6 Democrat mayors from the iron range have endorsed Trump https://www.wifr.com/2020/09/01/six-democrat-mayors-endorse-trump/

Meanwhile, this is what the Dem Party has to offer your state. Racist terrorism from deranged lunatics like Dem candidate John Thompson

The iron range is that blue region in the 2016 map for the visual learners 😉

Which part? Edit NM: it's the northern region.

The pointy part in the northeastern part of the state

3

They should call it the Cobalt range then.

That blue area on the top in 2012 is the so-called "Iron Range."

I bet we see the rest of it go red this year.

23
acebrg 23 points ago +25 / -2

Isn't that where the somalis came in?

56
brassmule 56 points ago +56 / -0 (edited)

The sand people are primarily in Minneapolis/St Paul area and also some in Rochester, MN.

Here's an updated map with those areas selected. You'll notice that 2016 shows them isolated in a sea of red. I am confident that 2020 will show them as the only 5 blue counties in all of Minnesota, and perhaps 3 of those 5 will also flip. Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St Louis in the northeast of the state are almost certainly going to vote red in 2020, or at least 3 out of 4 of them will.

The other three that can flip:

Olmstead (Rochester) was 45.7 to 45 for Hillary.

Washington (east Minneapolis) was 47 to 45.1 for Hillary.

Dakota (south east Minneapolis) was 48.2 to 43.6 for Hillary.

You are assuming no fraud, not a good assumption.

24
brassmule 24 points ago +24 / -0

Fraud happened in 2016 as well - just look at Michigan and Crazy Plant Lady's recount effort. We know it did. But their fraud could not overwhelm the real voters.

And that was 2016, when Trump was still not a known-entity like he is today. 2020 Trump voter turn out will once again swamp fraud efforts.

4

I really hope my county (Carlton) goes red this year

2
brassmule 2 points ago +2 / -0

Carlton was super close in 2016 so I think it's the best chance of all of them. Y'all got Egg 'CIA' McMuffin'd in 2016 basically, and now that Trump is a known quantity of awesomeness, those people will vote for him in 2020.

9
BlackLabsMatter 9 points ago +9 / -0

No. That is Minneapolis and Saint Cloud.

3
brassmule 3 points ago +3 / -0 (edited)

Nice. Right now after the Goodyear/Phoenix Rally, Trump only has the October 29th rally in Florida on the schedule. We're 7 days until the election which is when Trump will hit his peak and do 3-5 rallies per day. I am curious to see where they schedule the rest of them.

I bet we see North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Michigan again on the events but the rest I'm not sure about.

late edit: lol wait, I just realized there is a filter on the side that allows you to select DJT and rally only: It seems my guess was correct but it's only tomorrow and Friday. This man is a frickin' MACHINE.

Current_Year_Acct 67 points ago +67 / -0

Wow. That's the epitome of one city ruling over an entire state.

49
Block_Helen 49 points ago +49 / -0

Two cities in this case. But yes.

24
YanE 24 points ago +24 / -0

I don't understand why the electoral college doesn't apply to states too. Back then when it was created. The country was scarcely populated and they didn't want an entire elite ruling the whole National territory but now we have huge (and dystopic) urban centers dictating the whole State. I know It is due to mass migration that created this mess but, nevertheless, how'd the Founding Fathers have predicted the Alinskian tactics of party infiltration and far-left activism. A lot of things should be overhauled. I am not American by the way.

15
Ben45 15 points ago +15 / -0

The Constitution, rightfully so, allows states to decide how to delegate their electoral votes. Your state's votes do not have to go to the winner of the popular vote of your state, it can be done in an electoral college fashion or in a proportionate fashion like in Maine and Nebraska.

Contact your local state reps.

8
MyUsername 8 points ago +8 / -0

I wonder, how many states would be red if they worked like that? Would there be any blue states left? As far as I can tell, most blue states are mostly smaller red cities and a few big blue cities.

