Please chip in, but in my view, respect of the democratic process is absolutely central. This means you respect the result of an election. Opposing a legally appointed representative just shows an utter disrespect of democracy and nullifies the whole point.

So always remind friends it is "YOUR president Trump!"

With democracy, you get the tyrany of the majority. We would end up being run based on the whim of LA and NYC.

This is why we have an electoral college.

That is an acute observation, and of course you are right. The tyrany of the majority especially comes into play regarding moral matters. Which is why government should stay away from making morality into law, like on which drugs are the best, reproduction, religion, etc..
