Yeah, well those Spanish a lot of us get misty-eyed for enslaved and genocided the Taínos till there was not a Taíno to be found less than 60 years later. Those rumors about somebody's pure Taíno abuelita up in some mountain town has invariably been found, after DNA testing, to be Amerindian from South America (like Chief Lieawatha Warren).
