As you can see, Win is back up.

At 6:44am EST, Win's primary host terminated our services.

We've switched to a different provider and are pursuing long term solutions.

There is no scenario where we will be bullied into shutting down, we are here for the long haul.

It is more important than ever that you share The Donald with all the Trump supporters in your life.

Who was the primary host? If I have servers with them, I will terminate.

Question from non-network guy. What would it take to host our own site?

213
MyopicVitriol 213 points ago +213 / -0

Lease rackspace in a datacenter. Place your servers in said rackspace. Pay for bandwidth.

What we need is for the free speech movement to start its own datacenters.

Ddos is so easy now, though. A good, strong strong server is expensive and you have to know what you are doing (or your host does) to stop the continous attacks. People suck sometimes.

8
BirthHole 8 points ago +8 / -0

The problem isnt not having enough money, the issue is dedication.

Heres a basic example: let's take some dude starting a project based on freedom of speech and sharing knowledge freely. Everyone is always for that - except the people who want to control what you hear.

These folks wait for an opportunity to purchase the dudes project and take over.

Like what happened to Fox. If someone started a free speech server, we gotta keep it that way and resist the take-over attempts from the same people who control media, hollywood, and the DNC.

64
Weremoose 64 points ago +64 / -0

Even then, the datacenter might be able to boot you depending on the contract.

As much as I hate Bezos, we have 70+ server instances running on AWS, without a hiccup... ever... a few of those sites definitely piss leftists off. We've fielded complaints from the lunatic left, and AWS support has always maintained that they are a delivery network, and have nothing to do with content. If it breaks no US law, they're out of it. (which surprised me).

AWS may not be a good option for TD, but its worked for us for years... and worked very well. we push content near the edge via the AWS CDN, with no problem at all, with DDOS protection etc...

I can't help thinking that cloudflare is a potential problem down the road... (given their history), perhaps putting the primary host up on PRQ isn't a bad idea either...

Just thinking out loud...

45
DoesItWorkAlready 45 points ago +46 / -1

The problem with AWS is one would be very tempted to use AWS specific services, which can save you a ton of time (e.g. SQS, SNS, CloudWatch etc).

Those services are non-portable. Which is okay if you are a corporation, it's just stickiness and AWS probably does it cheaper than anyone else anyways, and slow migration is still an option for corporations.

But non-portable IS a censorship problem. A huge one. There's no "slow migration" when you are cut off at 6:44 am without notice.

I 100% back your opinion. I would choose AWS... fast, secure, inexpensive. I would choose no other.

21
Choctaw 21 points ago +24 / -3 (edited)

I agree, used AWS for years as an engineer. I think Bezos is a moron but the AWS service is amazing, I still use them for myself and for my side business. The only time I recall a problem is when an AWS tech killed east coast S3 with a config change and made life a little interesting for a few hours for a lot of people. Images are stored there, so if you want to spin up an instance from a golden image.....well you see how that works.

Another part of this equation is that cloudfront is a CDN network and has DDOS protection

It seems like they try to keep Amazon politically neutral. They have have both pro and negative Trump documentaries on Prime Video

2
pede-o-saurus 2 points ago +2 / -0

Seriously this. AWS has terrific hosting w/ DDOS protection, it serves enterprises, it's politically neutral (hosts campaign infrastructure for both parties), and it has a lot to lose by being perceived as partisan. It's just more professional. But definitely keep it portable Just In Case.

Then use a lot of data centers, and make them all serve a little bit each. Distributed architecture over data centers. If one falls, other keep going.
Make "datacenters" and "hosts" a commodity where you don't really care which one it's on.
And then you front it all with another thing which can serve a static page/content if the back hosts somehow all get shut down.

19
Weremoose 19 points ago +19 / -0

Now there's a good idea. Throw some overseas in places like India, Switzerland and Japan which are going to let you do pretty much whatever you want.

I would keep the business logic and data layer on the robust network... and then set up presentation layer hosts all over the place... then just round Robbin to them... let them load balance via DNS. The only real persistent data is the login.. and that can be kept at the data layer anyway, so session information can be transient.... the site is very simple... splitting it across tiers would solve a world of issues.

