Don't kid yourselves folks. The Republicans in Virginia - such that there are any Republicans in Virginia - wanted this to happen.

The member of the Virginia Senate's Courts of Justice committee (that voted on these bills) are:

DEMOCRAT

Edwards

Saslaw

Lucas

Deeds

Petersen

Surovell

McClellan

Boysko

Morrissey

REPUBLICAN

Norment

Obenshain

McDougle

Stuart

Stanley

Chafin

All of those democrats were up for re-election in 2019. Only ONE OF THEM had a Republican challenger.

Edwards had no Republican challenger. He won with 65% of the vote. An independent got 33% of the vote.

Saslaw had no challenger. He won with 92% of the vote. Write-ins got 7% of the vote.

Lucas had no challenger. She won with 92% of the vote. Write-ins got 7% of the vote.

Deeds had no Republican challenger. He He won with 67% of the vote. An independent got 32% of the vote.

Petersen had no challenger. He won with 91% of the vote. Write-ins got 9% of the vote.

Surovell had no challenger. He won with 92% of the vote. Write-ins got 8% of the vote.

McClellan had no Republican challenger. He won with 80% of the vote. A Libertarian got 19% of the vote.

Boysko had a Republican challenger (the only one!). She won with 64% of the vote. The Republican got 35% of the vote.

McClellan had no Republican challenger. He won with 63% of the vote. An Independent got 34% of the vote.

The Virginia Republicans ARE Democrats, including the loser Stewart. The people were abandoned by the GOP and the state was thus handed for free over to the Democrat Party.
