DO YOUR PART TO SLOW THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS

Even if you are young, or otherwise healthy, you are at risk and your activities can increase the risk for others. It is critical that you do your part to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

  • Work or engage in schooling from home whenever possible

  • If you work in a CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE INDUSTRY such as healthcare services and pharmaceuticals and food supply, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule. You and your employers should follow CDC guidelines to protect your health at work.

  • AVOID SOCIAL GATHERINGS in groups of more than 10 people.

  • Avoid eating or drinking at bars, restaurants, and foot courts-- USE DRIVE-THRU, PICKUP, OR DELIVERY OPTIONS.

  • AVOID DISCRETIONARY TRAVEL, shopping trips, and social visits.

  • PRACTICE GOOD HYGIENE:

  • Wash your hands, especially after touching any frequently used item or surface.

  • Avoid touching your face

  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue, or the inside of your elbow.

  • Disinfect frequently used items and surfaces as much as possible.

I'm about 99.99% positive that my wife and I already had this and got over it. A few others in my office think the same. What I want to know is can we get tested to see if we did have it and can we get it again.

3
Luker1234 3 points ago

The answer to the first question is no. The current test only tests where you are shedding virus (in your nose). We do not yet have a test to determine if someone has had the virus. This test would also be the test that could offer insight to the risk of re-infection.

3
PAIN_TRAIN_69 3 points ago

I had two dozen co-workers including myself, go down with a nasty flu at the beginning of January. One ended up hospitalized for a few days, and she confirmed they never figured out what it was. I think now, we all know.

This is all bullshit. This virus is a nothing Burger compared to even the regular flu. The President again is only doing this for reflection. Which is smart. He must show a concern and must show that he did something. He went further than what the left wanted yett they still call him racist and hateful

But what it's doing now is truly negative. It's hurting business, school and jobs. The very thing he worked so hard for 3 years to grow, now it's crashing down. And the left are loving it.

-1
FatMountaingoat -1 points ago

So its killed 1-2% of ppl that have gotten it. That means if everyone in the US gets it then 3.5-7 million ppl die. What about the international reports of mass casualties dont you understand or believe?

1
Bendemova 1 point ago

That percentage is of only confirmed cases it doesn't include an estimate of people who most likely had it but didn't seek medical attention like the flu percentage does.

If we want to compare the flu with Chinese virus we should view them evenly by only using confirmed cases to determine the death rate. When we take only confirmed Cases of flu the death rate is 10%. With Chinese virus its 1-2%.

Additionally once we add the estimated non reported case(which we dont have at the moment) to confirmed cases of Chinese virus. That Percentage will drop dramatically much like the 10% flu does when we include the estimated non reported cases ~1%.

1
Barthaneous 1 point ago

Who arguing with the Presidents actions? Not me. I agree with what he and everyone is doing. We are talking about the hysteria. The exaggerated panic and worry and fear.

0
FatMountaingoat 0 points ago

Whos panicking? I only see the state/fed govt mandated response.

5
dantepicante 5 points ago

This shit right here is the correct answer. It's absolutely disgusting that the media is intentionally causing mass hysteria and crashing the economy.

2
Barthaneous 2 points ago (edited)

They should be held for such crime. Again I'll say it. It is 100% illegal to scream Fire in a public place when there is no Fire.

What difference is this when the media screams VIRUS? .

Nothing. Hold them for treason and or in the minimum hold them accountable for all financial loss.

0
FatMountaingoat 0 points ago

Dude, there is a real virus. The media has been talking about it because it is a real threat that is at least 6x more deadly than the flu. Trump isnt responsible for the market crash and neither is cnn.

0
Barthaneous 0 points ago

The Flu kills more every year. The threat is that it's just another version. Not a million times worse or thousand or hundred or even ten times. It has a 93% survival rate. And it effects the elderly and weak immune the most. Yet even the elderly are coming out of it. Look at Italy.
All that you see is hyped. Yes people are dying but lool where and who. Where is the location of heavy Chinese travel spots and located by large elderly populations.

Keep clean, stay inside and limit contact for 30 days. Got it . It's a good practice. People should still work still do what they have to but not purchase items as if it is a natural disaster approaching. Media makes the panic worse. So stop and have faith and be of joy and not fear.

