Hunter Biden was a board member for Burisma holdings from 2014-2019 where he was being paid $50,000 a month. Bursima Holdings was headed by the pro-Russia oligarch (Mykola Zlochevsky) who fled the country after the coup ousted then pro-Russia President Yanukovych, and Burisma Holdings was under corruption investigation for the association with the pro-Russian oligarchs among other things, to which the other board members including Hunter Biden were subjects.
The prosecutor’s ouster (Viktor Shokin) was for an unrelated “bribery” scandal to which Vice President Joe Biden has openly bragged about playing a role in having him dismissed (numerous videos of his admission). The TLDR is he conducted himself as an old/soviet styled prosecutor, which back under Soviet rule had more power than the judges, which the new pro-wear regime wanted no part of. VP Biden did this by threatening to withhold foreign aid loan guarantees in a billion dollars package unless the prosecutor in charge of investigating the company his son was a board member on was fired. (this is basically what Trump is being impeached for.... withholding aid to get the Ukrainians to get something in exchange) the main difference being Trump’s finger prints aren’t all over Ukraine.
At the time of his appointment in 2014, members of Joe Biden’s staff had already been approaching the then Vice President over the inappropriate optics of his son’s position in Burisma Holdings, which coincided with Biden’s trips over to Ukraine where he was heading up Obama’s reception to the new regime under their new pro-EU President. The idea being that even if there was no foul play or illegal actions, the associations themselves were at the very least unethical and looked very bad.
To this day we still don’t know why Hunter Biden was given a lucrative position on Butisma Holdings, why the investigation into Burisma Holdings was abruptly canceled, or why Biden withhold loan guarantees and the damage that caused.
Enter Trump.
Trump comes into office in 2017 on a wave of (among other things) a vow to drain the swamp and fight perceived corruption in Washington and other unresolved happenings form the Obama Years... including... dealings with Ukraine....
Hunter Biden aside.... Ukraine and other former Soviet bloc countries in Eastern Europe are renown for corruption and, politics aside, US entanglements with those corrupt regimes has been an ongoing concern for many years, since before Obama.
To make it worse. Ukrainian money was involved in the financing of the Steel Dossier which was an integral part in 2016 election meddling, which, even now, democrats still try to pretend they care about despite attacking Trump for looking into sources of said election meddling (what they really meant by election meddling was Republican victories... they’ll take foreign money themselves no questions asked...) which is exactly why they’re going after Trump’s anti-corruption push in Ukraine because of their association with 2016-meddling and the Obama administration’s link through Hillary, and fusionGPS, and the DNC.
On top of their own interest for self preservation, the Democratic hate train has been for-impeachment since before Trump was even inaugurated... after the Mueller report completely flopped when it was released back in April their all-in hand was wasted on a lot of nothing, but they couldn’t stop the momentum.... they were still going to have to impeach Trump somehow, even if it wasn’t over muh Russia. So they’ve moved on to the next best thing the only other option they could pull out of a hat before 2020.... muh Ukraine.