1

How much bandwidth would we need for this?

I'm looking at rack space and it's like 400 /mo if that's it - we got this.

1
Titanium 1 point ago +1 / -0

To host the site... almost nothing.

To handle DDOS yourself... good luck if you don't have at least a few hundred gbps and the equipment to filter traffic at that rate.

1
MyopicVitriol 1 point ago +1 / -0 (edited)

That depends entirely on how much traffic your site generates. If you co/locate in a decent datacenter they should have the bandwidth you need available to sell you. Otherwise you have to pay for backhaul service from a provider like L3.

1
LeeKuanYewTheGreat 1 point ago +1 / -0

I may very well make this my life's mission.

1
Jsa9 1 point ago +1 / -0

There's a bunch of ways to do it. If you want to run a website out of your house for example, all you'd need is a virtual machine running web hosting software. Windows Server offers this in IIS, or you can host your own Wordpress site. Then you'd want to forward ports on your firewall. And then, you'd need to make sure you have a static IP with your ISP, or look into configuring Dynamic DNS which some DNS providers offer. DNS is what you'd use to map www.domain.com to your IP address, which is why you don't want it to change if possible.

I actually do run a web server from my shop serving web site for my business on a Libre SBC, but I seriously doubt that this is a solution to a web site with as much traffic as .win

1
SnowflakeJuice 1 point ago +1 / -0

Theoretically it is the same thing, you would just need a better server, and more bandwidth.

0
Fauxcahantos 0 points ago +1 / -1

this is not going to work for something that will get as much traffic at .win because there is no way your provider like comcast is going to be enough.

56

cloudflare wiped out 8chan in one stroke.

51
acceptable_volume 51 points ago +51 / -0

Sort-of.

People hate 8chan, and it's constantly being DDoSed. Cloudflare is a proxy that saves bandwidth and protects against DDoS. Cloudflare also serves as the public face so that people can't tell who you are actually hosting with.

So, when Cloudflare terminates them, or Stormfront, etc., then the "Digital Justice Warriors" go to town taking it out. You can rack up tens of thousands in bandwidth bills in a month trying to fight botnets.

39
nothingberg 39 points ago +39 / -0

DDOSing is illegal. Why isn't the FBI looking into every instance of ddosing

In the United States, the people that take part in DDoS attacks run the risk of being charged with legal offenses at the federal level, both criminally and civilly. The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) is the applicable law (18 U.S.C. §1030). For a person to violate the CFAA, he has to intentionally cause damages to a computer system part of interstate or foreign commerce (18 U.S.C. § 1030(a)(5)(A)) (http://www.technicallylegal.org/the-legality-of-denial-of-service-attacks/, 2010). Attempted DDoS attacks may also be prosecuted (http://users.atw.hu/denialofservice/ch08lev1sec2.html).

Private parties that play the role of an intermediary along the vector of DDoS attack, such as ISPs, may also press civil charges to recoup their financial losses on the grounds of a violation of the “terms of service” agreement, which, by the way, has validity tantamount to a legal contract. Serious violations may lead to a lawsuit for breach of contract and even trespass to chattels

(http://www.technicallylegal.org/the-legality-of-denial-of-service-attacks/, 2010).

Seeing the serious statutory measures, there is no wonder that Facebook decided to terminate groups that call for participation in DDoS attacks (http://www.technicallylegal.org/the-legality-of-denial-of-service-attacks/, 2010).

It's resource intensive to track down DDOS attacks and it's a petty crime. It's a cost benefit thing. Most of the computers used in DDOS attacks belong to little old ladies who don't know the Dell they got from their grandson in 2005 is a node on a Chinese controlled headless bot network.

Who even gave a shit about Stormfront. Most people had never heard of that site or that guy Richard Spencer before the left professed their love for promoting them. 1000 people saying some stupid shit in the back alley of the Internet? Who cares.

