I for one would love you to be a part of New Amsterdam/Holland. The name is debated. That map would look funny. You be like our version of that unconnected part of Michigan lol.

Hahaha, yes! That way New York City, and Westchester, can exist exist in their own little "People's Republic".

Well the hard truth is we missed on a constitutional convention last gubernatorial race. Piss poor attendance at the poles throughout upstate. Turnout was and always is trash. And our next opportunity to request one is like 15 years from now iirc.

Maybe somehow we could get the wheels moving preemptively but its going to take grass roots energy

I think given all of the shenanigans recently, I would imagine that there may be more of a drive for it in Upstate. Upstate gets little say in the direction of the state, and has to pay the burden of New York City's ill-fated desires. The il Duce Cuomo, is also not an Upstate man, and does not govern like he's from up there. He governs like a New York City mayor.

For Long Island, we've had several attempts to become a state, with only one of them gaining some traction. I've heard of more people talking about it recently, though, as more city folks come out to my neck of the woods. There's justified fear here that things may get worse for our county thanks to them.

No ill-will towards the entire population of the five boroughs. Did get to talk to a couple of pedes behind enemy lines, so to speak.

We could always get into the stratagem of achieving this at another time but here's some hypotheticals if a separation were to occur for the sake of argument and discussion.

Despite what many NYC residents that have argued against me and has said it's not possible. It is. Former contracts are null and void in the formation of a separate state.

First off the bat NYC has to pay up from the water/electricity/natural gas from upstate. Either that or they invest in water treatment plants.

Secondly I know NYC would in a counter move try to make ships getting past them up the Hudson full of hoops and bureaucratic bs. Being imports come in largely in their realm.

I originally thought well we could just build a massive port on the St Lawrence. Not far from Montreal where there already is.

Now that if we put LI in play we could put ports on LI too.