1
FatMountaingoat 1 point ago

So you have to see it before you believe it? Why do you believe anything that ANY news source tells you, including Fox?

0
FatMountaingoat 0 points ago

You must have failed math in elementary school. This virus kills at least 5 times more ppl than flu for those who have been infected. Therefore when it spreads through the entire population it will kill more people than flu. Yes, today it hasnt killed more people than the flu but in 6 months it may.

7
Lila_Quartermaine 7 points ago

I believe this is a Test Case for the media to measure and demonstrate their power. It's truly chilling. And I don't mean fever chills

He’s just placating the libs. It’s still bullshit. I don’t know anyone in real life who has it. George Soros and fake news are manufacturing a panic, the deep state will do anything to stay in power.

Most people just want to be left alone, but these people have psychological illusions of grandeur. So dumb. Now I can’t go to the gym just because they’ve got a hard-on for power.

1

2
whippeat 2 points ago

Oh, you almost certainly do know someone in real life who has it. Exponential growth and a 14 day incubation period. It's virtually certain that you do.

Also bear in mind, 60% of people are asymptomatic. Increases the odds even more.

Though I share your frustration about closed gyms. Sucks.

6
CurvedLightsaber 6 points ago

60% of people are asymptomatic

Some fucking pandemic this is that over half of people don't even notice they have it. Sounds like a great reason to destroy our economy.

If this was happening under Obama it would be swept under the rug like swine flu.

So, use hand sanitizer while being ineffective at governing?

3
Larka 3 points ago

The mask isn't to protect you, it's to stop you from aerosolizing the virus by coughing/sneezing, thus protecting others.

Basic hand soap is also equally effective if you wash correctly.

-5
Simple_Doot -5 points ago

Regardless of the shit, we are two to three weeks away from hundreds of thousands if not millions of people being out of work with every indication imaginable pointing towards things going exactly that way or worse. I hope not but actual infections are probably 300-400% higher than being reported in U.S. because of shit testing capabilities.

I understand we are in overdrive for testing capabilities but it is straight up too little too late. This is the most difficult trial Trump has faced and will make or break his second term. It is that serious.

2

2
Simple_Doot 2 points ago

There is no cure for any virus on earth but that doesnt mean we dont need accurate information about incurable infections.

3

Testing allows people to know whether they have the early stages of a cold or the early stages of the Wuflu. It allows them to quarantine and stop the spread.

The economic fallout from this will be the real tragedy.

Not just the stock market.

Small businesses employ the vast majority of people in this country and a great number of them will close forever because of the forced shutdowns, etc.

This is a huge victory by our nation's enemies.

Government will continue to expand its size and power to "help."

America is headed straight into socialism.

I’m not saying it’s fake, just the hype about how bad it is. This was all planned.

1
FatMountaingoat 1 point ago

If everyone in America gets it then at the 1-2% mortality rate it will kill 3.5-7 million ppl. Thats pretty bad. For perspective, heart disease was the #1 killer in 2017 and it killed 650,000 ppl. This would be at least 5 times worse.

I'm tired of the whinging and whining about "my freedoms!" by the libertarian types. They're MY freedoms too, and I love them, but when it comes to public health and inconsiderate citizenry I TAKE EXCEPTION. This is one of the reasons why I left the Libertarian party.

Our POTUS is reluctant to be heavy handed and implement any kind of martial law or police crackdown on violators. He expects American adults to act like grownups and think and be considerate of others.

To do so would set a dangerous precedent. What if a socialist got into the office of the Presidency and then declared a global warming emergency and implemented martial law.

And for those skeptics who aren't persuaded about what is happening in Italy, read this piece by Newt Gingrich.

There is no need to take any exception. "Your liberty to swing your fist ends just where my nose begins" and your liberty to leave your house ends just where you can transmit a deadly disease to me.

9
Fabius 9 points ago (edited)

and your liberty to leave your house ends just where you can transmit a deadly disease to me.

And you have the right to not leave your house if you believe that you are at risk. You have the right to voluntarily not engage with society if you believe you shouldn't.

Your mindset is authoritarian. What are you going to do if a sick person leaves the house? Arrest them? What if they resist? Are you going to shoot them?

Maybe this is more a philosophical question, because if it were a deadly disease, maybe we should shoot them. If that's the case, maybe we should shoot people for other reasons - for other ills to society and the general welfare. Maybe we should shoot people who poison our minds with doubt? Or panic? And if that's the case, maybe an authoritarian government is the best, or only, way forward.

