Ferguson’s model projected 2.2 million dead people in the United States and 500,000 in the U.K. from COVID-19 if no action were taken to slow the virus and blunt its curve.

Action was taken. A lot of it.

Also, I don’t think there was any bias or bad intent with the initial model. Adaptive action was taken, but even if this model reflected something else, new data has been coming in the any initial models should be revised as new/better data is included.

Problem is his revised prediction points to the UK lockdown that's only been in effect for 2 (now 3) days when it would take ~2 weeks to see the benefits.

What actually happened here is that he was being called-out on his shit model which uses busted code. (nobody was allowed to see it and it's old)

Sounds like Neil said one thing when funding was to be had and another thing when he was called to testify. Weird how that works.

I don't really trust any epidemiology. It's not real science. I should have added that to my original comment. I was thinking about it.

what a dumbass --- the dude should be sued to within an inch of his life
recklessly publishes a WRONG report, leading to massive loss of wealth and increased hardship and angst
his name should be mud
and he should be relegated to a county mental health facility in a rural portion of kentucky or idaho for the rest of his days...