12
Techrev 12 points ago +13 / -1

No sort of about it. Botnets are the biggest enemy of freedom out there right now. The fact that people are forced to do business with shitholes like cloudflare because of it is a total sham. I can't imagine that Cloudflare doesn't own some of those botnets in the background. Before them, we could just host things on PCs out of our houses without much fear. Not that I don't do that, but if it gets past a certain point, you're fucked.

What you are describing is the primary problem. The rest is easy to overcome.

37
Cup_O_Covfefe 37 points ago +37 / -0

Cloudflare has effectively wiped several websites off the net by refusing to provide services to them.

DDOS is a constant tactic employed by the left's Cheeto-Finger Brigade.

28
Techrev 28 points ago +28 / -0

A lot of people don't seem to get this. This is planned, they developed this as a means to control the internet. Cloudflare doesn't have much competition - a monopoly. A monopoly that decides what content and platforms can exist, and which ones can't. It's severely broken.

15
Cup_O_Covfefe 15 points ago +15 / -0

I know people don't want to mention the sites and bloggers who Shall Not Be Named but the establishment proved their model for wiping people off the internet.

All they have to do now is keep marching the Overton Window to the center. If you complain you must be a Nazi.

12
Techrev 12 points ago +12 / -0 (edited)

I'm more than convinced that when Anonymous was going, the LOICs were the testing grounds for the whole thing. The only thing we disagree on is the Overton Window. It needs to swing back, but that pendulum has to smash a few things of consequence as it swings back. I mean, that's the issue, right? The Left know exactly how to manipulate a free society into hanging itself. But, we need to break some stuff at the same time. Botnets have to be one of those things.

*one of the best ways I can think of to do that would be to make available, cheaply, huge amounts of bandwidth cheaply to individuals. Freedom is freedom. If everyone had the resources of a small hosting facility, we'd see things break open again.

The following are all alternatives to cloudflare: Incapsula, Imperva, Akamai, CDNetworks, AWS, Fastly, Limelight Networks, EdgeCast, SwiftServe, MaxCDN and Sucuri.

0
Techrev 0 points ago +1 / -1

11 companies... Not a lot, and Cloudflare is the biggest. Again, even if you're right and all 11 of those companies are equally good, it's not too far off a concept that all 11 would agree on the same course of action. It's still a very narrow gateway.

2
JamesSunderland 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, they shut down "politically inconvenient" sites whenever they want. Any other company that does ddos protection?

66
RogueLogix 66 points ago +66 / -0

TD.win appears to still be routed through cloudlfare, which is fine considering they do caching and DDOS protection, not actual website hosting.

39

6
JerryJerryJerry 6 points ago +8 / -2

Ah, but just as a bakery cannot discriminate in who they do a regular transaction with, i.e. sell a plain cake, but they used to be free to refuse to perform custom work contrary to their religion, so is hosting a site a "regular transaction," or custom? This is both moot and devil's advocacy, as when making the can-not-discriminate-against-for-your-preferences list, they included religious and sexual, but forgot the arguably more important political.

Cloudflare is a level one provider and likely has nothing to do with the site's hosting.

Assuming it was the host that yanked it of course.

I know Cloudflare has been up to some fuckery before with other sites DNS records getting yanked or blocked but that would have been easy for the Admins to work around.

No way that much downtime was due to our level one DNS.

1
Defender110 1 point ago +1 / -0

Cloudflare is trying to move down the stack with their AWS Lambda-like edge services. Before too much longer, you'll be able to build a site like this exclusively on their infrastructure.

I don't think that is the solution, we would be better demanding they host us, this "cancel culture" is not where we want to go, we want to end the censorship.

7
JwPATX 7 points ago +8 / -1

That’s retarded. If an entity is actively working against you, and there are other options, why should you continue to support it? It’s not cancel culture to pull your own money out of something that’s actively working to your detriment. Cancel culture is about silencing dissenting point of views or trying to ruin someone’s business for wrongthink, which has nothing to do with this, except for the fact that they literally tried to cancel us. If it happens to ruin their business to have everyone here give their money to someone without a political axe to grind, then maybe they should have thought of that prior to terminating service.