The question is whether we're running this country, our cities, our communities like a British naval vessel in the 18th century, or like a nation of free men who are united. If we can't even trust each other to not spread deadly diseases, why the fuck are we country in the first place? Do we really have that much in common? Maybe the correct path is to eliminate the state all together, and regroup under more common, familiar terms. Town, tribe, family. Maybe that's the more natural arc of existence, and perhaps more beneficial to everyone.

Nachleben 4 points ago

Now, the government has discovered it's new "war." They do not need an actual loving breathing substantial threat anymore. Now, just be terrified of the invisible germs.

I advise everyone to follow these guidelines to the letter and ask everyone around you to do so if you want to get trump reelected.

We can debate on whether this virus is a natural occurence or whether it is a bioweapon. Also whether it is hyped or not.

It has created mass panic in society. This is a bit similiar to how the virus itself harms the body. It is not the virus that causes that much harm but our immune system that overcompensates and destroys non viral cells also.

In a similiar way, nations are overcompensating by destroying their economies to defend from the virus.

The problem right now is that due to its high contagion rate, it is spreading at an exponential rate.

This will go when either there is a cure or the mortality rate stablizes and people shift from initial panic to psychologically factoring this as another way among many others like disease, ageing, accident etc that kills people.

One doesn't stop to drive because there is some small probability of an accident.

So it is of utmost importance to decrease the rate of spread as soon as possible.

Because the panic has lead to a shock on the market. Economy is a strong point for trump.

But here is the thing, this is not like the 2008 recession, which was due to deep structural defects in the housing finance system.

This is an artificial economic shock.

Sellers have goods to sell and buyers have money to buy . The only difference is that due to this virus, sellers and buyers are unable to complete the delivery phase.

As soon as this external factor removes, the economy will jump back to its original condition

But if this goes on for long time then money and goods will start to deplete from the economy.

This is why it is important to adhere to the instruction and end this situation as soon as possible.

On a side note, I am not basing my own preference in 2020 on any adverse effect on the economy due to the foreign coronavirus. Anybody who blames trump for the economy falling temporarily due to an out of human control global disaster is a shill.

And I know that demoncrats will be a bigger and existential threat to the country than temporary shocks

3
deplorableforlife 3 points ago

Absolutely agree. If we beat this together following Trump's orders he essentially becomes an effective wartime president. That is going to give us FOUR MORE YEARS.

1
mountainarrowhead 1 point ago

If all the panic doesn't kill the economy and the stock market. People won't vote for Trump if they end up loosing half of their 401k. This is chess not checkers. The deep state doesn't want you to live your normal life.

1
FatMountaingoat 1 point ago

This is an economic crisis because it showed deep structural defects in global supply chains, and containment measures will inflict untold economic pain on working Americans.

6
MrTrumpsWildRide 6 points ago

What deep structural defects?

It showed an over-reliance on China for some important products, and highlighted some of the (many) drawbacks of globalism. But those things have already been long known and is exactly what Trump campaigned on and got elected for, so this has really shown nothing new.

Raising tariffs on hostile nations, renegotiating traditional (i.e., not globalist multi-lateral) trade deals, and stimulating domestic manufacturing have been the best measures to start improving resilience to problems like this. Obviously it'll take a lot longer than 3 years to turn the ship around, but we would have been in far worse shape under neoliberal Crooked Hillary.

1
Nachleben 1 point ago

You just named structure defects. An "interdependent" world. One that relies on bat eating goat fucking nations.

1
MrTrumpsWildRide 1 point ago

They're not actually that deep really. Everybody thinks the world would screech to a halt without China, but that's not actually true at all.

This virus has revealed nothing we didn't already know about structural defects. It actually may end up revealing yet more globalist lies and propaganda about how reliant the west is on China.

1
Tywappity 1 point ago

They are deep as hell. Having your entire raw material and manufacturing base dismantled and moved overseas is pretty fucking deep. Being reliant on any foreign nation, especially China, is a Mariana Trench level of deep.

1
MrTrumpsWildRide 1 point ago

18

I wished he would require the CDC to publish not just how may people have it but how many have been tested as a whole. I'm sick of seeing the 11 test , 11 positives meme.