7
Ben45 7 points ago +7 / -0

The only blue states would be the small ones like RI, CT, DE, MA and HI. NJ would be a swing state because Trump only lost a couple of counties to Hillary. If NJ had an electoral college by county he'd probably win the state 12-11 this year. NY and CA are huge so their votes would go R. Democrats would not exist under this system, it would be two variants of the republican party. Kinda crazy to think.

3
Toe30330 3 points ago +3 / -0

I read somewhere there’s 3,141 counties in our country and trump won like 3,000 counties. Hillary won 50 something. Obviously the biggest counties

2
Tardigrade 2 points ago +2 / -0

Canada kind of has an electoral college, but not grouped into states. Its at the level of what would be our congressional districts. This has long intrigued me, as has the idea of breaking up the votes of more states liek Maine and Nebraska do. Imagine all the red votes to be had in the eastern parts of washington, oregon and that one that starts with Californ.

urbanites even in MN are mostly idiots.....

8
DeltaTango 8 points ago +8 / -0

I really don't get the urban draw. I've lived in a rural/suburb area and in a dense urban area, and it's no comparison. Urban areas are death. The only thing they have going for them are usually higher paying jobs, but that higher pay is mostly negated by the higher living expenses, higher crime, and less freedom to live your life.

3
JirkaBedr 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yep. Grew up in a big city. Very happy to be in a smaller city now and looking forward to moving out into the country side....

Get out and Vote today if you can. I did in person early in Iowa!!

28
MN_Centipede 28 points ago +28 / -0

I voted early this morning, my ladypede too. MN for Trump!

Couldn’t help but looking around, wondering how many of the useful idiots haven’t ever heard of Hunter and the Biden’s massive corruption scandal. Most poll workers were wearing blue... can’t be coincidental.

For sure this state is chalk full of morons who think they are heroes for the working class by voting democrat. Couldn’t be further from truth.

14
MN_Centipede 14 points ago +14 / -0 (edited)

Healthcare is a massive issue. Trump needs to remove red tape, bring in real competition, and lower prices. That’s what is driving many to always vote democrat.

Couldn’t believe Trump saying in last debate how we all love our beautiful healthcare plans. They are worse and worse every year. You pay more than ever, and deductibles are so high you can’t use it. Something has to give.

UnitedHealth, all these corrupt companies are taking in RECORD profits. Remember they all used Obamacare as reason why they had to inflate prices. It was bullshit, they are raping America.

2
crash7863 2 points ago +2 / -0

Pretty much. I'm sick of hearing how drug companies can charge so much because they have to pay for R&D costs. Fuck them. The US government has the power to throttle their fucking necks and force price controls.

People are always being born, dying, or just getting fucked up. So hospitals are always going to be in business. Price controls there too.

I spent 2 nights in the hospital earlier this year. Released the 3rd day. The tests done cost me like $4000. They want $15,000 for sleeping in the hospital for 3 days. The ambulance ride to the hospital was $1400. The VA is supposed to cover it as I had a 70% disability rating. They're fighting it and just reduced my disability rating to 50%. I didn't have health insurance because I'm supposed to have %100 coverage from the VA. My mistake.

Healthcare is an issue conservatives actually need to tackle. The bullshit about freedom of choice in healthcare plans is terrible.

I remember back in the late 90's people in Minnesota found out they could get their prescription drugs from Canada at greatly reduced prices. The government shut that down real quick.

I'm getting too worked up.

Most of MN is red. The Duluth area and the MSP areas overpower the rest of the state. Hopefully with the iron range on board, that will take out the college students in Duluth. I doubt the cesspool of the MSP area will ever go red. Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services have done massive amounts of damage there. They bring in and dump the Ilhan Omars of the world and then just walk away after getting paid.

I convinced my friend from Minnesota who voted for Killary in 2016 to vote trump this year. He just sent in his ballot voting for Trump! Get out there and talk to your friends! A lot of them will listen to reason!