I'll explain it as if to a 5 year old. A host is the computer where the website lives. Cloudflare are the security guards who prevent a mob of protestors with rocks and weapons from getting to where .win "lives". Our host kicked us out of our home and we had to find a new home to live in. Cloudflare is still our anti-mob security guards.

It's tiring, and I have offered every time and been ignored. I'll try again and see if maybe we can get you to stop using these controlled bullshit services.

I actually own and operate datacenters (building, fiber, etc) and while we don't offer colo/webhosting as a service, I am more than happy to offer something specifically for a project as important as this. Throwing a few machines up in a rack on a spare dedicated IP wouldn't be that big of a deal.

At least the website would be on dedicated resources that would likely be massive overkill.

There could be reasons why they don't take payments (corruptable/theft/reporting/etc), but I'm not asking for any money for anything I'd offer. Why do you think I want to control it? I don't want anything to do with running the site/moderating/etc. I simply want to ensure there is a reliable and stable hardware available so if TD fails, it wasn't because of de-platforming.

I would appreciate not being openly doxxed, but I also don't really care since my customers are politically agnostic/doesn't effect my business. Maybe that is your goal, though? Try and scare anyone away that would attempt to not have this place hosted on some shitty shared GoDaddy server--I can't otherwise understand the motivation behind your message.

You could simply ask me what my motivation for saying this is. I say this because I've seen it before and I'm usually right. It's nice to think someone would just be able to host it for free with no repercussions, but there is always a cost. There is no free lunch. I would literally donate $1,000 for us to get our own independent service. Not sure how much it actually costs but dear god how much could it be? We can handle it.

7
usmc35 7 points ago +7 / -0

That is very nice of you, but what I am offering is free. Just something to stop the hopscotch and worry. Really the only cost I have would be in hardware. I have plenty of it that is massively overpowered for a website but not quite to spec needed for what we resell. The fiber and peering all exists already for business ops, throwing up a website on it wouldn't even be noticeable.

1
Cyer6 1 point ago +2 / -1

This place is a great home-base or FOB. I saw some comments over on T_D today about some not wanting to come over here because it signals defeat and retreat to the left at reddit. T_D is dead and will never be the same but The Win can be just as powerful. The memes, activity and engagement here since the T_D died compares to how the old sub was a few years ago. I think it's encouraging and all that aside, remember, they are so afraid of this place right now that they thought it necessary to shut it down.

7

7

Seriously, this should be a major issue and talking point for the Republican party in DC. Simply supporting the US President is like an extreme act or unforgivable, but these leftists shutting down free speech are the radical and filled with hate. They'll be the same ones who are shocked on election day, thinking that Trump has no support just because they silenced his supporters online.

which is fine, but IMO a P2P web host setup is far better, impervious to DDoS takedowns along with no fear of Host terminating.

18
usmc35 18 points ago +18 / -0

it could be better (and probably specifically is for this), but unfortunately not as widely used/common/little more advanced setup and maintenance. depending on the end user functionality, may also just be one more barrier to entry on a website that is already facing an uphill battle to gain traction.

it isn't impervious, it is resilient. have to be careful with that.

Liquidweb is good for managed hosting. I'd also look into a CDN like Stackpath. I know CloudFlare has CDN options but maybe not so good to place all eggs in one basket.

I don't know what all is involved in vetting moderators, but it's a whole other level of vetting required if you're going to take someone up on an offer to host the physical server hardware in their data center. I wouldn't blame the admins for having no interest in that whatsoever.

1
1776er 1 point ago +2 / -1

Fair point but I think at this point it might be worth gambling on someone rather than continuing with these biased hosts

2
Frosty 2 points ago +2 / -0 (edited)

It's at least worth publicly investigating/making a statement on. The admins keep their cards close to their chest, understandably; our enemies have endless means. But they should make a public statement about offers for help and such. I know yall are reading this.

I'm personally not totally convinced about the long term efficacy of this board or if there may be a hidden agenda (always is) without a public announcement of ties to the Trump campaign to the admins.

