If I understand California's laundry list of kiddy porn laws, he will be charged with Penal Code 311.11 PC

But that doesnt make sense because its a felony:

Its possible he was charged with misdemeanor even though they had a felony because of a circumstance we don't know, but it does seem odd considering its a person who works around vulnerable (students, even though they are adults) citizens.
