Damn, laying the truth down in Dankmemes. You can get away with it in that sub, because it hasn't been infiltrated yet.

They're already trying to infiltrate it. It used to be 99% full blown red pills, not so much anymore

I remember the site doing a 180 in the months leading into the 2012 election. It used to be easily 80% Ron Paul types (free thinking, to hell with the establishment and fuck political correctness, etc). Then the Obama/extreme left propaganda machine hit some time around I want to say ~May-June 2011 and never frickin left.

I used to be on a subreddit dedicated to conservative Calvinist Christianity. It got overrun by people constantly trying to read socialism into the Bible. Pathetic.

A Swiss friend at uni told me that while the US murder rate is 250 time the Swiss one, still most violence were imported over unprotected land borders and short distances. The typical gun crime was failing to have one. It was mandatory for men of a draftable age to have his governmentn issued assault gun ready.

If you went to a ski resort and left it at home you were fined. This was some time ago.

42
Razeontherock 42 points ago

Were they required to have their rifle with them on skis, James Bond style?

Fun fact: the main style of equipment in the US is known as "alpine," and was created because the US government thought taking people who had never skied before and having them get shot at while on skis was a good idea.

40
Ursus 40 points ago

It was enough to leave it in the cabin, hotel room or the trunk of the car. There were special provisions for traveling abroad. The mandatory arming of all men was part of their rapid mobilization defence strategy.

15
Sirbigusdickus 15 points ago

Nowadays, their defense plan mainly relies upon on holding a large portion of everyones wealth hostage and having the ability to halt global chocolate and coffee production. Besides, everyone knows that they've always had a the ability to yodel the everliving fuck out of their enemies and taunt them from mountain peaks with the refreshing and soothing aromas of a Ricola imbued clear throat,

SPEZ: actually I was thinking of Snow Job. They were both underrated to be honest.

9

I had a snow job once. Pretty sure it was from a woman. There were snow balls.

10
Mexicola1976 10 points ago

It's hilarious that Alpine was a brother. Brothers aren't really known for their affinity for cold weather.

4
Razeontherock 4 points ago

There was a snowjob? Lol, considering that was a term for a scam back then that's not a terribly healthy value to encourage.

Look at Switzerland's demographics, intelligence, culture, wealth, education and family structure. Like Vermont and North Dakota with a fairly high gun ownership rate but a very low violence by gun rate, it's not about the guns it's about the people who have them and their environment.

Now look at Chicago, look at the people who have them (often illegally), look at their culture of violence and crime, school dropouts, lower iq on average, look at their single parent broken homes, look at their self-inflicted poverty.

In 2016, the number of young black men killed by a firearm in Chicago was nearly 50 times the national rate

Chicago needs a Republican like Giuliani to get in there and clean that place up the way he did NYC.

11
QuantumReality11 11 points ago

I would wager close to 100% of the guns used in gang shootings are illegal. Legislation accomplishes nothing. They need to change the welfare state and restore the family unit.

5
Rage 5 points ago

Take a walk through a "neighborhood" on the south side of Chicago and take a walk through a wealthy suburb of Chicago.

Which one would you feel safer walking around in?

Now, both neighborhoods have the same number of guns in the households, maybe even more guns in the wealthy suburb. Why is it that the wealthy suburb isn't a wild west shoot out, and the ghetto on the south side is a warzone? There are guns in both places...

3
Mexicola1976 3 points ago

I never understood why poor people rob other poor people or low rent convenient stores- maybe it's because they have a better chance of getting away with it. I always think of the age old question;"why do people rob banks? Because that's where the money is."

-1
bellamy -1 points ago

Because when I call the cops from my Highland Park house they're in my driveway in three maybe five minutes and those guys know me, they know what my wife looks like, we see them around town and we smile and wave. Those guys are primed to dropthegun or droptheknife someone right away.

You get a call from some MLK or Rosa Parks Boulevard the cops don't come at all.

edit: also, poor people are used to being robbed and know what the deal is. Rich suburbanites panic and do all kinds of stupid shit. It's a hassle.

