So medicare guarantees a hospital gets $13,000 for any patient listed as having covid-19.

And $39,000 if they go on a ventilator.

Let that marinate for a bit.

edit: dr. jensen talks about it here - https://youtu.be/IkMSEHmeaNQ

At this rate, hospitals will soon be dragging people in off the street and putting them on ventilators just to rake in the $$$$.

51
phibetared 51 points ago

Roughly 10 years ago the Russians were running this type of scam in Brooklyn. They'd pay people $50 to go have a doctor exam. Doctor would run tests, charge US govt $500. Nice racket.

Hmmm 🤔🤔😥

18
Staatssicherheit 18 points ago

I think the patients have a say in this.

58
pookiee68 58 points ago

Back when this was America, yeah ..

17
Jabron661 17 points ago

Soon, that equation might change if we keep heading down the communist way and fear rules the land.

13
Faintlight 13 points ago

Patients don't have a say in whether or not they can be given hydroxychloroquine to avoid the ventilators.

4
BestTimeToBAlive 4 points ago

Ppl don’t even really have a say if they could be tested. Then once positive, they don’t have a say in whether they can get treatment. It’s pretty f’d up. This whole thing stinks to high heaven. We better open up on May 1 or by then, this will really stink rotten

12
Tonightm01 12 points ago

Yeah, with people getting arrested on the streets. I don't think matters anymore. Sure the American Gestapo force with round them up for them.

For how long?

Not really. Family isn't even allowed in the hospital to dispute it.

So I guess they'll have to give them their cut.

_bryan 10 points ago

That happened in Texas during the Great Depression. Banks offered a bounty of “$10,000 for a dead bank robber but not a penny for a live one.” Texans were killing the homeless and collecting bounties left and right.

Frank Hammer stopped it by going to Austin and complaining. He’s the Texas Ranger who killed Bonnie and Clyde.

Always follow the money.

(I believe you, but where could I find the paperwork on this? If I make a meme, i want to be able to include a source on it.)

I just heard a clip of Fauci saying it on Rush Limbaugh.

I'm searching for the source right now myself.

Interview on Fox - https://youtu.be/IkMSEHmeaNQ

14
14
spezisthedevil 14 points ago (edited)

Thanks. Democrats and crooked doctors must be licking their lips.

From a Fox News interview 04/09/2020:

Dr. Scott Jensen, a Minnesota family physician who is also a Republican state senator said:

"Right now Medicare has determined that if you have a COVID-19 admission to the hospital you’ll get paid $13,000. If that COVID-19 patient goes on a ventilator, you get $39,000; three times as much. Nobody can tell me, after 35 years in the world of medicine, that sometimes those kinds of things [have] impact on what we do."

Does anyone know if the medicare maximum payment is the same in every state, or do medical costs from state to state differ enough for medicare to use a scale?

...and where can we find the documentation that says what the payout limits are?

3
HilarityComplex 3 points ago

Thanks for looking out.

28
PITPatriot 28 points ago

And here it is.

During Hurricane Sandy, my employer was paid $130/hr per employee that worked, even at double time rates, they were making bank just having us work.

19
ProfessorRomendev 19 points ago

Probably a dumb question, but would that make it profitable to put random patients on ventalators, even if they dont need it?

Like, how much does it cost to use the ventalator and keep it running?

15
LostViking1985 15 points ago

Not $39,000

They are making bank on this

2
_bryan 2 points ago

Have you not heard how much doctors and techs make? Our systems are all bloated.

4
LostViking1985 4 points ago

Of course, but a few patients a month at $39,000 a pop? That should cover the monthly overhead, easy.

4
MAGAMoose 4 points ago (edited)

How much do you think Dr's and techs make? Trust me they are not the ones going home with this money.

Only one entity makes money and it is the state. This is just one of many ways to steal from the taxpayers. DDG hospital tax, and look up what NY did with their previous stock pile of ventaltors. (they took them from the fed and auctioned them of to their buddies at bottom dollar)

1
_bryan 1 point ago

I'm sure you're right, but I don't know what to do about it.

3
MAGAMoose 3 points ago

The best we can do for now is to make sure the blame falls on those who deserve it. Then hope enough people see it to vote these criminals out of power.

8
Side-o-Beef_Curtains 8 points ago

Probably easier to fudge paperwork than start ramming ventilators down throats unnecessarily

"But he just scrapped his knee...

9

I'm not sure they're actually aiming to kill people for money. Just that they have lots of incentive to inflate numbers.

Exactly. And if the flu and pneumonia don’t bring in this kind of cash, so might as well call those Covid-19

Gas: $1.89 a gallon

If run through a hospital/insurance program:

Gas: Insurance: 5$ a month
Gas: $26 a gallon
Insurance 'negotiated' price: $10 a gallon Insurance 'pays': $8 a gallon
Your coinsurance is $2 a gallon
and your copay is $1 per gas station visit.

4
HilarityComplex 4 points ago

All of that grifting bullshit is caused by

  1. Government subsidies (medicare, obamacare, etc)

  2. A trade union/lobbying group called the American Medical Association

Or, more simply - a bunch of commie fuckery

Just like giving money to people to pad coronavirus case numbers.

