I have watched in growing horror as the modern town square (social media) has become increasingly hostile to conservative points of view.
I have experienced this on Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit specifically.
While I have seen an ever-increasing number of conservative-leaning Facebook posts either covered with a disclaimer confidently assuring me the underlying image, meme, or news story has been debunked by fact checkers, nothing has been as overt or egregious as Reddit's treatment of the forum supporting Donald Trump, also known as The_Donald.
Reddit will defend their actions as proportionate and reactive to posts which have threatened police, government officials, or supported racist worldviews.
My brothers and sisters have many specific examples of censorship, administrative interference, user suppression, and disproportionate retaliation or application of punitive actions for the community as a whole on the flimsiest of pretense.
I know from past testimony, you are already deeply concerned about the influence and bias inherent to social media.
I would assert that Social Media companies such as Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter can no longer be seen as platforms. You have echoed these sentiments in the past, and on the behalf of my patriotic, police-supporting, America-loving brothers and sisters ask that you make this a personal crusade.
Regular Americans of every faith, race, and and background already struggle to find opposing viewpoints to those pushed by the biased corporate news, academia, and entertainment industries.
Soon there will be no place where independent thought isn't censored, rebuked, or limits opportunity for the citizen insubordinate enough to exercise it.
Please continue your fight to remove social media's immunities under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act until they can demonstrate there are protections in place to guarantee the free flow of ideas and robust political debate.
I would be happy to share a specific example of user suppression with your office, should you so desire. This user's story is what inspired me to write to you today.

I wrote to Ted Cruz on your behalf:
