Even better, break and/or level everything halfway, so that they have to blow a huge amount of money and manpower to either restore the site to a useable state, or clear it for other projects. y'know, spike the cannons and all that.

Nah. Iraq government is caving to pressure from Iran. The US is there for a reason, that's not going away.