3
usmc35 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think you're right and this is a good point. I'm willing to alleviate those concerns (privately to the admins) or even just stand-in as a live backup that can be turned on quickly if they need it.

This stuff isn't cheap.. you can have load balancers, and fail over DBs etc, DDOS prevention, caching, etc.. but at some point you are beholding to a domain name, end point and a few of the big web hosts. The bigger this site gets the more infrastructure, maintenance, backups, indexing, monitoring it takes..

1
Chopblock 1 point ago +1 / -0

I suggest creating a ‘static’ or archive conversion monthly, and having it ready to deploy as something like a docker image, waiting unseen at a series of separate URLs. No interactivity, JavaScript nodes, apis, or fancy backend. Just serves up plain text html pages of the site as it was on a certain date (or date range).

Flip the switch when needed and notify via Twitter, Gab, 8kun, discord, etc. The DNS registry and servers would be relatively cheap, but the access to the library of information would be priceless during the six weeks leading up to election, when we could go through a ‘burner server’ every week, activating each in turn as the last gets DDOSed/blocked/hacked etc.

SordidPontification 1 point ago +1 / -0

Hey, whatever works. I just figure for most people, it's easier to click on something and go from there.

Another alternative that might require fewer steps (requires bind-tools):

dig a thedonald.win dig -x <ip address>

(or alternatively using whois to see who owns/leases the IP block)

JustHereForTheSalmon 6 points ago +6 / -0

Global payment processors obviously benefit from globalism.

I wish crypto could shake the investors off so we can use it as it was intended: unstoppable currency.

4
DontSendInTheClowns 4 points ago +4 / -0

To me I see crypto as a push to the federation credit system. Same game with new pieces. Plus, where nothing was backed up by anything physical to start, is now nothing physical at all... sounds like a pencil whipping fantasy.

..but I'm old and retarded.. unable to wrap my monkey brain around a lot of life... so there is that.

5
BigLeagueComics 5 points ago +5 / -0

I wonder if bitcoin or some other cryptocurrency could be the solution to the financing problem.

I know they’ve become a playground for speculators but they were created to be a censorship resistant exchange medium...

2
dudeduderson 2 points ago +2 / -0

There are tons of stablecoins pegged to the dollar. No need to worry about price fluctuation

2
SordidPontification 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't think so. My skepticism is similar to what u/DontSendInTheClowns has already posted, so I won't repeat it here since I'm not savvy to the financial implications.

However, from a purely technical standpoint, I feel that crypto is a solution looking for a problem. Bitcoin has long had a potential 50%+1 takeover that's a very real threat to any system that relies on it for exchange, and while others like Monero promise workable solutions that avoid these shortcomings, it still doesn't address the ultimate reality with cryptocurrency use. Eventually, it has to be transferred into real world cash, and a sufficiently capable adversary could lift the veil of anonymity on transactions based on statistical analysis, even for currencies like Monero that claim to have "fully anonymous" transactions.

It's similar to the idea that using a VPN will disguise your traffic. While true, there's at least one paper I'm aware of off the top of my head that demonstrates how traffic analysis can determine with surprising accuracy the type of traffic flowing over an encrypted connection.

There's no reason to assume the same couldn't be adapted for crypto.

Don't forget also that blockchain was originally devised as a distributed ledger. It was less about anonymity and more about distributed transactions tracking.

2
Perhelion 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep. The goal is DEPERSONIFICATION. Say that three times fast

29

Hopefully our mods are familiar with what Gab has had to endure. Look at what Gab had to deal with - I guarantee T_D will hit the same obstacles. Mods, if you haven't already, get in touch with Andrew Torba at Gab and see what they've done to overcome Libtard Intolerance. Don't waste your time by going into this blind. Everything that happened to Gab WILL HAPPEN TO T_D.

13
sickofaltspin 13 points ago +15 / -2

Wait, hear me out, is it possible it was because they were undersold and a sudden surge of traffic in the past week from hundreds of thousands of users meant they needed a more expensive dedicated solution?

There are reasons other than "I don't support that site" to terminate a site.

