In 1822, African Americans were given a country of their own - somewhere they could be free to govern themselves and shape their own destiny.

African Americans named this country Liberia: Land of the free.

The first act of these new Liberians (African Americans) was to use the indigenous Africans to establish a massive slave trade.

This is modern Liberia.