47
scoggydoogan 47 points ago

0.00012 = 0.012%

14
Anonymous_user_of_US 14 points ago

Yea I didn't catch that he never put a % symbol there.

10
Razeontherock 10 points ago

.0045% is the percentage of murders by gun as compared to US population, as I just calculated it. 2017 is the last year we have data for, 39,773 gun deaths total. 37% were murders. I counted our population as 325 million, which might be a little low.

5
deleted 5 points ago
4
Razeontherock 4 points ago

This too is not as reported. More than 50% committed by 13% of the population? No way Jose. Black males ages 16-45 are the ones committing the violent crime. That's substantially less than 6.5% of the population, committing more than half.

7
Cameron 7 points ago

Fatherlessness killed the once proud and conservative black community. Now they’re back to being slaves to democrats

4
Razeontherock 4 points ago

This is a sad truth. Many black people succeeding in life would disagree that their community is "killed," but the point stands. Hopefully the increase in support for DJT among black people increases the number of traditional families

There were way more than ~1230 homicides by firearm in 2017... is there a typo in your post?

There were 4.5 deaths/100,000 in 2017 due to homicide by firearm.

14,452 homicides by firearm in 2017. Your % is right though.

Here:

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr68/nvsr68_09-508.pdf

9
Razeontherock 9 points ago

Yeah, I corrected it. It's now right.

The really interesting thing is the OP tweet is the 12 per 100,000 that matches Switzerland's "0" is all gun deaths including cops and suicides. The murder rate is 37% of that. And rifles (including shotguns) are 6% of that. But ooh gotta ban those scary AR-14's!

His math is fine, he got the same answer you did. He didn't express it as a %

Looking back at that image, yea he didn't. I guess I got so used to dealing with anti-gun people by showing them percentages that my mind automatically assumed he was using percentages.

4
QuantumReality11 4 points ago

There are a lot of gun deaths in the U.S., and a lot more shootings. The thing is 95% of them are committed by criminals with illegal firearms. Targeting lawful gun owners with more restrictions solves nothing. Make all the laws you want, a gangbanger in Chicago won't even notice.

5
Cameron 5 points ago

Gun deaths isn’t the same as gun murders. A LOT of gun deaths are suicides, you have to differentiate between the two if you’re trying to make a point one way or the other.

1
QuantumReality11 1 point ago

I just think it's disingenuous to pretend we don't have a gun violence problem in this country. We do. We have a ton of needless shootings in the inner cities. Most people who get shot survive, which is a testament to our health care. But the media only ever talks about mass shootings, which make up a tiny percentage of the whole., and they won't even mention the vast majority that happen in inner cities. Gun legislation does nothing to stop criminals who don't give a fuck about the law, and possess illegal weapons.

1
Cameron 1 point ago

It’s not a gun violence problem, it’s a violent people problem, buddy.
Inner cities are violent for a reason, and it’s not the guns making them murderous.

1
QuantumReality11 1 point ago

I agree 1 hundo. The problem is they use those shootings to try to enact gun control and increase police powers. They have absolutely no desire to actually end gun violence. But they will never break down the numbers between the small amount of legal firearm homicides and the much larger amount of illegal gun homicides. They just say we have a lot of shootings and blame the NRA. But you're right it is a societal problem and not a gun problem. The destruction of the black family unit and the socialist welfare state of the inner cities is the actual problem.

I am absolutely pro right to bear arms, but from professional risk management POV, 12 per 100k or 120 per million is not small number. Keep arms, but murderers gotta be put away or executed - hard.

1
QuantumReality11 1 point ago

How many of those were by legal gun owners who would actually adhere to gun legislation. I don't know for sure but I don't imagine to many GDs are NRA members. More legislation on law abiding citizens accomplishes nothing.

My uncle and cousins live there. My uncle told me when he visited here that my cousin was trained and keeps his rifle under his bed. He has to keep his accuracy up because they got a yearly test or something and if he fails that he's sent back to bootcamp. :))
