That was long but very good. Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer when you go out after you touch anything, don’t touch your face. Only go to hospital if you are short of breath. Practical info from a NYC doctor/respiratory guy. He does say this is the new norm (social distancing) for the next 3 to 6 to 9 months, but I got the impression he’s not saying life shuts down for this time frame, but rather we need to rethink shaking hands and stop ourselves from touching our faces.

So we are to all imprison ourselves for a year or more hiding from something that will likely never go away? Sounds like fun.

BLAM

I feel left out on the BLAM phrase, never heard it before, but I like it!

So, I brought up the 3 to 6 to 9 month thing from this doctors comments because he seems to think this thing will be around for a while and we need to not “unlearn” the hand washing and NOT touching your face.

There was really nothing he said that indicated we couldn’t go back to work- though this is where I know the discussion and debate will be. Can people where masks (primary reason is to keep you from touching your face not protecting you from germs) and stay 3-6 feet from people and do their jobs. The answer is yes, but in the minds of many, we are all infants and cannot be trusted.

I can only say this, I very much appreciated this video because he took a whole lot of fear out of this for me (have a medically fragile daughter). According to him, it’s not as contagious as we think, and if you practice hand washing/sanitizing whenever you touch things and cease close contact with lots of people at a time, we can prevent the spread.

I hope others will watch and weigh in. Our battle is definitely in knowing what this virus does and what to expect. He gave good information that on the cases they are seeing.

Don’t go 🤪 (wishing I knew how to italicize)!

Not sure if we are on the same page or not, it’s always hard to tell! I’m wayyyyyy more concerned about how we are in a socialist state right now (centralized planning, shortages, hoarding and constant fear) than I am of the virus.

I just really appreciated the practical points by this doctor because everyone around me is hysterical. It makes it harder when you have a vulnerable family member because you doubt that you are doing enough to protect them since everyone is freaking out! Anyway, Gods speed.

I wear a face mask when I walk my dog. And if I MUST go to a store I wear plastic disposable gloves and bring disinfectant wipes.

There are youtube videos on making surprisingly effective face masks if you don't have one.

He did mention a couple times that generally you need prolonged exposure (20-30 mins) of being with someone with the virus. It’s not just touching the person, though obviously that is a way to transmit, but touching a door knob that someone with the virus just touched. He seemed to say people are getting the virus on their hands and then touching their face.

It's only gotten worse so far, but still mild.