1
thisisatestof2 1 point ago

The CT ChiComVirus website used to show a PDF of numbers tested by state or private labs detailing the break down of positive and negative results on a county level. Now they just show only positive results.

6
albino 6 points ago

Where are these numbers people are getting from? And you still trust the media and government that they wouldn't make these up?

I still don't think it's a reason to do anything different than our normal day to day. The problem I have with the so called mortality rate and require hospitalization percentages is that we don't actually know how long and how many people have had this virus. My guess is that it's been around for several months already in the US and all these numbers are way lower, and it's really not a reason to be concerned.

I think Trump is doing this is to calm the panic because 15 days isn't going to do anything in terms of "flattening the curve".. If the virus is in the US (which I believe it is) then there's nothing to be done then let it run it's course.

26
UndeadRevolver 26 points ago

Am medical professional. If you have to sneeze, try pulling your shirt collar up over your nose and mouth. It will catch the spray cone and minimize airborne droplets. Your elbow sucks at this just directs it downward.

1
mountainarrowhead 1 point ago

What about armpit?

8
QuranIsToiletPaper 8 points ago

Sneezing into your elbow also seems incompatible with the advice to substitute an "elbow bump" for a handshake.

The CDC advice I have seen is to sneeze/cough into a tissue, but obviously that is not always possible.

11
AbibasGopnik 11 points ago

Elbow bump? Ridiculous, how about we don't touch each other for a few weeks? A friendly wave does the job just as well

5
QuranIsToiletPaper 5 points ago

I would agree that no physical contact with strangers for a short period is probably the best approach.

However, many people have a strong habit and impulse to physically greet another person in our culture.

I imagine almost anything is preferable to a handshake, at least, in terms of transmission potential.

17
bulldog65 17 points ago

Fast food really should be a no-no. The young person that is wrapping your burrito up, could very well be carrying the virus, and you will deliver it to your mouth. South Korea has done a great job because they have been aggressively testing. Italy failed in that respect (and us too, at least to this point). They have only been testing the obviously ill. South Korea has found that 30% of their cases are 20-29 years old. These people have few if any symptoms, but are still highly contagious. These unknown carriers have to be identified, and quarantined if you want to have any chance of bringing it under control. People in critical infrastructure like grocery stores need testing every 2 weeks at a minimum.

5
Jcholl9 5 points ago

Yes, I have to agree with all of the above here... If you feel sick stay home/ don't risk infecting others even if it's just a small bug!

But until something happens just go about everyday life and use plenty of 'Hand Sanitizer' a few times a day.

This is what I'm doing but I won't be giving into PANIC

it's the same as any bad flu virus. the sissification of society has required the POTUS to dictate proper social etiquette when one falls ill.

1
deplorableforlife 1 point ago

Its about 20 times as deadly as the flu.... flu kills 1 in 1000 (at worst) This kills 2 in 100 at a minimum.

2
DocOne 2 points ago

Not exactly. This kills 2% of the most severe cases since that's who's getting tested. The majority of people don't have symptoms bad enough to seek medical help and the actual mortality is a fraction of that. Currently the best guess is ~ .6% of all cases and far lower still for those healthy and under 60.

0
FatMountaingoat 0 points ago

Flu had an estimated .1% mortality rate last year, ref CDC. So this is at least 6X more deadly.

So if everyone in the US gets it, at .6% mortality rate that would be 2.1 million Americans dead. For reference heart disease, the #1 killer in 2017, kilked about 675,000 ppl.

Need to get some real facts out there so ppl stop talking out of their asses.

1
DocOne 1 point ago

What on Earth leads you to believe everyone in the US will get this? Also your made up numbers assume perfectly normal distribution and zero advancements in the treatment and prevention of the stupid thing. Go make shit up somewhere else.

0
FatMountaingoat 0 points ago

Okay lets just say that this will infect the same number of pply that got the flu last year. CDC estimated 35M cases of flu last year and 35000 deaths. Thats .1% mortality rate. If corona infects only 35M ppl then it will kill .6% (the lowest mortality rate weve seen for Corona in South Korea), or 210,000. So yes this is worse than flu and i didn't make up any numbers. BTW, the flu kills that many ppl and we HAVE a vaccine. We don't have a vaccine yet for Corona. Hang on tight to your gun, im sure it will protect you from this.

