It would be very much better if we could get 51 rather than 50. At 50 the screams and cries for Roberts to step in will be deafening. He won't, but then they'll also blame the SC for their own screwup and weak case. Murkowski--awful. Just awful.
Haven't gotten a satisfactory answer to that myself. Just opinions. 50-50 is motion does not carry. They claim that theoretically Roberts could step in, but the only authority I've heard for the proposition is some talking head saying that some justice did it a couple of times during an impeachment trial in the 1800s.
My guess is it ain't gonna happen. Hell, if Murkowski would get a clue the issue would be moot.
