Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. a

2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.”

3Surely he will save you

from the fowler’s snare

and from the deadly pestilence.

4He will cover you with his feathers,

and under his wings you will find refuge;

his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5You will not fear the terror of night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

6nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7A thousand may fall at your side,

ten thousand at your right hand,

but it will not come near you.

8You will only observe with your eyes

and see the punishment of the wicked.

9If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”

and you make the Most High your dwelling,

10no harm will overtake you,

no disaster will come near your tent.

__11For he will command his angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways;__

12they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13You will tread on the lion and the cobra;

you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14“Because he b loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;

I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15He will call on me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,

I will deliver him and honor him.

16With long life I will satisfy him

and show him my salvation.”

Thanks for the prayer. The people who won this country are doers. Though I'm not a doer on this level, there is something every one of us can do. Most of the time this will be uncomfortable.

Pray this prayer toward our President

If we post this type of material every Sunday, you can bet others will start to do the same. I’m not sure you’re all ready for the teachings of the Quran, but there would be nothing to stop them from posting their shit all up and down this site.

Making religious posts for the sake of spreading the word isn’t going to add to the political discussion. If we allow this material, we have to allow it all. I don’t know about you, but watching this site become a free for all of religious substance isn’t something I’d like to see.

No, this is ridiculous. This is the same type of reasoning that's being used to convince people that kids aren't allowed to pray in school or wear crosses there. We're not doing that garbage any more.

Christ is welcome here.

ProudAmerican -2 points ago

That may be. Is the Muslim’s god welcome here? They do believe he is greater than our god.

I see Bible quotes posted regularly on reddit TD, but not Koran quotes.

The question is: Would you be ok with it?

I'm a grown-up. People can and will post things I disagree with. Would I like it? No. Me not liking it is not a good enough reason to shut down all religious activity.

If we make it a habit, this site won’t last as a place for political discourse

You could ignore it. I see stuff here all the time that I ignore; don't even click on. Works for me. Try it sometime and see if it works for you.

You know this is never going to happen with the Islam business. You just have a problem with God.

Like it or not, things are going deeper here then just Republican vs Democrat, even deeper than conservative American versus communist.

This is turning into Good vs Evil, and it's going to take real sacrifices to turn things around. People don't make real sacrifices for the sake of a Nation or a race or a collection of amendments to the Constitution or anything else like that.

When times get hard, when things get serious, they turn to God. You're going to have to get used to it.

I don’t have a problem with the concept of god. I have a problem with people who think they’re superior because they have faith. Good vs. evil doesn’t stem from your opinion. Good people exist that don’t believe in any god and bad people exist that are total Bible thumpers.

If you want to isolate yourself based on an opinion of god, go right ahead, but don’t expect your opinion to be welcomed by everyone. This is a political forum, if you want to regularly preach about god, this isn’t the place.

I agree there is a fight between good and evil, but don’t expect your numbers to be big enough to win the fight unless you accept the good people who don’t live their lives through the lens of that which is unknowable. People turn to god when they reach the horizon of their knowledge and ability. At a time when you need every person you can get, running them off with overuse of scriptures isn’t going to help. This is exactly the reason so many moderates can’t consider themselves to be Republicans.

Somebody posting a psalm is not "overuse" of scripture, and if people refuse to join this movement because they find public displays of Christianity distasteful, then they can leave as far as I'm concerned.

Conversely were it to be the case that people like you succeeded in suppressing of marginalizing Christians in this movement, then I'm walking away.

You don't have to believe in God if you don't want to, don't attack me and others for doing so over publicly stating our beliefs, or try to get us to shut up because you find us embarrassing

Christianity is not equivalent to Islam, or any other religion. It is the foundation of Western Civilization and of the United States in particular. Its diminishment coincides with the rise of leftism.

Placing god within every aspect of life is what drove this country to leftism. We have separation of church and state for a reason. If you want to believe, go ahead, but don’t mix that shit with politics.

There aren’t enough Christians to have a large enough Republican base to win. This is why you have been losing the fight until this most recent election. If you want to win, leave your opinion on god at your house or at church. It’s the only way to gain enough moderates to fight back against the left wing progressive socialism that’s taking a foot hold in this country.

"placing God within every aspect of life is what drove this country to leftism"

It's like we're looking at two different realities.

God was always at the center of life in America until the twentieth century. It is the abandonment of God that drives people to leftism, and wherever the left games power they persecute Christians and religion.

I understand where you're coming from. You don't want the Trump movement to be a "Christian" movement because you think it will drive moderates away. But that's not what I'm asking for. I'm just asking for the movement to make room for Christianity. Which it already does, luckily. But if people listen to you we would silence Christians within our own movement, make them keep all religious talk at home. I'm sorry I get enough of that from the leftists. If I start getting it from the Trump movement too I'm leaving, and I'm not the only one.

And I know you don't believe in God so what I'm about to say won't mean anything to you, but just so you understand my mind: none of this will succeed without God.