Back when the Paddock thing happened, our boards were suddenly invaded for like a month or two with shills that would just argue with eachother, pretending to be on opposite sides of the issues, and they would back-and-forth with these insane walls of text that went on for miles and miles, and nary a real pede in sight, it was just duck n cover and try and make eachother out over the din.

If you called them out, they would just grind you into dust with reply after reply after reply for days they would go. They made it nearly impossible to get anything discussed properly. Which was the point. Kind of like what's going on right now.

it's not the fucking flu. that's why. It's twice as deadly and way more infectious. Plus, the biggest issue is that it could set up permanently and kill untold numbers over time.

Depends on what statistics you use

19
Binosarus 19 points ago

Agreed, this mentally of "it's just a flu" is very concerning. It's a highly infectious virus with no vaccine and treatments that are currently being tested. Healthy people please think beyond yourself. If you get sick and feel like you just have the sniffles, then go out in public and spread this crap around.... You are part of the problem. Forgive my tone, I am one of the high risk individuals (cancer patient), I really like living and am just trying to survive.

Technology not a flu. But it’s not nearly as serious as it’s being made out to be by the media and doomsayers.

12
Buce-Nudo 12 points ago

That's the message I see here regularly and that's the kind of message I have posted. I haven't seen people here saying that the disease itself is a hoax. That's the same angle that climate alarmists use to dismiss people who don't think the sky is falling.

Yes, be socially cautious, wash your hands, and don't cough on old people. No, don't live in a bubble, try to shift blame to Trump or split his supporters up when this is China's fuck-up, plain and simple.

18
LibsOnSuicideWatch 18 points ago (edited)

It's twice as deadly and way more infectious.

No, it has a 98% survival rate. It is overblown by the media because it hurts the economy. The elite want this to try sabotaging Trump in the election by trying to ruin the economy with this overreacting to the coronavirus. In 2017, influenza and pneumonia claimed 56,000 lives. Coronavirus hasn't gotten near that. It is not dangerous.

The Spanish flu was so bad that middle age healthy people (that ended up surviving, mind) would turn purple from oxygen loss and get sores from bursting vessels in their face. ... You heard about anything that bad? lol This is all just so ridiculous.

I don't understand why this is so hard for people. Yes, it's serious in that we have a really nasty cold going around that very well could take out your old grandma. Take that seriously, of course. No, it's not so serious that it makes sense that some people are having their lives completely upturned. Like I know people that will probably end up homeless because of this.

Some people can't figure out that "wash your damn hands" isn't anyone acknowledging anything and is just fucking common sense in any cold/flu season.

Martial law inbound

I believe Trump is the one who would be in charge if that happened. They do not want him to have unfiltered power over this country or it's game over for them. They also would want to wait until they get a shill in the White House before having someone try declaring martial law. We're safe for now, but we have to be as vigilant this election as we were in 2016.

The best infectious diseases researcher in the World, Didier Raoult from France, today confirmed the cure successfully tested in many Chinese hospitals for the past two weeks works (link to the specific part of the video with the most important slide at the bottom of the screen) : https://youtu.be/n4J8kydOvbc?t=927

Pdf file with the same slide at the bottom :

https://www.mediterranee-infection.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/COVID-19.pdf

The bottom slide compares the detection rate of coronavirus from day 0 (J0) to day 6 (J6) in three categories of patients :

  • untreated (non traite)

  • plaquenil (a commercial name for Hydroxychloroquine)

  • plaquenil combined with azithromycin (AZT)

Untreated after 6 days : 85% of the patients still infected.

Plaquenil combined with azithromycin after 6 days : 5% of the patients still infected

Hydrochloroquine costs 4 euros, azithromycin costs 8 euros.

Major hospitals in Paris refuse to test chloroquine because Big Pharma ordered them to only test very costly molecules. Corrupt media have been downplaying the potential of chloroquine for weeks as well.

The scientist in the video is Didier Raoult, the best infectious diseases researcher in the World. He is the director of IHU Mediterranee Infection, a big research lab in the biggest hospital in Marseille, France's 2nd largest city. He discovered ten viruses, and invented two new molecules against infectious diseases.

You can check his credentials on the following site :

http://www.expertscape.com

Type "communicable diseases" in the search box, click on "Go", then on the following page click on "Show Experts". On the next page look at the "Expert" column to the right : his name is at the top.

