Mitch coerced the Dems to continue assuming responsibility for impeachment, which is wildly helpful for Trump (both in polls and fundraising). Pelosi overplayed her hand (trying to accommodate her base and party), let this play out. It only hurts the Dems. At some point, Twitter will realize that it has to go to trail before Trump is removed.
