I have been wanting to see this because Manson lived where I grew up. We all knew his name for the murders but also for the fact he lived there. I have read many books on Manson and I was worried how they would betray him. So your saying this is an alternate story but. Charlie still tells them to go and kill?
You hardly see Manson.....it is an "alternative storyline". Manson is qn after thought....yet, another reason why I think Tarentino made this as a smack in the face to modern Lefties. Manson is showen, obliquely, once. He is talked about, but the main focus is on batshit crazy leftists working independantly. The ending is too glorious to ignore Tarantino's smack down of current Antifa fucks and REEEEEEER's.
Fun fact: the house I grew up in was very close to the Tate house and I remember that day vividly. I remember the police coming to the door, telling us to lock every door and window, and instructing the adults to keep us kids inside for the day. Also, the helicopters flying low and loud over the neighborhood. I was just a little kid but I understood something really bad was happening. It scared me for a long time. Watching the trial hijinks on TV helped me feel normal again. Later, when I was a teenager all the stoners used to go park by that (then) empty house to get high and make out.