Type "infectious diseases" : same result. He is at the top.

Chloroquine successful in Australia as well :

An Effective Treatment for Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Presented by: James M. Todaro, MD (Columbia MD, [email protected]) and Gregory J. Rigano, Esq. ([email protected])

In consultation with Stanford University School of Medicine, UAB School of Medicine and National Academy of Sciences researchers.

March 13, 2020

Summary

Recent guidelines from South Korea and China report that chloroquine is an effective antiviral therapeutic treatment against Coronavirus Disease 2019. Use of chloroquine (tablets) is showing favorable outcomes in humans infected with Coronavirus including faster time to recovery and shorter hospital stay. US CDC research shows that chloroquine also has strong potential as a prophylactic (preventative) measure against coronavirus in the lab, while we wait for a vaccine to be developed. Chloroquine is an inexpensive, globally available drug that has been in widespread human use since 1945 against malaria, autoimmune and various other conditions.

This Coronavirus shit is getting scary! My younger sisters school has been cancelled for 3 weeks due to this. I went to the grocery store to pick up some ingredients and there was hardly any staple items (or cookies and baked desserts) left. And I work at a retail pharmacy and there’s been no hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, bleach wipes, peroxide or even thermometers left! God bless the people supplying the stores who continue to stay open and for goodness sakes god bless the people who work at the stores!

In the US:

-80 have died from corona

-12000 from the last global pandemic (h1n1)

-25000 average flu season

-60000+ bad flu season

Gimme a break, don’t be part of the low information crowd. Are we gonna quarantine the entire country for 4 months every time the flu is bad?... or everyone over 65 every single year Nov-Feb? Of course not, it’s ridiculous. Young / healthy people have no reason to be concerned... old people should take precautions. That’s it... the chicken little crowd is out of control.

2
deplorableforlife 2 points ago

80 have died because it hasn't spread yet. If it spreads uncontrolled hundreds of thousands will die. Listen to the pres. Stop the spread. If we don't take it seriously and it spreads He's going to lose the election. If 15% of seniors die chances aren't looking too good in swing states.

4
Sumarongi 4 points ago

Chicken Little is the perfect analogy.

3
wrathmont 3 points ago

I’m agnostic on this, but let’s go with it. What’s the thinking as to why this isn’t like China or Italy? Lower elderly populous? Measures taken are working? Just curious, I’m trying to stop switching between freaking out and not being worried because it changes every few hours, it feels like.

3
marvelwall 3 points ago (edited)

my opinion on this. China and Italy do have a huge elderly population, they make up a large part of the populace. that is why the death rate is so incredibly high in those countries, a lot of their elderly’s bodies just could not handle the virus.

as they’ve said, 60+ age range need to be careful and stay home - this age range because as your get older your body’s immune system is not what it once was (this doesn’t mean everyone in their 60’s, 70’s, 80’s+ have terrible immune systems) but it’s just part of the aging process. a majority of the deaths in the US have been 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s - a lot in the 80’s age range. without sounding harsh.. your body is old in your 80’s and 90’s, real old, it just has a harder time fighting diseases (not just corona) a cold could be detrimental in the right circumstances.

the reason they want everyone to not go out into public and stay home as much as possible is to stop the spread. if people distance themselves from each other, avoid physical contact, avoid going out into public too much, the disease will not be able to spread from host to host. they’re not saying all these steps can eradicate the disease, with what is known, a vaccine is needed for that, but it can slow the rate in which it’s spreading and make this far easier to contain. that’s why it’s alarming, how quickly it is spreading and just the unknowns of it still.

but! they are understanding more and more about the disease with each passing day, they precautions they are taking are to help slow this spreading (and SHOULD be followed by everyone, it’s just common sense! you wouldn’t willingly walk into a room full of people you know are highly contagious and just sit down in the middle of them, shaking hands with them, hugging them, etc.. essentially what they’re trying to say. you don’t know who has it or how many have it, so to be safe, stop going into public places with exception of grocery for essentials food and toiletries so we stop spreading it so much)

they aren’t trying to scare everyone, they just want us to be aware and make wise-decisions. it may seem like they are being drastic, but sometimes situations call for drastic measures to prevent even more drastic results. basically, all the measures are being put into place to nip this in the bud before it grows into something that is catastrophic.

