Not that I’ve seen them here yet, but other places. How do you identify/know when you are inadvertently interacting with a bot online? Had some weird interactions lately online, and wondering if there is a ‘handbook’ of sorts like there is for shills, except helpful for pointing out bots specifically.... and perhaps how best to respond once identified? Ignore like with shills?

They usually give themselves away pretty easily. Shills are easy to spot via behavior. Bots are easy to spot because they're unresponsive.

Look for ids that were obviously generated (lots of numbers like npc2343355)

Ask them a question outside of simple response programming - "what do you think about <current issue>

A lack of response or a repetitive response that ignores your reasonable question is a sign

Obviously look at the post history - are the volumes human-reasonable or obviously machine generated, are the times consistent?

And deport them if they fail your test - bots are cancer

I've seen a bunch of shills on this platform already.

Anyone who's overtly racist or intolerant of gays is usually just some lefty desperately trying to prove how bigoted we are.

They usually act clueless or offended that we don't agree.

If they respond it's a bot. That's how I used to tell on yahoo chat anyway lol