I'm somewhat conflicted that the admins here are so reluctant to accept help from the community.

6
okcommie 6 points ago +6 / -0

I was wondering the same thing. I have seen hosting plans that are oversold where they will cancel you if you drive real load and start costing them money or cause load problems.

The cynical part of me doesn't believe it, but I want to consider every possibility.

3
DontSendInTheClowns 3 points ago +3 / -0

These are all reasonable questions to ask imo. I still think the results are the same.

2
Razeontherock 2 points ago +3 / -1

They don't need our help financially, they've got it covered. They request that if you want to support them, donate to DJT.

I'm not referring to financial support - they are not very receptive to highly skilled users that are offering technical knowledge and skill. This site should, at this point, as an example, be sharded across numerous providers to avoid a single point of failure.

Could it have been the verbiage over the message? Lot's of people think these kinds of things are not helpful.. being a downer at the party because you are trying to not get fucked over later.. that sort of thing. I don't agree with that view but I respect it's merits.

Criminal FTC investigation now. There should be arrests.

It was probably some Obummer hold-over in the FTC who ordered it.

If i had the money i would buy an ISP

30
Brownwaterboys 30 points ago +30 / -0

Thats what im talking about. We need to start doing our own stuff. They attack ISP, and credit card companies when liberals dont get their way. We need our own ISP to stop this

15
BeefyBelisarius 15 points ago +15 / -0

We need our own explicitly right wing bank or credit union to handle all the payment processing and financing, too.

The mods didn't say why the host terminated service to td.win. The host might not have even given a specific motivation. There is a thread saying that a Biden video meme was what caused the web host to terminate service, but it's not from a mod and it could be a joke. Some people on td.win Discord were talking about a DMCA, which could have been related to the video.

Regardless, we know the leftards will keep using every excuse to get us shutdown by service providers.

If they didn't do it this time, the leftards probably used or will eventually use screenshots of racist threads started by these same leftards and sent or will send them to service providers in order to get us shutdown.

Six days ago, a thread only titled "kill n**gers" was posted, and it's still visible. There are no upvotes for this thread, but we can't downvote it either (it probably doesn't make a difference anyway because the screenshot can be altered to show a high number of upvotes, or can simply cut out the number of upvotes. And even though the dozen or so comments on that thread are all negative towards the OP and the content of such a thread, comments can be photoshopped or just cut out of the screenshot.

Cuck service providers would probably terminate service just by seeing a screenshot of that post title (and others like it), without checking out the actual live page, and/or they wouldn't care about lack of upvotes, or about our comments refuting what the OP (Username "NigRights") posted, especially since the thread was NOT removed to this day, despite several reports being sent to mods, and the user seems not to have been banned (his profile/history says "no comments" & "no submissions," but he's supposed to have "3 post wins", and he still has a profile page on this forum), even though a comment he posted on his own thread (in response to one of the negative replies he received) was deleted.

I know it takes seconds for leftards to take screenshots of threads/comments they post themselves, but we need to be vigilant and, once we see something that is against our rules and/or can obviously get us in trouble, we need to get them and their threads/comments out of this site ASAP.

It would be great if we didn't have to depend on any web host, but we are not as permissive as VOAT or the Chans. If they found a host that won't terminate them, we have to be able to find one too.

ISPs should be under net neutrality regulation so that they can't decide what websites or IP addresses we can access. They are pretty much a monopoly and a market with significant barriers to entry. They have no business deciding how we use our internet traffic.

8
wrongrabbit 8 points ago +8 / -0

Im sure the Trump empire could afford to buy Virgin from Richard Branson, i hear he isn't doing so well lately. Maybe we could crowd fund an ISP. Don are you listening? Buy us an ISP!

4

6
johnbillaby 6 points ago +6 / -0

Net neutrality would have prevented our host from banning us?

1
Anticom1776 1 point ago +1 / -0

Not as it was previously constructed by I'm for expanding the concept of net neutrality to include other tech markets that don't have adequate competition. Basically where they stay neutral and hands off.