so, wash your hands, don’t touch your face; if you sneeze or cough cover your nose and mouth with your (they say elbow) but use your shirt - stop the spray cone and it all stays within your shirt, stay at least 3 feet away from people when you are in public, and just stay home as much as possible. this is an odd and worrying situation because it’s something we’ve never dealt with before - but vaccines are already people tested on people (as of yesterday!) South Korea found promising results with malaria tablets that seems to lessen the symptoms and seems it even works preventatively!

as my state’s governor says at every briefing every day, WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS just follow the safety measures, check on your elderly neighbors, and if you believe in this sort of thing: pray

Does anyone feel like they already had the coronavirus? I feel like a lot of people where I live already had it in January / February.

2
tcriv 2 points ago

I suspect that I had it a few months ago. I had what I thought was a super nasty cold. Sore throat so bad I physically couldn’t speak, fever, fatigue, runny nose all that. Lasted about 7-10 days or so.

I never get sick so it was pretty damn weird. My mother wound up with the same shit but we were all good to go in no time.

wouldn’t be surprised if that whole thing was cv lol. lotta people i know wound up pretty sick around that time.

3
thisisatestof2 3 points ago

Same here in CT. Plenty of people I know got sick, myself included, in early-Mid January time frame. Cold or Flu like symptoms that lasted a few days than began to subside after a week or so.

7
marvelwall 7 points ago

yup. weekend after Christmas, woke up with a slightly runny nose and a headache. throat kind of started getting itchy. lasted two days and went away.

then, woke up one morning with severe breathing pain, couldn’t hardly take a deep breath without it feeling like I had just let go from holding my breath. then the dry cough started, and then the fever hit. highest I ran was almost 103 I think, had a fever for almost a week straight. I was absolutely exhausted, energy was shot. the exhaustion was worse than all the other symptoms I had.

then, I got better after about a week. cough lasted for another month though. breathing still hurts every once in a while too. I have some friends who were just as sick as me at the same time and they too, think they had it.

weird stuff, man.

7
PAIN_TRAIN_69 7 points ago

Same here. You are the first person to say what I have been saying for months. This shit has been here for a lot longer than they are telling people. China ran flights on and out for a month without a whisper while this was spreading.

9
Opinionated_Ocelot 9 points ago

Yes. I'm 26 and got the flu during Christmas. Fever of 103.5. Severe coughing. Extreme chills. I was basically bedridden for half a week. Pretty sure it became pneumonia or at least bronchitis. Cough lasted nearly 2 months and I now have a wheeze if I laugh hard, so that's new.

I don't typically get sick other than a mild cold/occasional sore throat. I have not been that sick since I was 4 or 5. Almost everyone in my close family was also affected this year. The only ones who were not were, miraculously, my wife and my dad. My wife now has what seems to be bronchitis. She's doing fine, but she also does not get that type of sickness. She traveled last month. I'm thinking she was asymptomatic and it turned into bronchitis.

Just my two cents!

8
Averon 8 points ago

At the start of February something started going around the office, I didn't catch it until mid February. I felt a bit off that Friday, then on Saturday I got chills and fever that lasted until late Sunday afternoon with not being able to sleep at all and my heart felt like it was beating a bit harder than usual the entire time. I also had coughing, but no sinus issues or runny nose at all and no soar throat, just coughing. The coughing lasted a week or two then I was over it.

I didn't go to the doctor since this was maybe a week before I had even heard of the novel Corona virus. I just stayed home and increased my dosage of supplements to the recommended dose on the bottles for a few days(Usually I just take half of what it says on the bottle since that makes it last twice as long)

7
mercynurse 7 points ago

I think I may have had it.

13
NotaRussian_Bot 13 points ago

New england, same here. Almost everyone I know was sickish like this start of the year. Medium fever and sick myself. stayed around 100f and flu like. Which I never get, only had the flu twice in my life apparently.

11
MAGA_MEXICAN_CHILI 11 points ago

So, when this virus hit...I found it odd for myself and my parents.

