I'd really like to know what kind of weapon they had built. It does not sound like the kind of device they used in Oklahoma City, which was a slow shock wave speed fertilizer and diesel fuel mixture with massive 'shove' versus high shock wave speed military explosives.
Did they say 500 yard blast radius or diameter?
My guess is it is some kind of advanced binary that they don't want designs/ingredients for, leaking out. Which means they were well financed.
Funny story. My rookie year, we just got beat in the finals and were travelling back through Oklahoma City within 30 minutes of the blast....didn't even know about it until we got home. It's still surreal when I think about it.
EDIT: Okay, not a "funny" story, but "odd".
Talked with some people stationed at Ft. Myer on the hills overlooking the Pentagon on 9/11. They talked about seeing the smoke plumes rising up from the plane crash site there. Everyone was worried and calling relatives because a lot of them had people that worked in the Pentagon. Had to have been a terrible feeling.
