I hope Iran tries something and gives pretext to curbstomp its stupid government back to the stone ages.

Iran deserves it as much or more than Sadam and Iraq ever did. Just, do it so we do not lose American Troops. Take out Iranian Infrastructure from the air. Literally put them in the stone age. If they try nuking Israel. Nuke them. Or preferably, if it really exists, Neutron bomb them.

I'd rather they licked their wounds and cut their losses.

Best case scenario is we decapitate the government and we get the same mess in Iran as we have in Iraq. No more "nation building."

Bad case scenario is the population rises up but not decisively enough to overthrow the government. Military begins "cleansing" counter-revolutionaries en masse, and we get drawn in to Syria's sequel.

Worst case scenario is they lash out at an ally with ground forces that we feel obligated to intercede on the behalf of.

That part of the world is irredeemable until they evolve intellectually and morally to redeem it themselves.