I had a low grade fever for 8 days (99f -102f), heavy coughing, nasal clog...you name it. Since I'm a asthmatic I went to the doctor the first day of symptoms and got my medication. However once the fever broke I felt instantly better and shortly 3 days afterwards my mom had what I got. She tested negative for all Flu Viruses (as the doctor though it was the flu) was given antibiotic for pneumonia and a steroid to combat the inflation that was in her lungs. It took her until end of October to recover fully. The same thing with my dad in 2 weeks came down with the exact same thing minus pneumonia. His fever was also short (lasting 4 days).

Only thing we did was, kept the house clean, took lots of vitamins, soup, and rest.

The thing was this happen late September-early November. Now reports are coming out that the Wuhan Flu started around Late September and the infection rate didn't explode until December. Makes me wonder exactly for how long did China know there was a epidemic on their hands? How stupid were they to believe they could keep it under wraps for so long?

6
jubale 6 points ago

Or you had a similar disease from a different virus. These are not very widespread but still exist.

2
MAGA_MEXICAN_CHILI 2 points ago

True, though honestly I dont buy the real story. This virus has been in the wild for a bit. We know they were tinkering it since 2014....whats there to say it didn't break out early and we've had a few cases in the wild. This is of course is speculation.

9
Stukov 9 points ago

Ive been saying this for ages. The spike in flu deaths this year was actually coronovirus. It has been in the US since before January but it peaked after the holiday.

I'm being tested tomorrow morning and I will be able to confirm some symptoms for mild cases if I am confirmed (if I don't get a false negative) after a few days.

4
mountainarrowhead 4 points ago

Why/How are you getting tested? Do you have symptoms or have been in contact with an infected person?

9
dark_webdev 9 points ago

That might not be the case. As Trump has said, only 1-2% of those tested with symptoms in America have had the virus. Which is far lower compared to the 4% in South Korea. The rest had the normal flu

3
Niq000 3 points ago

I know that they did test someone in my office for the flu, and it was negative.

From my own experience, it was never bad enough to justify even going to the doctor. I can only describe it as it felt like I was getting the regular flu, but it would oscillate between 30-60% of the magnitude of the regular flu. A couple days at 30% magnitude, then 60% for a day and I would think the next day it was finally going to sink its teeth in, but then you wake up the next day back to 30% for a few more days.

3
rubberbiscuit 3 points ago

Interesting. I have been feeling like this for the past 4 or 5 days. Only I'd say maybe 20% of the flu. Yesterday felt about 40% of the flu. Today almost back to 100% healthy. Actually mine feels more like 30-40% of mono which I had 25 years ago. I think I'm going to get tested tomorrow just to be sure. I really don't want to get tested because I think I'm fine but probably is the best thing to do for society.

2
Niq000 2 points ago

Yeah, I feel the same. The normal flu went around, and my wife/kids got it, and I was all proud that I dodged it. Then my whole office got sick with this second "flu", that wasn't really like a normal flu, it was much milder and never really set in, but also lasted a few weeks.

Currently combined population roughly 324 million 61,013 confirmed cases 2733 deaths 4.48% mortality rate

USA

Current population roughly 327 million 4552 confirmed cases 85 deaths 1.86% mortality rate

New York City population Density= 27,751/sq mi

Italy population Density = 532/sq mi

First case of Corona detected in New York City on March 1st. 15 days later = 5 deaths and 613 confirmed cases (death rate = 0.8%) March 8th was when they reached 100 confirmed cases. It has been 7 days since.

7 days after Italy had their first 100 cases, they were up to 1700 infected.:

So, even though Italy's population density is less than 2% that of New York City, Italy's infection rate is still higher?

As of Feb 26, Italy had 470 positive cases out of 9,462 tested.

If Italy had ~15,500 (https://www.statista.com/chart/21099/coronavirus-in-italy/) infected in 30 days, then New York City should have ~775,000 infected and ~60k dead in 30 days due to their population density. If they don't have that much by April 1st, then they are doing better than Italy has done.

The death rate is already certainly much better (mainly because the population is not as old).

Stop freaking out, and stop letting politicians politicize this to tank the economy because they think it will help them come November.

I look at this way: a decade-plus of non-stop vaccinations and shots from Uncle Sam when I was in uniform for various things like Tick-Borne Encephalitis, Anthrax, Smallpox, and many other diseases and things across the planet means that Coronachan is either going to straight-up murder me or I'll become the new Typhoid Mary, spreading Corona virus everywhere I go until I'm the last living human on the planet.
I've lived a full life, I'll be good either way.
