What was “news” to me is he states that America’s health care is the best in the world. I keep hearing the opposite. He says that the data clearly shows that the single payer countries are cheaper but the fact is that the citizens of those countries do not really have access to health care. Not without long wait lines. And those wait lines cause a higher percentage of further complications.
According to him, having insurance does not mean that you have access to health care. His statements are that people today after Obamacare have less health care than before.
The other big point to me is the supply of doctors is artificially constrained. Both for GPs as well as specialists. There are ways, according to him, to address this. Basic economics 101... when the price is too high, increase supply to bring it down.
He mentions changing the laws and stop making medical license be bound to a particular state — which seems like another no-brainer type thought. This would allow tele-medical practices to grow and become a disruptive factor in how healthcare is provided.
Scott Atlas has a book from 2015 that he mentions at the end that he is updating. You can find the PDF version of his book here: https://www.hoover.org/research/restoring-quality-health-care