3
taterNuggs 3 points ago

I can't find the financial info, but a direct confirmation of source is it's on the Medicare site: https://www.medicare.gov/medicare-coronavirus#400

Medicare covers the lab tests for COVID-19. You pay no out-of-pocket costs.

Medicare covers all medically necessary hospitalizations. This includes if you're diagnosed with COVID-19 and might otherwise have been discharged from the hospital after an inpatient stay, but instead you need to stay in the hospital under quarantine.

If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan, you have access to these same benefits. Medicare allows these plans to waive cost-sharing for COVID-19 lab tests.

1
HilarityComplex 1 point ago

Thanks!

2
LetFreedomRing 2 points ago

Holy moly. This all makes sense now... do they get bonuses for deaths? Will hospitals not treat patients with the Trump cocktail in order to get more money? Are our lives worth $39k? We need to find doctors who will administer our saviors pills because I do not want to end up in the hospital. Fuck that!

It's also massively illegal to give patients treatments that are not needed just to get cash. Medicare fraud is a big deal.

Anyway, if you were a hospital executive, doctor, or nurse, would you do or allow any of the fraud that is being alleged by the posters here? If not, why do you think you are morally better than the people who are in those positions now?

20
HilarityComplex 20 points ago

Laws do not stop people from breaking them.

Fraud is illegal. It happens CONSTANTLY.

0
kesquare2 0 points ago

And they get caught constantly:

There's actually a huge financial gain for people who can prove Medicare fraud. I think it's 1% of the recovered amount? Anyway, work hard and prove this massive fraud that you think is going on now. You will be rich.

16
HilarityComplex 16 points ago

Lol.

It will happen within the next several months or few years.

I guarantee it. There will be huge allegations of medicare fraud concerning covid diagnoses and the government will prosecute them because they will want the money back.

Sure. Let's see what happens.

illegal

morally

Do you really think any of this applies? Medicine is big business, and business is amoral - meaning it doesn't intrinsically have morality, only the entity engaged in it.

If you want to regulate behavior, the laws need to be enforced, and the punishments should outweigh the rewards.

FL2PC72LE 6 points ago

Not at first, but I think a lot of them gradually come to the conclusion that they might as well, if they ever want to pay back their half-a-million dollar student loans and keep up with their massive malpractice insurance payments.

2
Staatssicherheit 2 points ago

What if you were the doctor in question. Would you?

7
FL2PC72LE 7 points ago

I hope not, but I imagine myself being like the guy from Quiz Show... the corruption sneaks in gradually. First you find yourself ordering tests that... PROBABLY you don't need, because PROBABLY that's not what's wrong ("It's never Lupus") but since it's paid for... hey... why not.

Then you start prescribing things that are ... more preventative. That is, they don't have this condition now, but they COULD, in the FUTURE, and prevention is key, you know.

Then you rationalize that even though they are breathing okay, a little extra oxygen won't hurt, and if you don't use those ventilators now, someone higher up will decide the hospital doesn't need them, and they'll take them away, and then where will you be when you need them, hm? Better use them now.

Then you come to the conclusion that this patient is going to die anyway, but if you put them on the vent for a short time, they will still die, but the hospital can use that money to save other people, see? And we need the money. So....

Yeah, I hope I wouldn't, but I know fraud happens, and I also believe that, while many people don't go in intending to commit it, they gradually drift into rationalizations that allow it, and they get pressure from above to make it happen...

0
Staatssicherheit 0 points ago

I agree. People drift into it through rationalizations but don't go into it intending to commit evil acts. Can I call you Anne now too?

HilarityComplex 9 points ago

We have both Birx and the CDC guidelines stating that unconfirmed covid patients go on the rolls, and monetary incentive to list people as having covid.

This is a concern.

I do not think you will ever be convinced of government wrong-doing in these matters as you are constantly defending the inaccuracy of the models and anti-ethical behavior of the authorities based on those models.

I do not mean Trump! He is not the concern. It's Birx and Fauci enabling the governors and mayors of this country to step on the rights of the American citizens and destroy our economy.

-10
Staatssicherheit -10 points ago

I think people are fueled by self-interest but are fundamentally good. No one is evil just for the sake of being evil.

9
2016TrumpMAGA 9 points ago

Every time I think I've seen the stupidest thing ever posted on the internet, someone outdoes it. Occasionally, someone outdoes it spectacularly. Congratulations, you may be the all time, final winner.

7
HilarityComplex 7 points ago

That's nice. But there are plenty of people who steal and commit fraud.

And the government says that the more people you diagnose as having covid the more money you get, and condones listing people as having covid even if it is just assumed, then it doesn't take much rationalization for people to engage in unethical behavior.

5
Faintlight 5 points ago

I used to think this until I learned about sociopaths.

True Sociopaths are interesting cases. If not frustrating. People without mental illness can not effectively empathize or understand with their motives. Makes for fascinating fictional characters though. Dark Knight's Joker. Makishima Shogo.

I find it humorous that dying ratings giants like CNN and MSNBC, which couldn't attract ants to a picnic, stubbornly refuse the high ratings that the task force briefings generate each day. It's as if these networks desire failure more than anything. Fewer and fewer people subject themselves to these lib networks already - and they believe refusing to cover highly rated briefings by the President is somehow smart business. They make idiots look smart.

Glad to see the WH is finally telling CNN to piss or get off the pot
