thought highly about Judaism. This, and my curiosity about fascism (idea: well, many people seem to advocate for communism/socialism, so what's wrong about National Socialism then?) rendered me a "quasi"-leftist. I was still fond of Socialism. (Technically Nazis are leftists anyway.)

Well, it took a Jordan B. Peterson for me to realize the true value of Christianity and its philosophies.

The real tragedy is that personality wise I was highly drawn to Libertarianism all along, but I had to put up with all that ideological nonsense, only because I lacked exposure to the explanation of Conservative and Libertarian values - or a general/fully rounded understanding of things. Various things as I perceived them didn't make sense, with the catalyst being: "If leftists are the good guys, how comes they support a demon like Hillary? I get it, Orange Man Bad... but when's the hog's turn to get roasted?" Turns out, it didn't happen. I turned away from these pundits who grew into Orange Man Bad channels, I grew bored of it... or I don't know what it was, but had enough of them.

So at the beginning of 2016 I did the following: I dropped all my judgment and started off as a Tabula Rasa. I thought up pro- and contra-arguments for various ideologies, I evaluated everything, I also wrote it down. I wanted to understand the essence, the core of these ideologies - I wanted to get to the roots. Several months later I was confronted with Libertarian values the first time - and that clicked quickly with me.

Anyway, all of that was successful, I purged leftism & socialism out of my system, and I am now well aware of things like propaganda, loaded questions and how the media manipulates. And I am finally certain about my own beliefs, unlike before.

Thanks for the unexpectedly full and frank reply! :)

well, many people seem to advocate for communism/socialism, so what's wrong about National Socialism then

God I fought this battle soooo often at college. My point was that if it was completely unacceptable to wear a swastika t-shirt, it should also be completely unacceptable to wear a hammer and sickle t-shirt. We don't glorify the nazi regime due to the evils they committed, so why does the soviet regime get a free pass? It was literally 10 times as murderous and at least as oppressive. Even fucking askreddit agreed that this double standard was total BS.

Then there was my psychology tutor who insisted homosexuality was completely natural. I pointed out that the base reason for any organism to exist is reproduction, the continuation of genetic material. Therefore, no it is not 'natural'. Of course this was conflated as me hating gays despite my argument being that it's fine and people should be free to pursue their sexual orientation, but don't be calling it normal and natural. It demonstrably is not.

Oh and my English tutor who marked down a Thatcherite style speech I wrote for a persuasive writing assignment. It was marked down for its political stance, not its persuasiveness/technical competence. I was told this outright by the sandal wearing beardy tutor.

lol Safe to say my tutors did not like me (except for the based old lady who taught British and European history, she was great.)

I can't say I had a good education. None of my teachers or professors anywhere were of any remark to me. The good ones were those who didn't unnecessarily torture us. Unsurprisingly, I developed 99% of my skills outside of the government education system. I honed my language skills and grammar by writing, debating and flaming on WoW forums back in the days even.

so why does the soviet regime get a free pass?

Well, because as you probably know, media, academia, most of politics are dominated by Marxists or "moderates" leaning towards Marxism. But it's not just that, it's rather the hippie idea of boundless tolerance and welcoming of degeneracy. Someone argued that postmodernism and everything it entails in itself is the issue. So there is a massive bias.

But see it like this: The clever trick was to pretend that fascism is oh-so fundamentally different from communism (or "Democratic Socialism" / "Socialist Democracy"), but the truth is that fascism is an authoritarian revolt against Marxism itself - like the degeneracy promoted in media, or even their fake news - while largely being similar to its practices. The underlying ideologies are in opposition and somewhat orthogonally turned (race based vs class based) - but both are deeply collectivist, anti-capitalist, anti-Individualist. Both oppose free speech, both have little regard for human rights (negative rights) or individual liberty.

However, Marxism is a multitude more brutal and cult-ish. You could say, in many regards Marxist type Socialism is like Fascism on steroids.

So by name-calling people bigot, Nazi, racist, etc - they pretend that the person is close to fascism or a fascist, while also pretending that they themselves are somewhat different. But it's closer to: "We are playing the same game, and we are rivals, so I publicly smear you to damage your reputation while I bolster mine. It's all about power, and the end justifies the means."

A Libertarian however is in fundamental opposition to both ideologies, and may very well see them to be the same type of overzealous, authoritarian insanity. And the fascist would say: "Well, if the Marxists win because you are too weak and let them abuse you every time, your liberties will vanish anyway, and you will get the worst of both worlds: Maximized tyranny & an insane cult attempting to dissolve your culture forever."

But power corrupts inevitably. It's a devil's bargain. And it will backfire heavily anyway... all the while all sense of ethics is thrown overboard.

I knew it would get better as we approach November, but I never could’ve guess this glistening level of idiocy would be reached before June. Biden is the gift that keeps on giving.

Even the way he said it is racist. It goes without saying that if a Republican said that he'd be crucified.

arebee 1 point ago +1 / -0

who said it? Got a link, i must have missed this.

NeOmega 6 points ago +6 / -0

Joe Biden said it on a talk show its all over the internet

bubadmt 4 points ago +4 / -0

This is his 'basket of deplorables' moment and Trump will absolutely hammer him with it.

BilbroNaggins 3 points ago +3 / -0

You are a fucking a white male!!!!!!

NocturnalPatrol 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's Joe Biden. Of course I can believe he said that.

He has a documented history of putting his foot in his mouth, and now he is so mentally deteriorated that he is beyond the point of even pretending to have a filter.

Joeret 3 points ago +3 / -0

“So I learned about roaches, I learned about kids jumping on my lap,” the former vice president told the audience in Delaware. “And I loved kids jumping on my lap.”

I can’t believe he said this either but here we are.

memewar_pepe 1 point ago +1 / -0

And then some democrats are saying:

"Obviously voting for Biden is the better choice because Trump is racist, but Biden shouldn't have said it in that way"

So fucking easy to call someone "racist". Well how about this you fucking pieces of shit:
