For the Mt. People of Va. its seems a recourse to the accepted tactics of guerrilla/urban warfare would be the best route to take. A 'accident' at power stations, an 'accident' at transmission lines, an 'accident' at cell phone towers. That alone would put the 'Blue Part' of Va. back in the Dark Ages, the civil chaos would be more than enough to keep the National Guard Busy

They were picking off British troops marching in formation on the roads from one battlefield to the next.
Take the View of a former US National Park Employee. Guerrilla tactics were the start, it took Von Stuben and a whole lot of French Soldiers, and French Aid, to win the War. More French than Americans died at Yorktown. We would have lost, had we relied on guerrilla tactics.
The vast majority of libs in VA dwell in 3 condensed locations. (They love city dwelling.) It wouldn't take much to start an updated seige.
As someone who lives not far from the hilly Virginia border, I can tell you that the mountain guys...and gals...go to the shooting range as a required class in high school. This year, they were practicing on the AR-15, a shotgun, and the Glock. Everyone hunts, starting around age 8. And the area is screamingly pro-Trump. Oh, and they have closets full of camo and gilly suits, infrared binoculars (for hunting), at least 5-6 rifles apiece, loads of ammo, crossbows (handy for quiet moves), hunting slingshots with steel bb's of various sizes, and a lifetime collection of hunting knives each.
Plus, you really have to take into account the local culture. They would take it as a personal challenge to be the one who had the highest traitor kill count in the woods. They'd probably have a barbeque at the end of each day and fight over bragging rights.
Edit: Plus there are the loco, local meth heads, who add an interesting flavor to the mix. They'd shoot, just hoping to die in valor.
