Healthcare is broken! You need to make a conscious decision to defend yourself and be your own best healthcare advocate to save your life and the lives of your loved ones. You need to fight for healthcare freedom instead of losing your power to the uncaring third parties who make lots of money by keeping you in the dark. Most people are not sick most of the time fortunately, but unfortunately, this does not prepare you to fight for power and control of your own healthcare before it is too late. You need to become "woke" before it is too late! You need power and control over the money so that you are making the decisions instead of the uncaring third parties. You need complete transparency. You need both price transparency and "product transparency." Product transparency, an economics phrase, means among other things "treatment transparency" when it comes to healthcare. Treatment transparency means having a list of all possible treatments for your diagnosis and having the treatment effect for every diagnosis quantified on the outcome measure that is most important to you. For example, if you have stage 4 pancreatic cancer like Alex Trebek of Jeopardy fame, who has publicly stated he is dealing with that cancer, you need a list of treatments, and you need to be provided with the expected net treatment benefit for each treatment at 5 years for example. If you undergo that treatment what will your 5-year overall survival be according to evidence-based medicine? All three steps of evidence-based medicine should be done. This means the final number should be calculated taking into account the medical literature, your physician's experience, and your values and preferences as a patient. Your accountant can help you figure out your net income every year. Similarly, your physician should be able to help you figure out your expected net treatment benefit from every possible medical treatment for your diagnosis. You should end up with a list of treatments with Treatment Scores. By qualifying all the medical studies combined with your physician's experiences, and your values and preferences as a patient regarding all the side effects and side benefits, you should finally have treatment transparency! You should know enough not to choose a chemotherapy that has a Treatment Score of 0 (zero) when there is another treatment that has a treatment score of 20%. Healthcare is so opaque right now, and the medical statistics are so hard to find and understand, that patients often undergo medical treatments with a treatment score of zero and are completely unaware of it. We need to change this by creating understandable transparency so that you can make the best possible decision to save your life. You need healthcare freedom. Healthcare freedom means you have the power to make the decisions concerning your own body. Healthcare freedom also means that there is transparency. Complete transparency of prices up front, and treatment transparency before you have to undergo any medical treatment. In other words, we need to end paternalistic medicine, and we need transparency regarding all medical treatments. We need transparent prices and we need product transparency!
