At this point I have my doubts they will even vote on it. The vote to "officially" start the investigation had bi-partisan support against it. Since then several democrats have left the party. The speaker knows a close vote with bi-partisan support against it will look horrible to anyone not suffering from TDS.

They have to at least vote on this imo.

If they don't, the TDS base of the democratic party will lose their minds. I'm not sure there are going to be enough turncoat democrats to stop the impeachment either.

McConnell has a good plan though. Call the relevant witnesses and get this farce done and over with quickly. By June, this will be a distant memory to most people, except for the rabid trump haters of course.

Interesting thought. Of course if they were so inclined, the Senate could hold their own hearings on Ukrainian corruption and interference with or without impeachment.

Can they do this?

I mean if they can do this, then they are opening up a whole other can of worms that they might not like in the future.

Imagine voting to impeach every opposition politician in congress when you have the house, then sitting on the articles until you gain control of the senate.

That seems to be the process they are going for. It's 100% politics, but the left hasn't cared about fairness in recent times because they must stop Trump at all costs.
