What did I miss? The rules have already been set in place. 2 days and 24 hours for each side. Why are the Dems getting a 3rd day, setting the defense back until Saturday?

I believe initially it was 24 hours, broken down into 2 days of 12 hours each day. But then Cocaine Mitch changed it to 3 days each, broken down into 8 hours per day.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

You are right, but it is still a compromise forced by the "moderate" Republican senators. This gives the Dims' prime air time rather than forcing them into the late evening/early morning.

Without this compromise the opening statements (edit: opening statements phase for both sides) would have been over after the end of tomorrow.