14
phunxyn 14 points ago +14 / -0

It seems possible here this year. The twin cities suburbs are a hive for secret Trump voters. The iron range is pretty much on lock for Trump. There is a long history of cheating like with Al Frankenstein but it's hard for them to know how many votes they need to find boxes of with the hidden support for Trump.

1
zwiebelsaft 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah. One of the drag queens over at the 90’s was ranting to me about Cancel Culture. I doubt she’s on board with Trump but I don’t think she’s on board with Biden either. A surprising amount of the gays there are disenfranchised with both sides.

worst crock I've ever heard..

6
prospektor 6 points ago +6 / -0

Well, we can use that to our advantage now. Biden has 47 years of supporting all the pointless wars, Trump has gotten us into NO new wars and instead brought troops home. He even called out the military-industrial complex.

4
Tardigrade 4 points ago +4 / -0

I feel like this is completely forgotten. Which is really weird to me as someone who went to college during the peak of Dubya's unpopularity.

1
Ieggo 1 point ago +1 / -0

There is some very good analysis of the voter groups by Barnes. Essentially the polls mostly poll people with British background when they poll white working class and these are not the strongest group for Trump while there are large groups of Norwegians, Germans and others in the rural areas who were strongly against Bush and pro Trump.

9
DaLoneVoice 9 points ago +9 / -0

Minnesota will only have a little blue around the twin cities, the rest is going Red. Biden pissed off the miners and trump opened them back up after years of them being closed for regulations and halts on iron ore and taconite.

2
XinnietheFlu 2 points ago +2 / -0

Cleveland Cliffs who own some of the mines up there also bought out all of AK Steel and ArcelorMittal's entire USA operations. Thats a lot of Steel Mills to be suppling iron for years and years to come.

9
MeatloafFvck 9 points ago +9 / -0

Trump lost Minnesota by about 44,000 votes, no Evan McMuffin this year and no Gary Johnson. No Jill Stein either, but Trump can pick up a lot of Gary Johnson cotes and he should get most of McMuffin’s.

Minnesota 2016 results

D Winner H. Clinton 46.9% 1,366,676

R D. Trump 45.4% 1,322,891

L G. Johnson 3.9% 112,944

1
bigglejilly 1 point ago +1 / -0

I think you see many Bernie or busters going Jorgenson. I always hit hard leftist with the reality that we got Trump because when Ron Paul got cheated out of the nomination twice we didn't just go along with the establishment Republican. We stood out of voted third party and Romney got fucked and made paved the way for Trump. That usually resonated well with them.

4

Well I think that everyone who voted for Trump the first time will vote for him again, and loads of my neighbors who didn't like Trump the first time around are absolutely disgusted by the left after all the riots and covid bullshit, and have jumped on the Train. At least half of my friends who were solid blue Obama/Hillary/Bernie or even fucking Johnson supporters have seen the light, and a few of them are even Pedes now lol, people that I never ever thought I'd align with politically are sending me Trump memes! I live in SSP and right across the highway is WSP and combined we have probably the most retirement homes per capita in the State, and all the Old Timers I've talked to are abhorred by the riots and looting and genuinely see Trump as a beacon of law and order. Both in my family and those of my friends we are seeing oldschool blue union dem voters realize that the left has not only left them behind, but actively hates them. My friends in Rosemomt and Farmington and Hastings all see the same things happening. I'm not saying I know for sure which way the cards will fall, but if it's ever gonna happen, it's gonna happen Tuesday. People around here are afraid to put up Trump signs, don't wanna bring unwanted attention, but I've seen a lot more American flags go up, to me that's the best sign of all!

The iron range is named for iron mines. It isn't the only source of iron around, but it is a big one, and Minnesota iron was a huge part of America's industry. More stuff built in America = more Minnesota jobs. More stuff built in China = less Minnesota jobs.

That congressional district was one of the two districts that flipped D to R in 2018.

If you are curious why it is so consistently blue, a while back Finland kicked their socialists out and they moved here.
