If the Iranians strike out against the only real place within their range (Israel) with a dirty bomb or actual nuke, there could be a limited nuclear war.
Remember, the Iranian leaders think they are in the end time battle that marks the end of the world.
As crazy as it sounds, if they attack in revenge for their general, and US /Israel destroys their nuclear and oil assets, they might launch a vengeance attack.
Should be interesting.

Iran would be the first nuclear power in history to deploy a nuclear weapon without testing one first. It seems unlikely that they have a functional nuke.
As for dirty bomb, seems like a lot of risk without a lot of upside...Meaning, there's all of the international military response of an actual nuclear attack with no real deterrent.
There’s been a lot of chatter on this site lately about just this very issue. Ultimately, Israel can’t wait for Iran to attain a nuclear weapon. Now that we have become energy independent there is less need to protect the straits. If our unwillingness to be dragged into foreign wars leaves Israel on their own, they would be looking at clearing as much of Iran in as little time as possible. That would mean use of their nuclear arsenal as a method of protecting themselves from hits to their very small nation. I think Israel would love to have a war hawk president in the US, but with Trump’s re-election almost inevitable they are going to run out of time. My guess is there is less than 6 months before a major occurrence takes place whether it be Israel going full tilt or Trump acting as a blocker on at least one front.
Israel lacks a heavy bomber like the B-52 to be able to drop bunker busters.

I sure hope not, but Trump has been moving more troops on top of the 14000 in the region. To me that says, he also sees the writing on the wall and is willing to set up a strong presence as a deterrent to war. Fortunately, Iran is broke as a joke from the sanctions, but it doesn’t remove Israel from the threat. I don’t see the US getting dragged into a conventional war, but strategic strikes may continue to happen. There is no way this blows over.