2
BillionsAndBillions 2 points ago +2 / -0

The answer is to kill regulation to increase competition, not add regulations on top of monopolies.

1
Anticom1776 1 point ago +1 / -0 (edited)

Could you explain what regulations you could kill to fix this? I don't see it happening. A lot of these controlled markets formed naturally just through savvy business and dominance.

Also this is not something that can be waited out, it's an urgent emergency that needs to be dealt with. Big Tech is censoring conservatives in droves, they're trying to swing elections now, not in the future, they're doing it now.

1
BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

And which congress will pass your conservative speech-protection "net neutrality" regulations, to prevent Big Tech swinging elections, not in the future, but now?

I'll always err on the side of fewer regulations, like our president. I bet you could find thousands of regulations penned by Big Tech lawyers specifically to kill their competition and then sponsored by Big Tech's own pet Democrat legislators. If we get control of the House, maybe we could get a lot of those regulations repealed.

1
Anticom1776 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm all for killing any regulation that allows Big Tech to keep this power grip on the market, but I don't think killing any amount of regulations would fix this issue at this point, they're too strong and embedded. I've been telling people of this problem for a decade and they give me the same lazy response about oh the free market will fix itself, regulations are bad so and so on, but they have no real solution and the problem is getting worse and worse.

I get what you're saying about this current congress probably not being able to get a law passed but just getting on the debate floor would bring a lot of much needed spotlight to the issue and these abusive tech companies. With the spotlight on them they're not as likely to do as much biased censoring.

9
Brucesky420 9 points ago +10 / -1

Absolutely not. It was happening under net neutrality as well

1
Anticom1776 1 point ago +2 / -1

Net neutrality only applied to ISPs. If they tried to do this that would have been a violation of the FCC's net neutrality regulation. Net neutrality meant ISPs kept their hands off our traffic, they had to stay neutral.

1
Capitalism_Fuck_Yeah 1 point ago +2 / -1

No it would not. Actual net neutrality just doesn't allow companies to have lower use high cost lines for priority cost data. Like banning air freight because it discriminates against semi freight.

Lot more to net neutrality and that's just one part.

2
Former_RM2 2 points ago +3 / -1

What's to prevent the other ISPs from blacklisting our ISP? Besides, as soon as Starlink is up, any investment into ISPS will go up in smoke. Elon is about to have the ultimate monopoly and unless you can startup your own rocket company, you can't compete.

Starlink will be priced so aggressively at the start that it will drive every single one of the big time ISPs out of business. Mark my words. Also, it's effectively immune from government regulations and anti-trust laws can't touch it.

CLOUDFLARE did not terminate their account. This is obvious due to the cf-cache-status and cf-ray headers in every response. Cloudflare continues to proxy TD.Win for the time being. Furthermore Cloudflare is not a web host so it would be quick to recover from Cloudflare terminating their account.

2
practicalize 2 points ago +2 / -0

I forgot which tool I used, but I think NameCheap was the host. Other stack analysis here: https://thedonald.win/p/46BjSob/x/c/Fz6VSscL

3
sickofaltspin 3 points ago +3 / -0

That analysis is deeply flawed - for example, it is making claims about content hosted here that are simply linked in every request (e.g. FontAwesome etc) and mixing that up.

2
practicalize 2 points ago +2 / -0

The BuildWith? Yeah, there’s lots of noise. I don’t think any CDN resources like the FA files would be hosted on NameCheap. That sounds like a small-scale resource like this site.

When they cannot silence you they always go to ISP's and tell them to stop and if you make money online they go to credit card companies to try to stop you. They wont stop, thats why we must work more than ever. Keep up the fight Pedes. These pinko commies are born losers, and will die losers, they offer nothing in life but hate, as their souls are filled with hate. They want everyone to be as miserable as themselves. We must do everything to make this website independent of all liberal forces and their influence.

3
weltbild 3 points ago +3 / -0

Pocketnet.app even build a way to bypass DNS with a desktop app, bypassing ISP is probably just the first fight and the last line of defense of the establishment seems to be credit card companies threatened by government action.
