I saw this coming about a decade ago, during the Obama regime. I owned a beautiful 3000 sq. ft. home, 1/2 acre corner lot, huge live oaks, sunken garden, etc. But I sold it in 2010 because I could already see the government pursuing one of 3 paths with homeowners:
tax so ruinously that it forces the homeowner into urban, communal, rental and/or apartment living.
Require homeowners to take in complete strangers, vagrants, students, etc, based on the size of the home versus the size of the family residing in the dwelling.
party elites in local government passing zoning regulations and/or outright confiscation of desirable properties for their own or party hierarchs' use.
Why did I think this? Because it's exactly what the Soviets did in order to dissolve the decadent, bourgeois middle class by forcing them into accommodating 'proletarian heroes of the working class' (aka: various unsavory riffraff) in their townhomes. It destroyed the sense of safety, property rights, and privacy in one's own home. Those who objected would have their homes confiscated outright and they'd be sent to Siberia.
