He was convicted in 2004 for a minimum of 15 years. Maybe he's trying to get in good behavior points as it's been 15 years since then. I feel the family's pain but at the same time I believe in giving credit where it's due.

exactly this, its not like a person cannot change and criminals cannot be rehabilitated. this just falls into the case by case basis
