Specifically, they need to go live on the darker side of town and away from whatever posh, well-heeled neighborhood that exists even in, say, Detroit or Columbus or St Louis. This is what I did, as a FoodNotBombs activist and trendy Left-wing kiddie. Opened my eyes right the fuck up! Big time! Like, hoooly shiiit, reality isn't as simple as I thought, these people, some of them, don't give a shit what I believe they hate me because of my race. Hm. And, I'm not even allowed to call them out about it? Double: HMMMM.

Of course. Only a fool believes otherwise.

I went to an all black school in elementary. We had to literally cross the tracks to get there from my neighborhood, the area was small and dirty, but there was no inherent racism amongst the children. The middle school I attended was pretty rough, but much cleaner. Some of the children would spout off shit they heard their parents or elders say, but the atmosphere wasn’t one of racial division and hate. Once I got to high school, however, the clicks of black students began to segregate themselves from all things white. They didn’t know why, but went along with the group mentality. This totally shaped their attitudes to disregard and disrespect anyone who was doing well in school in an attempt to cover for their own mental weaknesses. As soon as they realized they couldn’t compete in the classroom, they turned into an angry mob of isolationists that blamed all others for their inadequacies.

The braking point came when we had a mural painted up high on the wall of the entry to the school. There were people of all races and genders, but the baseball player was represented as a black person when not a single black man was on the team. When the team asked to have the player re-painted as a white boy, every black person in the school suddenly became part of a hive mind that displayed animosity for any white person. The air was thick with the underlying hatred they were suddenly directing to all non black students. Since white guilt hadn’t become a thing yet, we got a ladder and some paint and made the baseball player white. This was the final straw and our school of 3000 kids was forever divided by race.

I know. It's depressing to see people grow up into their assigned racial categories. I also grew up in a majority black elementary and middle school ...skipped high school (99.99% white) but returned for the shittiness of adulthood in community college and etc.

It was a nightmare. Thanksfully, one (single!) person stood out to (as I see it now) tell me that she didn't believe in "all this" and didn't celebrate kawanza and etc, as my little dumb white ass was falling all over myself (sorta) trying to show I was ...I dunno, not racist, I guess. Anyways, there's a lot more to it. That professor (I later learned) was totally racist. And so, she might have been friendly to me as a way of saying multiple things at once. Sorta telling him not to try and propagandize her with racism because, see?, she was being friendly to a white person.

Anyways, Historically Black Colleges are a fucking hive of racism, as one might imagine. Every time I see a president of the US get into office and fund the living shit out of em in order to score points, I cringe. I went to one. Trust me, "holy shit!"
