Here's the dilemma:

  1. If we post about music or psychology or media or gardening or any number of interesting things that humans are into...here...it's clearly off-topic and will dilute the positical message.

  2. When we post about music or psychology or media or gardening or any number of interesting things on Reddit, or Facebook, or any of their social media platforms, our fkn posts are deleted and we are shadowbanned and it;s frustrating.

  3. See below but lets just start with this: "for whatever reasons", the social media that pops up that's "free speech" is absolutely flooded with racists and anti-semites that can't even shut the fuck up long enough to entice an audience to their views but seem ...suspiciously enough...determined to chase everyone away by flooding every forum with really low-IQ, low-effort posts about Jews and N****rs and all sorts of just foul, ugly, mean-spirited, stupidity that is immune to discussion or reason.

3.a) In a world where people are legit burning down their own churches and spray painting on their own synagogues, it's entirely, entirely possible that some few bored bunions over at SPLC are on sites like Voat anyways (obsessing as they do) and decided to just strawman and "shit up the place" with insane and repulsively idiotic racism...in order to chase people off the platform and troll people who are free speech, etc. I've done the same to trendy, racist progressives and liberals on yelp Portland Talk so yeah, it's something ugly that's done by both sides, they're just over-the-top and destroying any little platform we create, though.

Basically, we're going to need a well guarded and, apparently, expensive (?) website (or new strategy to "normalize Voat, Gab, etc?) if we're going to take back over the online ":public spaces" where people share ideas. I, for one, am sick unto death of having ma shit deleted and shadowbanned from Reddit when I;m just posting about "RoomPorn" or a new music release or psychology or whatever. Posting about non-political issues is how you make friends, kinda show your humanity, and it's good for the country. I could go on...

What do ya'll think? I'm sorta pissed. 3 1/2 years in and Milo's forum idea still is not implemented.

Do we need to lose an election for this to happen, or what? Supposedly, we have "one of ours" in the highest office of the fucking land. >:I

What gives?

So if I use the internet at all it makes it suuuuper important? The difference between me and you is I'm here casually, for fun, and recognize it for what it is, just screwing around. Where we went wrong is believing that it means anything at all. But be all serious and shit, itll really get you somewhere.

Sooo what you're saying is it's okay to strawman and exaggerate positions of opponents in order to score the "fake" internet points that I just got through saying are meaningless?.

No.

Where we went wrong is believing that it means anything at all.

Speak for yourself. I wouldn't be supporting Trump if it wasn't for the internet. Any ass knows this. It's why presidential campaigns invest in online networking. Where you get a new idea, the internet, televison, face-to-face, isn't as important as the new idea that's now rattling around in your head making you rethink your basic assumptions.

itll really get you somewhere.

Sarcasm is so meaningful. You're really not at all representing the very thing you disparage about the internet. XD

Love you anyways, pede. But you're wrong here. 100%.
